So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

So when are we going to see that? Have been hearing news in the media such as PCB administration having a soft stance against rebel players, PCB not enforcing bans on official/coaches accosicated with ICL, Inziman/Moin Khan who were once criticizing Shoaib Malik captaincy are now voicing support for him, ICL administration not certain anymore if Badshahs will compete in the upcoming ICL season etc etc etc

I won’t be surprised to see PCB removing the bans from the Pakistani players in the near future. Come to think of it what worse could PCB face if they do it? Is ICC going to punish PCB? ICC a dead organization probably will have no clue what to do and will probably wait for a directive from BCCI or ACB.

Interestinly, an ICL associated banned player, Mohammad Yousuf have been included in the lastest ICC test batsmen ranking on the number 2 spot :hehe:

Anyway, do you guys think PCb is going to do that?

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

Whether PCB is going to do that or PCB have their hands full (seems to be the case with convincing every board in the world that it is safe to visit), Pakistan should remove the bans on ICL players, and no less. BCCI will throw Sialkot Stallions away, it's coming sooner or later. BCCI is already pulling strings of putting Sri Lankan tour out of Pakistan's picture. I really don't know how long will PCB continue to take this kind of bullish behavior. If BCCI refuses to tour, PCB should let the dogs loose. ICC can do jack about it.

Thanks for mentioning that. If the rumours are correct then yes they might be replaced by an english county.

i've heard tht stallions will be replaced by 2 english counties .... in reply of generosity they showed for india

John Buchanan, the Kolkata Knight Riders coach, has confirmed the team has put up Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar for trade during the ongoing IPL transfer window. “We don’t have room for both Umar Gul and Shoaib in the pace department. Shoaib is up for trade,” Buchanan said. Kolkata had signed on Shoaib for US$425,000 in last year’s auction. He played only three out of Kolkata’s 14 games, picking up five wickets and conceding 54 runs in his seven overs (CricInfo Blogs - The Buzz)

Definitely the signs are there. The relationship has gotten much worse and PCB has done nill about it, yet.

Butt still clueless about ICL rebels status

Ijaz Butt on Monday gave yet another proof of how unaware he is about key Pakistan cricket issue when he said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cannot clear the country’s Indian Cricket League (ICL) rebels **unless the International Cricket Council (ICC) recognises the breakaway league.

**The PCB chairman, it seems, genuinely believes that all players associated with the ICL are banned by the ICC — the game’s governing body in the world. Ask ICC officials and they will tell you a different story.

When asked to comment on Butt’s remarks about the ICL, ICC spokesman Brian Murgatroyd said that there must be a misunderstanding over the ICL issue. “The ICC hasn’t banned the ICL or its players. It’s the relevant boards that have done it,” he said. Butt, who is yet to prove himself as an able PCB chief, had commented that the PCB cannot lift the ban on the country’s ICL rebels unless the ICC sanctions the unofficial league.

Wowies.

Will comment on this soon. Amazing read.

Just want to vent, first of all screw ICC, screw BCCI, screw IPL and ICL let the ICL player play for Pakistan, BCCI, ACB, SAFB, ECB and NZCB have totally screwed PCB, if they wont play in Pak due to security issues why why why did England go back to India after the Mumbai thing this is not right and we all know it!!!

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

I would want PCB to remove the ban from all Pakistani ICL players...just in response to the pathetic behavior of BCCI...

but I really dont want to see those same garbage players back in the Pakistan squad and this ICL ban is a great excuse to keep them as far away as possible from the Pakistani team.

Imran Nazir, Imran Farhat, Hasan Raza, Taufeeq Umer, Mohammad Sami, Arshad Khan, etc have been given more than enough opportunities to prove themselves at the international level but have always failed. Doing well against 3rd class Indian domestic players once in a while is no sign of improvement.

I think Yousuf is the only player who would be missed in test matches...but I think we have enough batting talent in the likes of Umer Amin, Fawad Alam, and many other promising upcoming youngters to fill that gap in the upcoming months.

Rana uncle would be another asset for any T20 team...but at the most he's probably got 2 more years left in him but we have Tanvir and Gul developing so well that im sure Pakistani team can do without him.

Razzaq is pretty much done as a bowler...he is a liability as a bowler and as a fielder and he just doesnt have the same firepower against quality opposition while batting anymore. Plus, we already have enough all rounders in the Pakistani team as it is...no room for anymore.

Also, with all the crap Yousuf has recently said about Malik...and Malik being retained as captain...I really don't see the two of them playing in the same team again. Either Yousuf was sure Malik wont get retained as captain or he had no idea how badly the ICL will treat him and his fellow 'Baadshah's' after the Mumbai incident...Yousuf must be hating himself for saying so much crap about Malik...Yousuf probably wishes he could somehow turn the clock back...and ever since the Mumbai incident...Yousuf hasnt made a single statement...that proves he's in a confused and shocked state and doesn't know what to do.

So in that sense...I believe PCB should keep the ban on the ICL players and just show BCCI and ICC that look we didn't unban these players cuz of you...because there really isnt anything about any of these ICL players that would be worth further ruining PCB's relationship with BCCI and ICC. Pakistan is already isolated as it is...we don't need more isolation because of these overrated ICL players who dont deserve to be a part of the Pakistani team anyway...

plus they knew when they signed up for ICL that we would banned to ever represent Pakistan ever again...yet they still did for money...even if its not for money they still knew they're facing a life ban by joining this rebel league...

Looks like it is beginning to hurt Yousuf in the pockets

Yousuf slams PCB for not standing up to BCCI

Cricinfo - Yousuf slams PCB for not standing up to BCCI

Mohammad Yousuf, the Pakistan batsman who recently signed up to the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their subservience to the Indian board, particularly in their ongoing policy of life bans on ICL players.
Some hope had emerged for Pakistan players involved with the ICL to have their bans lifted after PCB director general Javed Miandad openly questionedthe rationale of the ban. He called on all cricket boards to resolve the issue and restore normalcy, especially in Pakistan, which has lost several cricketers to the ICL.
“I just say the Pakistan board should take its own independent decision. It should not toe the line of the Indians,” Yousuf said in an interview on a popular show on Geo Super, a local sports channel. “What have they given us? They even refused to tour the country recently.”
“There is no such ruling from the ICC on ICL players. Tell me are we committing some crime going to play in the league? I say there is nothing to stop the board from lifting the ban on us if it wants to. Javed Miandad is now director general and he should keep his word.”
Yousuf, for the second time in as many months, also launched a stinging attack on the current Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik and the selectors for not treating him with enough respect. Yousuf was never considered for the captaincy at any stage and was omitted from Pakistan’s Twenty20 plans. He again called into question Malik’s qualifications for the captaincy.
“Tell me on what grounds did they decide I was not fit for Twenty20 cricket? What was the criteria for deciding this?” Yousuf said. “Tell me how did Shoaib Malik deserve to be the captain? How can you make a player a captain who is not certain of a place in the national Test or one-day team.”
Ironically, Yousuf is currently ranked No.2 in the ICC Test rankings despite being ineligible to play international cricket and despite Pakistan not playing a single Test last year.

Personally I do not want to see any of the ICL-banned players back in the side barring Yousuf. Yousf is an exceptional case and his batting is needed in tests. He does have a point here. Miandad recently came out in support of these banned players and since there is no such ICC ruling, it makes no sense to persist with these bans. Let's see if Miandad can back his words with some action now that he is in a position of authority

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

^ I agree. I guess its about time that ICC gives its official ruling.

In fact its other way round and ICC has given nod to ICL players by including them in ICC players ratings (for eg Yousuf as No3 in test) and this means that they "officially" don't have any problem with ICL guys. Boards should have guts to stand and be counted !

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

Here is something quite interesting.

Mohammad Sami is playing from Customs team in the latest version of Quaid-e-Azam trophy.

Pakistan Cricket Board - official website

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

^ Cricinfo and PCB website are both making an error. This Mohammad Sam is a batsman...not the same Sami that played for Pakistan...cricinfo made the same mistake as well...

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

^ the link must be pointing towards the wrong profile then

Don’t think that PCB/Uncle Butt would like to piss off BCCI at a time when they are hoping to play with India

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

well done

Re: So is PCB going to remove bans from Pakistani ICL players?

hmmmmmmmm

ICL recruits begin fight against bans with letter to PCB

Pakistan’s ICL recruits have finally restarted a legal process to fight the bans imposed on them by the PCB from playing domestic and international cricket. A letter has been sent by the legal firm of retired judge Fakhruddin G Ebrahim to the PCB on behalf of the players. Currently, however, the communication is not “a legal notice”, a board official said.
