Are ski masks allowed? Can I walk into a lodge in Alps valley wearing a ski mask with a ski gear bag hanging from my back that is big enough to hold an assault rifle?
I have a Hindu friend whose from Rajhistan. Wife is an IT professional in USA, but to this day, when she goes back to India and in front of her FIL, she hangs a veil from her head down. It's a disrespect in their culture for bahu to show her face to her elder males.
Point is, if hiding face under naqab, mask, dupatta should be banned, it should be banned for everyone regardless of gender, religion, location. Doing it only for Muslim women is discrimination
That's intersting... a ski mask has a purpose aside from fashion or making a statement. Women in Africa and rural parts of India cover their faces for reasons aside from culture... they are protecting their faces from the elements.
It makes me wonder whether the same was true of the veil in Arabia... and later it was thought to be a religious requirement, when those women probably did it out of habit/neccessity.

The face veil in South Asia is more influenced by our Hindu ancestry than by our religion. We just use the Wahabbi doctrine now to really justify it but fact is that women were covering their faces before.
Even more reason to not do it. People argue against mehndi celebrations but they want to keep on the age old Hindu tradition of erasing a woman's existence from earth.

Which supports God's wisdom of using a generic term of "Khimar" in the Quranic verse that is famously used to justify the head covering. He didn't use the term "head" or "hair" just uses the term "bosoms". In another verse a term "ornaments" is used to describe what should be covered again lending to the flexibility in interpretation. He probably knee head coverings were not going to last the fashion in the 20th and 21st century.
I stopped reading when you said you've happily attended Farhan hash's classes.
No more soup for you.
LOL.....again.....two things:
I never said that.
"No more soup for you" = I can't provide a rebuttal on any of those points! Damn it!
On a side note PCG.....
Why are you so fearful of being "erased"? As long as you have something to contribute to this world, you will be valued.
And value does not come from what you wear, how you look or what others think about you.

They did it out of need. The elites of those days never wanted general public to see the face of the women of their family. That was for the protection of those women. In case of war, elite women were used as bargaining chip, or worst as a slave and concubine of the enemy rulers. If no one knows their faces, then chances of them going through the humiliation in case of a lost battle was less. It was not a requirement or need for a common woman to do that.
This hiding of face amongst elite women was not just common in arab, but also in Roman and Hindu culture

I did not go through the whole thread so could not grab your original point.
If you are saying that naqaab should be banned/demoted because it's not a requirement in Islam, then I agree. Yes its not a requirement that it's made out to be
If you are saying that it should be banned because it's a security threat, then I don't agree
There really isn’t a valid argument for banning the niqaab that isn’t fueled by (your own) bigotry and prejudice. Banning the niqaab is an extreme, oppressive measure that would only further alienate and isolate the sort of Muslims you keep griping about.
Please don’t act like you possess deep knowledge about life in Saudi Arabia or Islam.
Please go out and meet some real Muslims. Have you ever even had any niqabi friends? Or gotten to know someone who wasn’t a ‘liberal’ muslim, by your standards? Open your mind.
PCG is so right, these Saudi Wahabi Mawzlums have really taken over the world. Even Queen of Britain has gone all Islamic fundamentalist and has started wearing the Hijab. I’d so report her and deport her to one of her ex colonies.
I’d fully agree with PCG, if Queen of England cannot be bothered to wear jeans to prove her loyalty to the state, then she can just bugger off to Saudi Arabia. Desis from third world countries don’t come to Britain to see her awful dressing sense with hijab on her head. Where’s her jeans?
