The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Hello Sheyn and everyone else on the losing track :D

I've been so lazy I have not reported for a single day.. hopefully I'm gonna do so from now on iA. How often are we supposed to report? Cos for some strange reasons this screen hurts me so bad and I always end up with a serious headache even if i sit for just 15mins. :(

Anyways I guess I'm lucky Alhamdulillah cos I doidn t have any junk food in my diet other than the occasional soft drinks which too at a party etc and I have left them too now. So nothing khas to quit for me.

I have cheated one day on cake.. mmmmm... couldn't help but grab a big piece :$ but I worked out for an hour that day.

Hmm other than that I'm going fine so far.. strictly controlled my calorie intake and mostly try to eat only healthy. lots of water fruit and salads. Workout includes brisk walk/climbing stairs/lunges and sometimes cycling 3-4times a weak.

I was 128(that was a mistake on my part Sheyn, Sorry for that) pounds and now I'm 123 Alhamdulillah.

Ok I guess that's pretty much it. Gotta regular on my workout.

Thanks for the motivation everyone.

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Thanks sheyn. My diet = EPIC FAIL, so far.

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Hey Sheyn

Just saw challenge 2 .. I have decided to go non white on Bread/Pasta and Sugar..

I think I have sorted myself on the first challenge

Have had no choc / crisps / soft drink

I was well impressed yesterday as I was over for iftar at a friends and was offered soft drinks but I just walked to the tap and got myself some water rather than take what was on the table..

I am going to take your advice and drink 3 glasses of water at Iftar

I had sehri this morning and felt so full.. my stomach has shrunk .. it is my fault for me to eat even when I am stuffed as my body is trying to help me out..

Good going …start the next challenge:k:***

Munni :mad2:***

I'm glad......ur following the whole concept gradually and getting your body accustomed to the changes............

This is the whole idea of the challenges to start slow and re-condition your body so that it tells you when to stop and what to avoid subconsciously !***

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

I have gained one pound this week. smack

My walking is going fine and I am wondering if its because I really started to stick to my walking schedule (and thus gained a little muscle) that is the reason I gained a pound? Or maybe its the fact that I cant control my diettttttttttttt. Yeah, it might be that last one. sad

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

I had a chocolate cup cake today :\ it contained 283 calories :\ oh well! apart from tht im trying my best to control my diet and eating as healthy as possible, no fried foods, fizzy pop, crisps etc i hav one treat a week! which is gud compared to what i've done in previous ramadhanz where i used to hav something sweet everyday after iftar, i substituted tht with lots of fruit and/or a small pot of flavoured yoghurt for dessert.

will be getting weighed next monday, so will report back with how much i've lost then. I try and do 30minz of exercise a day.

also i hav a question, is eating too much fruit really fattening? :\ im worried, maybe i eat a bit too much fruit, i think i need to stop eating the grapes :(

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

oh so since saturday i lost 20 lbs..apparently :phati: I WISH!!

but uhmmmm..

i was doing okay with the diet, doing some moderate moderate excercise, not gorging on junk food etc. but then after a few days of feeling good, i was like, “okay a little bit wont hurt” and each time its a little bit, and all these little bits add up and well u know..

THOUGH, I must admit something. I spent the weekend at a friend’s house and normally we would have pigged out and stuff. but this time we didn’t. she just lost a huge amount of weight and i’m motivated by her success to get back in shape.

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Well done to the losers.. great news

I haven't checked my weight.. inshALLAH I have lost

Yesterday I cooked Iftaar for friends..

So had Chicken Biryani (Thanks CB - Turned out really nice)
Chana Daal
Lamb cutlets..
Russian Salad
Finished with Cheese Cake .. Had sparkling fruit juice.. no coke :)

So not a great day for food.. :(

I just need to incorporate exercise into my routine now..

On a postive note..
two colleagues commented on how slim I looked but I think it is because I was in all black :)

Well let's see..

I was running around like a headless chicken cooking for 10 people

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

***Awesome Girls......i'm glad we are seeing results already .....keep at it...slow and steady :D

Remember it helps to keep a personal food diary with you at all times.......write down what your intake was that day and even better prior to having a meal so that you are aware of the calories your consuming.........once you get used to it you can calculate the calories on a plate mentally...........

Also remember its little changes in your diet that help rather than massive overhauls.

Substitute sugar , full cream milk for skimmed milk , white breads for brown breads , rice for veggies , etc......... You will be halving your calories automatically

*Food Diary
*

If you're not sure what's wrong with your diet, try keeping a daily diary of everything you eat and drink.

At the end of the week, review your entries for problem areas.
Look out for processed foods, sodas, fast food, roasts, creamy sauces and fried foods.
If your diet seems largely healthy, look at portion sizes.

Once you've decided on what changes you're going to make, write them down. For example: **
**
Week 1****

  • Exercise : one 20 minute walk every lunch hour.
  • Coke : none in the week, two small glasses on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
  • Food: no chocolate or biscuits in the week, choose healthy snacks such as fruit, trim all fat from meat, eat no fried or fast food.
  • *Mood : In Control ; Happy , Depressed etc *

Once you start your plan, weigh yourself once a week before breakfast. Keep a record of this weight and see if a pattern develops.

** You could use a table to keep track of your goals, marking your progress for each day with a tick or a cross.

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

ive gained 3 lbs - in between the moving and everything going on i couldnt help it - i havent changed anything diet wise but i couldnt exercise as frequently as i used to.. :(

insha'Allah gna try and get back on track in a day or 2!!

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

My diet is still a sham but I have a question. Yesterday my right leg was cramping while doing my walk. Today it started even earlier and was there the entire rest of the walk, to the point that I couldnt even walk as much as I normally do. Last year when I was exercising at a gym, I did not have this issue. Any ideas why it may be happening? I ate way too much for iftar but I walked after a 2 hour nap afterwards. Thanks.

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Hey all..

I signed up yesterday so I don't have a huge amount of progress to report... But I made a good(ish) start at Iftari..

I had one date and a tall glass of milk and a little roohafza. I didn't have any semi-skimmed at home so had to have full-fat milk. I normally do have semi-skimmed milk but ran out. I got hungry again an hour later and I was going to go for some junk-food but instead I resisted and made myself a nice lean salad sandwhich...

For Sehri, I swapped the parantha for a roti and had spinach curry and a little yoghurt. Unfortunantely I washed it all doen with some desi tea so that was a bit of a no-no.

Today for Iftari I plan to have a glass of milk first (semi-skimmed), some fruit salad, then roti with spinach curry or a bowl of cereal. If I get peckish later, I will head for a handful of nuts and/or some fruit juice.

Don't realy know how many calaroies I consumed since Iftari yesterday, does anyone know how I can work this out?

For the next few weeks I plan to give up Desi tea, this means I will reduce my caffeine intake and consumption of full-fat milk.

So far, so good. Here's hoping I stay focused... iA..

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

Well done Barfi.. It is a great start and tbh Desi tea can be made with Semi Skimmed too so isn't so bad..

I have the pleasure to report to you

A loss of 1 kg since last week.. So no I am x8.8 from x9.7

Went to Iftaar at a friends and had a lovely Chicken Mince pastry and Chicken curry with Roti ...
But didn't binge eat.. I think because we were talking we ate really slowly..

I opted out of dessert

Was really bad and didn't wake for Sehri and now hungry and googling up Coconut Milkshakes..

I think I might just have a coconut Milkshake for Iftaar and some Russian Salad..

I am soooo upset.... I have gained 6Kg in the past four days..yes you read it right four days and 6 kgs. I have completely eliminated white bread, sugar from my diet. And heck I haven't been bingeing either...but this is unacceptable.... anyone wanna shed some light on why this could be :(

Re: The Biggest Loser- Queries and Progress

So i just joined :)... and m really excited :D

on my own i did gave up potatoes abt 4 weeks ago and have been doing great with that (lost 3lbs with just that)

For the 2nd challenge i'll give up bread (only white...will continue to eat wheat bread) and sugar (will have sweetener with my coffee).
