Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
oh dont be so coy now. lets not rewrite history. she wrote this sentence two days ago, and you've been bashing her on every occasion since time immemorial. there was nothing crude in her expression when she advocated siding with China, and remember the ruckus u guys created then?
given how consistently you people (all of you happen to be either white or indian) have been on her case, I dont really blame her of being sick of these white and indian people.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
Ravage, if someONE has issue with Irem, it is not because she is muslim or a Pakistani. It is because she is IREM. THESE white and Indian people don't care if she was from fking pluto (although the mentality fits) or Pakistan.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
we assume, unless u prove to the contrary by posting your picture. thats how we populate picture gallery. by the way you werent included in the people she had complaints against.
This was March of '03. in “America: the root of all evil” thread.
It was where the American Taxpayers love affair with Irem began. Under her scholarship circumstances, yes I found the above statements crude and offensive.
In a subsequent thread, she said she owed her opportunity to study in America to Allah, her parents etc. All perfectly fine. But her statement was a pointed refusal to acknowledge any other source for her wonderful opportunity. Also offensive.
Her recent words have been some of the usnpoken subtext that was transparent all along.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
Why the assumption? 1/3 of the US is non-white.
btw she might have included me in her cry baby complaint thread because I found her posts to be hypocritical and racist as well.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
storch:im sorry i should have been clearer. by crudeness i meant language. the language is perfectly fine, and you dont have issues with her expression or her mannerisms. its the opinions you have issues with.. which sorta conflicts with

I couldn't care less about her opinions. It's the circumstance and the manner with which she offers them.

seminole, the 2/3s is still more likely than the 1/3s , and since we're mathematically minded, we make the safer assumption.
im going to remove any irem specific posts hereon.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
I’m going to cut to the chase with a little crudeness myself.
It has been painfully apparent to me since the “America the root of all Evil” thread as well as “Our Phone’s tapped” that Irem thinks she is “the siht” along with her fellow MSA cohorts.
She has credited everbody including herself for her successes, but will not acknowledge the part of the “gora” society that produced and largely financed it.
She has an unbelievably superior attitude and I just can’t figure out how you’re going to convince me that I’m supposed to be comfortable with these “opinions”.
So it doesn’t really matter whether it’s crude language or not.
“I think plucky little brown people from South Asia are really only good for weaving cheap textiles or pulling rickshaws”.
This was not written crudely. It does, however reflect a rather crude and ill-informed opinion. Please give moderately intelligent people the credit to determine for themselves what they find to be offensive. No matter what language is used.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
Is it really safe to classify people by skin color or anything else when the margin of error is so high and stakes so high? Besides, if we were really mathematically minded we wouldn’t make assumptions based on a 33% error rate, especially when defending someone who is making generalizations and hateful comments toward a race of people (or 67% of the US).
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
Ravage, there are a whole series of intermediate discussions where various students implied that the United States Universities were dependent on them, and US students were inferior....
Here is the real point. The American Government, and to a much greater degree Universities here are the creation of Americans. They are institutions that took centuries in some cases to build. Each year the supporters of Universities donate billions to Universities. The sometimes outrageous criticism of the United States government, at some point becomes criticism of it's citizens. In one breath to call us ignorant or gullible, then to come HERE to be EDUCATED is sort of a contradiction on it's face. When criticising the government, it is WISE to understand that it is the same government that ALLOWS you to come here, and has facilitated the opportunity you have.
Americans are proud of our country, and we are proud of our government. We view our mistakes as minor, and occasional. We view our achievements as substantial. That is a consistant feeling among Americans, whether they like the current administration or not. At some point foreign students criticism crosses a line from healthy dialog to snotty and self-righteous.
They should learn the difference. This is when they become unwelcome guests.
Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies
those are your views OG, and others can have equal conviction in their views. you are free to express them here as are others, without consequence. you are proud of your country, we are proud of ours.
the moment you start calling people snotty and self righteous and remembering their lines for years, just take a break and go out a walk with your dog.
