So i am met...

Weird morning. Met an African gentleman from Nigeria named Mohammed at the office today. New guy, so we were sitting and having lunch. I was asking him questions about Nigeria, the ethnic tensions and what not, you know the religious issues and stuff. The discussion was going towards a fruitful discussion when he mentioned something odd that confused me.

He stated he was a persecuted individual by the rest of the Muslims. I thought it was because of his tribe and stuff. But he explained it was because he considered Mirza the final prophet. Of course that triggered in my mind he is Ahmadi.

I was left in a delimma. Do I correct the man that he is infact not Muslim or do leave him in his own ignorance. I haven’t come across a solution to this problem yet but I can see the local sudanese having a major issue on this…

How would you react to such a situation. I don’t want advice on how to address it. I will do so myself, but I wanted to know how you would react in such a situation.

Re: So i am met…

Not offending him, talk to him . lay it all out to him, that with the beleif he has, he isnt considered a muslim and what he needs to do and tell him all the facts and evidences. making sure that your satisfied that you ve told him everything that there is to knw in this sittuation.

Now its upto him to take the new path or continue being prosecuted.

This way he will be aware what the true faith is, you wont be Forcing anything onto him and most of All your Haq will be Fulfilled by guiding him to the right way. and if end of the day he doesnt agree with you. then he himself has to answer for what ever he chooses to follow.

just something to mention. If you knw that you can change someone or tell em without offending them, and you believ that it you will be helping someone.. then there is NO harm in trying is there. :hmmm:

Plus end of the day you wont be left in a dilemma as what you can do or cant .. this way you would be trying and Maybe with a Possitive discussion and a convincing evidences … It may Change the guys life.

So Good Luck.

Re: So i am met...

i d let him live in peace.

Re: So i am met...

i agree with detox

Re: So i am met...

^^ With Due Respect to your and dtox advice .. It is a MUSLIMS duty to also preach what is RIGHT if one knws that someone is being misguided.

After telling him the two concepts between the right and wrong faith .. then He should leave him and let him live with himself.

Re: So i am met...

Yes, Agree to Fbi's posters.

Re: So i am met...

I would suggest to not say something right away. Get to know him first a bit. Have other conversations and discussions etc. I think he would get defensive if you point this out right away to him and he will run away from you.

well maybe he is a convert..maybe he has decided whats right or wrong..may be he is not a child which requires to be spoon fed.

i really doubt he would run away...trust me Africans are much more rigid then us Asians. I usually never get into contraversial discussions at work. But obviously if he would like to have a friendly conversation then obviously its not a bad idea.

Re: So i am met...

Ahmedis have tendency to present themselves as persecuted and suppressed and so on.... I think he is well aware of what his 'non-Muslim' status is in the eyes of Muslims and just playing the innocence game.

This is his choice though and there is no reason to react.

yaar why the double standard? do you go around telling your christian, hindu, or jewish co-workers how misguided they are in their beliefs.

if you are working at the same place, you'll have to face and most likely work with each other quite often. why bring bad blood in? you don't have to agree with someone's beliefs.

Re: So i am met…

Slit his “black throat” … you will go to heaven without “hisbab-o-kitab” .. Good Luck :k:

Firenze :emmy:

Just ignore the religious discussion and you’ll be fine.

Re: So i am met...

How would you feel if you were sitting with a Jewish person after having been through Israeli persecution, and you're explaining your experiences to this Jewish person, and you say, "Well they persecuted me because I was protesting abou Al-Aqsa mosque", and he goes on a tirade explaining how you have no right to that land, because it all belongs to the Jewish people as promised to them in their scriptures, and that in fact, the Israeli government was only during their religious duty to persecute you because the principles you stand behind are false?

Same thing. You may not agree with his ideas on who the last prophet really was, but you need to show empathy and let him know that it was wrong for him to be persecuted, and that Islam's message is not to persecute people for different beliefs. He's hurt enough already, you don't need to add injury at this point. I'm sure he doesn't give a F about what muslims think anymore especially after how he's been treated.

Re: So i am met...
He stated he was a persecuted individual by the rest of the Muslims.
He might need explanation and reasoning behind it . Just be a teacher for sometime and let him decide .

Re: So i am met…

:hmmm:
so he is ahmedi and dont belong to “nation of Islam”

hmmm by the looks of it…errm…nop

Re: So i am met...

yeah let him be.
We have done enough damage to them in pakistan.

Re: So i am met...

The question if he is muslim or not is redundant. He isn't by virtue of the Quran and the Holy Prophets last sermon. These two openly state that the Holy Prophet is the Seal of the Prophets. If you disbelieve both sources you aren't a Muslim by any right.

The question was how you would handle it. I find the situation interesting. I of course will do my religious duty of explaining how he is not a Muslim and let him decide.

Re: So i am met...

well this is incorrect Ahmadies do belive in Hadhrat Muhammad SAW being SEAL of Prophets...its just that you take the different meaning and they different.
