Re: Suits for Ramadan and Eid
Its not a desi thing but everyone gets clothes made - its a celebration just like how you would wear new clothes for a wedding!

Re: Suits for Ramadan and Eid
Gee....I only wanted to share some pics of outfits for Eid...i didnt mean start a rukus...and of course, one should spend more time in reading Quran, learning more about the Seerah, and keeping nawfil fasts in order to prepare for Ramadan.
Let's get that clear, I dont mean to go out and spend tons of money ad to use Ramadha as just an excuse to get clothes. Of course you must live within your means, and in fact as modestly as possible. But many people do take the opportunity to make new clothes at this time of the year. And in celebration of Eid, it is I believe sunnah to make new clothes as a sign of celebration and happiness.

That's fine...I respect your opinion, why dont you share some pics of outfits you like?

We are going to be answerable on day of judgement for everything we have spent on including clothes. It is believed that anything new worn on Friday will not be held accountable later because Friday is considered the 'holy' day where you're suppose to shower, dress up in nice/clean clothes, put ittar on, etc. Same with Ramadan too, of course you're not obligated to go around spending money on new clothes, the emphasis is on wearing nice/clean clothes like we have to on eid. Also, wearing new clothes during ramadan will not have any hisaab on day of judgement :)
Re: Suits for Ramadan and Eid
Theres also a hadees about wearing your best dress for prayers.(It's something along those lines , don't really remember it exactly , so please don't hold me to it)
To me , that translates into just being clean and properly dressed all day long(in other words dont spend the entire day in your pj's)
However, that also doesn't mean that you need to go out and spend lots of money.
Sorry if that derailed the thread..

Hmm i always thot it's just something that's nice and hasn't been worn yet but not necessarily new (like something from last year's paki shopping spree, or one of the lots of jahez outfits etc).....

What you say is mostly right, but we need to be careful on certain things..I also heard from a lot of people the part that the clothes you wear in Ramadan will not have ay hisaab. But when I went to research this for its origin, as to if it was a hadeeth or what, i found that there is no such thing. many things we hear have been passed down over generations, and may not have originated within Islam, ut rather perhaps culturally...and these things we have ot be careful because if we take something which was not originally part of the religion and we attribute it to the religion, we are making a very big mistake, and it is considered bidah.
