Funny, you seem to understand this concept with regards to Gupshup, but you have no comprehension about the difficulty you cause when you do this in life. The difference? Gupshup has not paid for my four year education at an a world class institution.

Seminole I already said show me ONE post EXCEPT at the beginning of this thread coz these posts were in response to my getting S.I.C.K of their constant nagging. According to storch I started all this a YEAR ago. Can you show me a post of mine from a year or even a week ago where I said anything like that?

LuxuryItem I was on a scholarship (thanks to Allah) and my education was paid for by my university.
There is no genuine argument here, storch and Ohioguy are simply looking for reasons no matter how ridiculous to point fingers at foreign students. They haven’t even said in concrete what this so called “gratitude” that they expect foreign students to show should really practically constitute and have not been able to explain/prove that our current stance equates to hypocrisy and ingratitude.

The attitude reflected in your post earlier in this thread you claim “doesn’t count” has reflected your feelings all along. You have had a superior attitude toward white students and probably Americans in general. It was off-putting then and continues to be so. You were challenged on that attitude and instead of trying to understand what might have been offensive in your manner, you dug in your heels and got indignant that anyone dared be offended by the pious and highly intelligent Irem as you are convinced it is not in your character to do so-you are so very “fair minded” that’s its practically impossible.
It was never that big of a deal to start with, and I wish everyone would quit assuming that our expectations are for blind patriotism. Your refusal to examine how you might have offended-your conviction that it’s a near impossibility is what is so continuosly annoying. No one wants thanks. No one wants an apology. There is a saying here as well: “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” You could have stayed wrapped up in the warm blanket of acedemic and social superiority. And if you are right and the U.S. suffers for not being academically rigorous (something we all acknowledge), well then shame on us, we have work to do. But have the courtesy in light of the free education and the opening of doors of opportunity to you to refrain from telling us or your brothers and sisters how lame we are.

Irem, let me see if I can put on a gora hat and explain things from a pakistani who is a US citizen now.
Some of the blanket statements you made regarding the inability of the goras not being able to do the research were out of line to say the least. I am not sure what you majored in at Stanford, but all the "sissy" majors are mostly researched by these goras. Guess what, economics, business management is driven by these researchs and findings.
Now to the actual point. How will you feel if a gora came to pakistan for studies (folks we are assuming, so hold the jokes..ok) and spent four years at Pak and started dissing paki way of life, paki habits and culture? Please answer this question honestly. We will discuss further after you answer.

You’ll even find me saying that Pathans (ppl beloning to the north west province of Pakistan) need to work on their education and girls in Pakistan don’t choose challenging majors (that trend is changing now), does that translate to meaning that Pathans are lame or girls in Pakistan are lame?

Kaleem bhai isn’t it true that goras don’t go into majors like EE and CS mostly? Its my personal opinion, but I do think that non-science majors ARE “sissy” majors b/c they are not demanding or challenging enough, and they are easy. If you believe otherwise, then explain to me why.

I will feel offended for sure.
However, Kaleem bhai, I don’t know if you have even read my posts, I have never dissed Americans entirely. I oppose their foreign policy, true that. I oppose certain things in their lifestyle, true that, but I also oppose things in certain Pakistani’s lifestyles.
And, I have appreciated good things about America too, BUT these guys never see that, coz they only want to see the criticisms coz they simply want to pick a fight with me, that’s all

Sissy majors give us art, literature, movies, understanding of the human mind and behavior, ability to communicate without bumbling over words. Sissy majors give us governance and law...they give us the way to monetize and derivatize what we create....
Your thinking reeks of parochial and backward upbringing. It is sad really...if you would have instead majored in Art History along with CS at Stanford, maybe your horizons would have opened up.
