Syed/Shah family trees

Shakir75,
I know u r not implying anything.... but I am saying about many syeds I have met.... some pirs and some others... Its always good to knoew ur family background but the question is a syed being equal to ant muslim just converted from lowest of hindu castes.. for me i respect him same as any other muslim..

No offense… but the concept of “Sayyeds” started ONLY in Pakistan because we were a part of India before, & seeing the caste system in India, we created one of our own. So, considering that Syeds R “superior”… cos they descend from the Holy Prophet’s family, lotsa ppl started saying they R Syeds & therefore family trees were required for proof.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I can laugh at this all day long…hehehe…

Dear aidhen, do you want know who encouraged me in the first place to find more about my Sayed ancestry and what kind of people etc.. and the family they belong to?

My best friend from Syria and his father a Syrian.
I guess they were Pakistani in disguise right?

Listen up bro...who's "feeling high" here?? Not me, not Youngbrat, no one. How do you know that there are no Syeds in these central Asian countries?

I have met diffent arabs here in States and discussed this syed thing.. no one has clue about that.. Now most of the arabs or other nationals who came here married local people...

and your point is?

Like I said, if you guys want to take it like that fine with me. For me an’t nothing but family thAng.

And Degas, I dont want to be Arab. I never tell Arab that “oh oh oh listen up…i’m sayed and i’m arab…” I usully say to them that “I a pakhtoon/pashtoon (phatan)” and very very proud of who I am ('n it shows right?

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/supercool.gif

). I dont wish to be Arab or consider my self arab. I’m very happy with who I am and why shouldn’t I be?

Salaaammm…

p.s> I don’t get it. Why are people so upset and feeling so offended? All the guy did was asked if anyone belonged to that family.

yOuNgBrAt,
I know ur good intentions... but being syed is belonging to arabs... how many people who migrated from other countries call themselves other than syeds.. ther r more people claiming to be direct descendents to Holy Prophet than in whole arab world combined... in fact whoever migrated from other countries to sub-continent were called syeds whether they come from any family...

Mr Young Brat For my answer wait please. see you then
;)

first off... we have to differentiate whats right and whats wrong...

yes.. some pple do think that marrying into a syed family is "good" and there is a so called thinking that after an X amount of yrs that girl who is married into a syed family becomes a syed. what nonsense.

secondly, these types of things where rajputs only marry into rajputs and certain syeds only marry into certain syeds totally breaks apart an Ummah. Why should it matter?

thirdly... i believe that i'm muslim first. not pakistani, not arab, not anything else. yes its my heritage.. but heritage ain't takin me to Jannah. and what good is heritage if it breaks me from my religion. i cook arabic food at times, i cook pakistani food.. i've been called egyptian (they say i have egyptian eyes).. they say i look arabic in skirt and hijab.. i look paki in kurta shalwar...and yes my parents are from pakistan. i talk american. i have a pure american accent. when i speak urdu i speak with total pakistani accent. i can understand gujrati. and when i read the Holy Quran.. i try to get my arabic out well as well :) all in all.. i'm muslim. my roots should reflect either how we clung to islam.. or how we came to the light of islam. arab.. or hindu. i am muslim now. and that's what matters.

-mehndi

Some body mentioned that there are no syeds in Arab countries. Why?
Did all syed move to India?
I have not seen any non indian or pakistani calling themselves syed. Why is that?
Does it mean that all syed moved to only India at one time??

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/hehe.gif

Another point to ponder is that syeds are supposed to be of arabic descendent and Arabs are generally much fair and pink in color and taller than indian and pakistani people. Most so called syeds that I have seen in India/pakistan are short and dark in color and clearly of pure indian origin rather than arab origin. It is hard to believe that these syed bear arab blood.
Likely they are of indian origin rather than arabic origin.

I think I explained it clearly.
It matters when you are talking about a race. Syeds are supposed to belong to arabic race and most Indian syeds do not look like arabic race. right?

If a black african claims to belong to british royal family, would anybody believe that after looking at him?

Come to NWFP Pakistan and i will show you how Sayed there look like. Not that i care. But you brought it up.

I agree that NWFP people and some Punjabis look more like arabs in looks. I was referring to common indians belonging to Sind, Bengal, UP, Tamil Nadu etc.
And BTW most NWFP people are pathan not syeds.

OH young, you will get stomach pain if you laugh this much.
As your signature suggests you are taliban or supporter, thats why you are takingit so personally. You did not answer anything else but laughing on one thing i.e. pathan and syed. I agree that there are pathans inother places and that it is a family name just like syed is, So what is the point,Huh!
BTW where is the BladeM post?

Belief is not what mind possesses, it is what possesses the mind!

This is why i was laughing because you dont know what your talking about.

Syeds are found all over the Arab world, I have met lots from Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.

And Iran is also full of them, mostly those descended from Imam Musa Kazem.

My grandma is one such Iranian, hence I am direcly 1/3rd Iranian.

But I have a feeling that a majority of those people claliming to be Syeds in Pakistan are actually fakers.

My mom tells me that during partition, lots of Indian Muslims came over to Pakistan, and after seeing the respect that Syeds generally got in the land, changed their names to Syeds.

These fake Syeds have no Shajirah. They are really wannabes.

Shakir, you are wrong on this one.

Most Syeds are descendents of Imam Zein ul Abideen (AS), however, not all.

Some are descended from Imam Hasan (AS) as well. They are usually Sunnis.

Instead of answering, I would like to add that Syeds are also the "Brahmins' of the entire Arab world, as well as Iran!
