It was made in the memory of a ‘married women’.
Moughal Emperor Shah jahan made Taj Mahal, a mausoleum for his beloved wife. Who died during the child birth of his 15th child.
To me it is the greatest love story. Because they were husband and wife.

Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Sorry, 14th child.
My respect for both of them has grown
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
a tremendous waste of resources in my opinion...shahjehan was expert at that like all the other moguls.
I say what did these Firons accomplish by these marble monstrousities ? he could have used all that money and resources to spread the faith amongst the hindus.
The saints who lived simple lives are honored a 1000times more than shahjehan and his concubine
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Its man's greatest erection for his wife.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Taj Mahal was a waste, probably used money from pakistan to create it. Emperors with too much money arent my style, unless I'm the Emperor.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Waste of resources ?? ![]()
It is the most benificial investment and Moghal emperor has created a marvel so that poor india could earn billions of rupees anually and feed its people.
In my view Shahjahan’s love is superior to heer ranjha, laila majnoon. Because it was all sane. Deeply rooted, and pure. This love story shatters the myth into pieces that love fades away after marriage
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
I agree with code red on this one
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
so what do you think about anarkali?
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Poor workers who built them. I wouldn't wanna be one of them. Forget the love.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
^ how could some woman love a man so evil?
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Shah Jahan should have spent the resources in building libraries, schools etc. It sure is a waste of time and effort.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
No it wasn't, its probably the only landmark in South asia that people know worldwide.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
because love can be blind :halo:
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
it was built in respect of his wife's last wish. a symbol of beauty and love.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
what do you think the ROI is on Taj mahal in terms of building expenses compared to tourism dollars?
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
What do you think the ROI would have been had it been a academic institution?
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
And add insult to injury most Hindus believe it to be a bad omen. they would not decorate their houses with its replicas. yet they reap the benefit of tourism dollars!
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Anarkali was a boy. And all of youse thinking it was a waste of monies are just jealous you didnt come up with the idea first. :p
Its just a building, nowt special about it.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because

It served no real function except to placate an emperor's ego. What's the difference between it, and the Pharoh's tomb (the pyramids)? Yeah, great to look at...amazing feat of engineering...but it wasn't as if it was used by the common person.
I really appreciate the Great Wall...that thing was built for a reason, and although not the brightest idea, it was built for the common good.
We honestly can't say that about the Taj. I mean, if the Taj was a heap of rocks, would we honestly praise it as a monument of love? No...we only like it because it's a giant monument...but that doesn't mean it wasn't a monumental waste. So we don't really adore the thing because of the love story behind it, or the Shah's grief.
It was built for one person out of the public treasury....that is sad...now if dude built it himself I'd be most impressed.
Re: Taj Mahal is beautiful because
Hard to say, and there's no doubt it is a great tourist trap. But then...that wasn't the intent of the thing...
