Stretching Your Dollar

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

dinner portions are huge and expensive and ful of calories. Most resturants can give you lunch size portions if you request for them.

If you want to try an expensive swanky resturant - try it out for lunch. much cheaper.

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

We buy in bulk from bj. Mostly we use the coupons . Sometimes if a store is having discount on certain grocery item, We buy it more .

About food. My husband is a foodie so he doesnt want to compromise on mean . So chicken, beef or mutton dishes are cooked at least 5 days a week

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

I use to do that and my husband hate it

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

H-Mart or K-Mart ? Where is H-Mart ?

And what about IKEA ?

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

Many people think IKEA is expensive but in certain things its very economical.

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

Only the best place for all your sabzi needs. Hmart.com: Online Shopping for Asian Grocery, Korean Kimchi, Rice Cookers, Appliances & more at everyday low prices.
I’ve heard IKEA offers free breakfast one some days…the chocolate is good too.

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

Is H-mart a Chinese store ? Does it smell of rotten meat when you enter the store ? :cb:

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

I am surprised TLK has not point out a dollar note cannot be stretched ( unless it is crumpled). And a coin - most definitely not.

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

H-KEA is also an option.

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

Dude, it’s Korean. It smells of lots of things but the meat really isn’t one of them. The meat section is actually really small, all in all.

It’s a cool store though. Has pretty much everything and it’s pretty well priced.

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

So no slaughtered ducks hanging upside down near the entrance, like my local Chinese store ? disappointed

Chinese, Korean. What’s the difference.

But don’t tell that to them or they may get angry. :fatee:

I used dishwasher tablets from 'finish' but last month I tried a store brand just for the sake of it and found them equally good if not better AND it costs less than half of what 'finish' costs! :D/QUOTE i also use finish brand. Which brand r u using now? Is it normal dish washing liquid?

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

  • When I go to grocery without a list, I try not to take cart but use basket. This keeps me off from throwing in unnecessary items into my cart.

  • As far as I remember, we never bought any other detergent but Tide. 2-3 month ago I was at Real Canadian Super Store and saw Purex on sale. I thought I should give it a try for laundry such as socks, dusting cloths, chandani etc it worked so well that we have totally switched to Purex for all of our laundry needs and its almost half the cost of Tide

  • I have put electricity rates schedule (on and off peak rates) beside washer/dryer and dishwasher so we make sure we use these machines during off peak hours (which is almost half the rate)

  • We try to buy in bulk whenever we can as we have enough space to store bathroom rolls, paper towels, oil etc

  • I used to wear Obsession (cologne) almost daily even when going to play cricket but lately I have bought couple of other a bit less expensive brands (and I like the fragrance too). So now I wear obsession only to work and for special occasions

Re: Stretching Your Dollar

:smack: Who wears cologne these day ? :nahi:

Only in Pakistani TV dramas do I see guys spraying away all over their shirts :smack: with enthusiasm and I am like  and then :cb:.
