spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

STOPPIT, I would just say, Allah tumhe iski jaza-e-khair de :)

hammna he is helping me but as i was asking for shortcuts he said try for visit visa ..... and my hubby is too lazy :-P

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

alright best of luck then. visit visa will be more of a hassle as people have mentioned upthread

yes dats y i will go for spouse visa

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

how can a husband be lazy if his wife's immigration to his country is depending on him.. good luck with everything!

Also remember, it can take more than six months so dont be hoping that after six months, you will be in UK magically! I know someone and it took them two years partially due to lazy husband not getting his stuff done on time and partially due to not providing documentation as needed just to rush things!!

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

GeminitheGreat the nonchalant attitude of the husband is what worried me too. he will be in a better place to get everything together having gone thru the process himself. As a first timer everything seems so overwhelming and confusing. also if he dsnt provide all the papers on time the application may be rejected.
i dnt want to be all doom and gloom but they can reject visas on the smallest of things

can u tell me after passing IELTS test or before that i can apply ????
and the papers date like utility bills and taxation documents can b how much old on previous dates

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

you apply once you get your IELTS result.
And all the bills, bank statements etc shd be within 3 mnths

thanks hamna and stopit ....i will ask few more questions

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

no problem :) best of luck

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Hi Porcelain me and hubby are just about to finish up our application and thought I'd help advise you how much I know. I haven't seen him a whole year this month so it can be long depending on your financial position atm mainly. The rest can quite easily be produced or gathered. The current processing times for Pak are between 2 and 3 months though a few are getting sooner or later but 12ish weeks. Just think of it as time to spend last few months with your family because in reality there's not alot of option so make best of your situation.

I would advise you not to go for visitors visa. As soon as it comes to light you're married they really don't issue them easily especially from Pak. It will require time and effort better spent on your spouse visa and if you do get rejected for the visitor visa it will only leave a mark on your record which you will then have to declare every time you apply for further leave to remain and indefinite which means that your application will no longer be straight forward and so take longer to process. It's not worth it trust me.

Does your husband meet the financial requirement? That is earning at least or above £18,600? That's the biggie really when it comes to applying as a spouse these days! If he is then that's cool, you need 6 previous wage slips showing £1550 or more a month (totals £18,600 pa) and 6 months bank statements basically. If he earns less then you can use savings which must b £16,000 PLUS (the shortfall multiplied by 2.5) There is no leeway on the financial requirement so make sure this is water tight. If no income and just savings then you can show savings of £62,500 which obviously is not possible for many but just for your information. Other than this there is no real option unless he is on disability allowance or carers allowance which is worked out separately.

The English language requirement you must meet is a minimum of level A1 at a UKBA approved test centre. There are places all over Pak which you can sit it but be sure it's an approved test because I followed a few people from Pak who were rejected on the English test being wrong and the appeal process is LONG. From what I heard as long as you speak basic English taught at school you'll be fine and reading your posts you'll have no trouble I'm sure. If you are applying after October 2013 then the minimum level is going up to level B1. I'd advise you just to do B1 even if you apply before as you'll need to do the test when you apply for further leave to remain after the initial spouse visa expires after 2.5 years so best to get it out the way.

Apart from that there's the main form which you fill out online which is VAsomething (I can't remember but it will be on the links posted for you), which you fill online then print and take with you to Gerry's where you submit and pay the fee. Alongside this you need to do the relevant appendix which for a spouse is Appendix 2- financial requirement form. Also there's a sponsorship undertaking form which your hubby needs to print and sign called form SU07/12. Now on the guidance this is NOT required but alot of applicants have been rejected from Pak and India for not attaching. It's a simple 1 page form with hubbys address and work address that takes 2 mins to fill in so just add it aswell as you won't lose anything for attaching it but people have been rejected for not attaching and it's not worth the hassle of going to appeal even though it's their mistake.

Ok thats the forms and financial/ english requirement. These are very easy forms which are basic info. The thing is all forms needs to be backed with your evidence and just remember the whole application will be decided based on what you send and nothing else so be thorough.

I would advise to list the evidence in sections to make it easier to put together.

So there's your docs:
Applicant's letter (explain relationship, plans etc)
Your passport
birth certificate or ID card
2 passport pictures
english test pass certificate
tb test evidence

Spouses:
Sponsorship letter(briefly going over relationship, how you communicate, plans for future)
Copy of passport (certified)
birth certificate or driving licence
passport picture

Evidencing marriage:
The completed forms as above and you nikah paper translated and attested.
Wedding pics
Skype logs
FB logs
Calls (don't send calling cards as they don't hold any value but you can get calling cards which show call logs online
Flight confirmation/ tickets

Meeting financial (this is from your spouse):
6 months pay slips
6 months worth bank statements
Letter from employer confirming details as per guidance on ukba website
Job contract signed

Accomodation (again what hubby needs to send you) depends where you are staying but generally:
house Contract
Letter from owner if not you confirming you can stay with your hubby or land registry if owned
utility bills in your name or owners
property inspection report if poss

I think that's it really. Make sure when you have it all you photocopy everything. Most importantly you and your hubby need to read this all for yourselves as said before. If you don't know yourself what you're trying to meet or apply for then really you will get stuck at some point and this is not something to take lightly or stress about but not actively help yourself by reading andd getting info yourself. I didn't have a clue about all this a few months ago and now I can parrot it out without second thought because it is very important to know everything and what exactly the process will entail.

Once you have your docs you can call gerrys to book an appt which doesn't take more than a few days atm so then you submit and from then it should be about 12weeks. How long it takes for you to gather the docs with your hubby is up to you both. Do be thorough though and good luck!

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Just want to add the form and evidence must be submitted to Gerry's all within 28 days of the latest bank statement and most recent payslip. This is a must and if it goes over 28 days then you'll have to wait for the next pay to be up to date!

thanks fatima ur reply gave me alot lot of info and things which were confusing me cleared out more and more....i want to ask few questions....
which english test is easiest one and takes lesser time ? plus if u are in lahore can u suggest me a gud institute
do i need to change my passport and id card wid my husband name or the older one can work too?

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

ielts has two types, Academic and General. General is much easier and also you need to get the practice test books. do them as much as possible and i dnt think you would need to take classes for it

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

i didnt change my passport or id card.

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Omg you've got me so worried now I'm over the 28 days from bank and payslips and my wife submitted the papers will the reject the visa now.please do let me knw

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Hope you are doing well now OP

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Sohaib- How far off were you on the 28 days? I just checked the annex for financial requirements (it's somewhere on general section 3.something) and it does state the most recent bank statement and wage slips must be no more than 28 days from submission. There was a new clarification where the ECO can request documents if missing or need more of a set that has been sent but not sure how much they exercise this. When did you submit you application? All the best for it. It is a long wait but hopefully it will be the end soon.

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Porcelain- the English test at level A1 is all that's required up until October 2013. It is very easy and tests only basic english. Trust me from your posts you'll be absolutely fine even at the proposed higher test requirement of B1. I would suggest to just do the B1 as you will need it when you apply to extend your visa after 2.5 years and you won't have difficulty. Google something along the lines of a1 english test revision practice and you will be able to see yourself and calm your nerves! You should be able to book a test fairly quickly and I advise you to get on it soon as it may require a week or more wait and certificates can take up to 8 weeks to be ready if I remember right. I've no idea about any locations in Pak and hubby did his in Pindi or Islamabad so not much help but do make sure it's a UKBA approved centre as people have had problems with wrong test. Please don't just look for the easiest or shortcut routes because I have seen people rejected for rushing into it all and looking to get the application in asap without researching and then overlooking things or getting caught up. It's not worth the stress of reapplying. Spending a few days/ weeks extra now is far easier than the alternative. Hope you're making more progress with your app!

Re: spouse visa or visit visa for UK

Thanks for asking im ok just finding it all stressful,im off by 10 days a couple of things popped in the way.My wife's submitted the file now to late and any one know what "application forwarded to Islamabad OC on 05/10/2013" mean, they gave a projected timeline of 3 months.
