Day by day, I just seem to lose my motivation. I used to be an over-achiever with a sense of deep passion for whatever i did. Now that just doesnt seem to be there anymore. The work I do is more ordinary than extraordinary and I have definately lost the passion & motivation. WTF?
What do you guys do to keep motivated at your work or even school? Help a brother out
Honestly, I don’t understand.
Money, Prospects , etc etc
nothing is a motivating factor.
I think its the age? You have to struggle…but then there are people who are so motivated to do good in everything.
Hmm…actually i believe we don’t "lose’’ it, we just replace it…we might not have motivation for something like school lets say, it could’ve been replaced and now we have motivation for something else um lets say being all religious or something…so maybe our ideologies changed and so things that were a motivating factor before, just aren’t cutting it for us now…and whatever new ideologies we have, they’ve caused a change in the things that motivated us.
relax ma man.. i once read an article in “cosmopoliatian”.. yes i know its a ladies magazin.. bt hay.. got some good **** in there
neway it was bout overacheivers.. like this chick givin her story.. how she use to push herslef to be best.. and she ended up abusin herselves or punishin herself if she doesnt do well.. and a time came wen she lost control.. and went mental.. so had to go a to psychologist..
so ma man.. u gota relax.. wat dff is it gona make.. u get 99% or 79%… it might take 2hrs of study to get 79%.. bt it will take 6 hours to get that extra 99%.. u knew the big picture… its just to make it “perfect” u had to workd 4hrs extra.. and wat if u did study for 6hrs.. and u still get 79% or lower.. then wat???
so relax.. go wid da flow.. do well.. and enjoy life.. its a big world out there.. its unfair that some ppl are good at everything.. even wen they dont attend classes :@.. dats coz dey give bit of time into everything.. so they knwlege is wide.. so they can give more examples.. and rather being specialised in one category.. they hve multiple knowlege in many categories..
mid 20s, Sahar, you gotta be kidding me, wait till you guys get to my age, lekin i have never felt tired of work or any less motivated, I am happy to be out of the house and at work day after day after day. I love to work from the house on weekends. I start new projects and love finishing them. Tum log nikammay aur kaamchor lagtay ho.
You and I need to have chai together sometime on a rainy afternoon. I experiened what you are experiencing. One thing that really helped me is to be honest with myself and get away from what I was doing and try something else. Maybe take time off from your studies (as soon as your degree is done), and work for a year or two. You'll find you will be very motivated to get back into the role of a student!
I think it is the overall frustration in the air. True motivation and satisfaction will come by helping fellow human beings in any capacity. Meeting deadlines and finishing projects for corrupt , greedy and scandel ridden corporations will never give you real satisfaction. Live a simple life, have some real friends and help dukhee insaniyaat. :) :)
hmmmmm.. i'm slowing down after a bit .. but i know thats just temporary.. moment i will run into a challenge or a goal, i will start hammering again ..
back in school days, i was short on money all the time, so i used to work, that was my motivation, i used to work to stay in school, and i had to stay in school to study, i had to study cuz i wanted to earn a decent money, from which a nice life
i'm only slowing down cuz i'm running out of challenges in this new role of work.. i am still motivated though ..
i dunno what to tell u bro.. except, decide WHATS important for u that u WANT and then run to get it.. and then remind urself, u're doing this for WHAT purpose..
i think its important to have a vision or a dream even that you need to work towards and that serves as a big motivation factor. I think thats what faizy was alluding to. That's my problem, it seems i have lost my vision. Not that I don't have any aspirations or a tangible vision, but the obstacles seems SO big that it seems worthless to even start oursuing my loft goals. I have a hard time convinving myself to give 110% when I know that I still might not my goal. Pretty frustrating I tell ya.
My suggestion is you need to reassess where you are in life. What you want, where you are and where you wanna be in the future. Losing your motivation is natural occurence that happens to most of us at some stage or another simply because life runs you down. Things become monotonous and you lose focus on the important things in life.
There are a couple of ways that i know where you can 'get your life back on track'. One way, prehaps the best way, is to take time out and reconnect with your spirtiual/religious side. If your a muslim, perform Ummurah or Hajj. I found the post by Aashi to be particularly inspirational.
That brings me to my second point. You need to do things that inspire you. Things that create passion and excitement. Activities that work the brain more than the mundane and routine activities of life do. If you can find something that does that for you then it should help kickstart/restart your life and bring you back to your usual best. Obviously im know expert but I also feel the same way you do. Even writing this post has made me realise what i can do to help myself. So a third suggestion is writing down what your feeling helps!:D
