Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

Yeah it was a bit after your time but things did not change much

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

nicer folks got the opportunities

Great point.

I think, we need to ask all international students to sign a paper stating they agree with US's foreign policy and subscribe to Fox News the minute they enter the great land!

Pakistanis are poor coz we r emotional people who r non materialistic. We love our families and want to do as much as we can fo them. Amreka takes advantage of this kamzori of ours and lures us. Mind you, it is the produce of OUR universities and peelay sakools that are going and making it big in Amreeka.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

and I quoteth myself:

what a congregation of idiots.

you who whine for some thanks for the scrumptious four course meals, and polite reminders that the dessert was delectable, if a little salty, how much coddling a day do you need? should you prefer it, would you like us to spoon with you everytime someone tells you that america has problems with its foreign policy? after all, you did subsidize our education, terribly spoil our ability to spell in english properly, expose us to some of the most tasteless pakistani food possible etc etc etc?

since when did ksa become such a great example that it is cited in every frikkin defensive post about if saudi arabia would allow students there to speak out. feck no, but they dont champion the cause of freedom of speech and human rights, invading countries, killing them so they can speak out.

ksa is a pit. a hellhole when it comes to treating everyone like decent human beings. comparing that to anyone, including pakistan is an abomination.

do you cite someone of German origin about Hitler if he has grievances about an american punching him in the nose? or for instance do you tell him to stop talking about FBI pinioning him into the ground and bashing his head in, when the Gestapo would’ve hit him ever so harder, in even more painful places?

AFAIK irem hasnt shouted death to america, hunt every pig eating beer breath down like the swine he is. thats impolite in my book, and combined with the constitutional right to bear arms, a little dangerous.

edit: for the record, the education i recieve here is absolutely and without question phenomenal and CANNOT be bettered elsewhere, not atleast in this century. if you ask nicely, i’ll make that part of my signature. that way it will accompany all my posts about american crimes, as you so desperately seem to need it.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

irem

someone touched a nerve or two or three there eh :)

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

Being a student myself who studied and graduated in the US, I have always found this country to be very welcoming, especially to international students, never saw any discrimination in academia. I also believe there are alot of resources that these universities allocate exclusively for international students, and yes, they do add alot to the diversity and culture of the university. Furthermore, the whole experience to me was so enriching and I miss it so much that I will be coming back as a graduate student.

Fraudia, whats with the signature :hehe:

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

Remember, this is who you are so defensive about, Ravage. She’s a real peach.

This attitude has been abundantly clear in her previous posts on the subject, though she only now is perhaps ā€œfacetiouslyā€ using stronger language.

Her right to express herself freely as a visiting student in the U.S. does in no way disqualify her from the opportunity she has had and perhaps will have again for grad school.

But 'gad, man have you read her posts: ā€œFree trade w/Indiaā€ the one in feedback you cited.

If your looking to make someone your cause celebre in your ā€œUnfettered Access to Educationā€ for Pakistani students campaign, you could do so much better.

The defense of her attitude doesn’t really help your argument.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

on this issue Im in disagreement with both Irem and you. i dont think there should be restrictions on what foreign students can think, they are perfectly entitled to their opinions, just as non pakistani posters should be able to express any opinion on this bbs, so long as it is expressed without abuse etc.

as 5abi says he is, im about as fond of censorship as UC Berkeley.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

Where I've it found diffficult to see any possibility for disagreement is how a selfish, immature and profoundly ingracious attitude can elicit a very justifiable reaction on the part of some American posters.

Is it so difficult to see how irksome her behavior is? Yet, you continue to rush to her defense as if we were railing against the very concept of foreign students as opposed to just railing against abject ignorance and crudeness.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

lemme be honest about one thing. she is my friend, and i wouldnt necessarily speak up so much for any typical pakistani student.

the idea sir, is that you are asking her to moderate her opinions based on her being a foreign student. firstly, she isnt a frothing at the mouth anti american to begin with, she repeatedly acknowledged in that earlier thread that she thought americans were good people and would welcome any in her country as her guests and benefactors. but negative thoughts do tend to stick the most, and thats what you read. secondly, im arguing against the principle that causes you to demand irem cut her comments back.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

I couldn’t care less about her opinions. It’s the circumstance and the manner with which she offers them.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

i havent seen anything crude/offensive in her expression of her opinions.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

Ravage is right...

"we're the smartest people on the planet

any university anywhere in the world would give its right arm to have us as students in it

what abt u guys? white ppl r all sissies and dont even venture into the real sciences coz it takes HARD WORK khoon paseena (blood & sweat). look at all the hardcore science depts, do u see any GORAY there? i dont."

The above quote from Irem is not crude or offensive. it is just stupid.

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

To quoteth Irem:

"Agent Smith we can't be neutral. China is our friend. Didn't China help us in the past against India?

We should first import the Muslims back from Amreeka (otherwise they'll risk persecution) and then side with China."

In discussing a theoretical war between China and the US..... Now there is a greatful student, loyal to Stanford....

Re: Students from abroad are welcomed and should come to the U.S. for studies

OG whats your point. thats her opinion on the issue, and again it wasnt expressed crudely.

matsui, i think she was being facetious, and even so it wasnt crude language.
