The form is straightforward but I don't think it is sufficient to provide only the basic documentation they request.

Most people use websites or immigration forums to find out exactly what the UKBA expect and provide beyond the basics requested so that there is no question that the sponsor has adequate means to support them both, especially since the spouse visa period (no recourse to public funds) is now 5 years.

Generally, people also submit a letter from the sponsor to summaries all the information (when and where they got married, how long they knew each other prior, how they remained in contact (evidence), summary of everything related to finances, accommodation status etc etc) and documentation they are providing.

get an english tranlation of your nikah nama attested by the registrar (i think), you provide both the original one and the translation. also your husband should write a letter of support sayin you d/o/b this passport no this are his wife and he has accomodation and funds to support you. proof of which will be his tenency agreement if he rents or some other documents if he owns his own property and proof for funds will be his bank statements/ pay slips. people also give photos of the couple and family together.

That's really great.

Not everyone has a straightforward situation. Spend some time on any immigration forums and that will be clear. Repeating myself - you need to leave the entry clearance officier in no doubt about any of the circumstances and sometimes that requires a little extra paperwork or documentation, so there is no harm in being thorough.

The checklist is no longer at the end of the form. There is now an information guide separately:

Evidence of your relationship to your sponsor and any contact between you
This could be a letter from your sponsor confirming your relationship and that they are supporting your application along with copies of:
 birth certificate or adoption certificate
 marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate
 death or divorce certificate
 photographs of your wedding, civil partnership ceremony or other time spent
together
 phone records
 emails, letters or cards

  • You should not submit DVDs or video cassettes*

this seems quite thorough. OP get on the website and read it thoroughly. then if you any questions you can ask knowledgeable ppl (stoppit is giving quite good advice)

i am just worried that you are not reading that first and want to rely on other people to do it for you. the website should be your first port of call.

No worries, I think we are both just trying to help.

I agree, that’s why I said in one of my earlier posts that she should get a proper computer and sit down and go through the website, forums and additional helpful websites until she is clear about everything. With the new rules, things are a lot tougher.

Also, I cannot find it now but there are new guidelines for the nikkah nama registration within Pakistan.

Reading it, I don’t think that anything has changed if you had a properly registered nikkah in the first place but make sure it is so.

Don't worry about the English test. As it states on the UK border Agency Website. They want to see if you can understand basic English. They will not test your reading and writing skills.

Porcelain doll I Had to take IELTS, if you have basic English you can pass it which you seem to have. There are some practice books and CDs the format of the test is exactly the same. I have forgotten what the minimum requirement is. The test result takes a month to take. You need to get moving with the process. Is your husband not helping at all?
