India has invited Pakistan’s leader Nawaz Sharif to Narendra Modi’s inauguration as prime minister, Mr Modi’s BJP party has said.
This is thought to be the first time a Pakistani leader has been invited to such an event.
Other leaders from the South Asia Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) are also on the guest list.
But analysts say Mr Sharif’s inclusion is of special significance given tense relations between India and Pakistan.
Mr Modi, who led his BJP party to a landslide win in the recent election, will be sworn into office on 26 May.

It's good start by Modi. Nawaz Sharif should accept the invitation without declaring a public holiday in Pakistan to celebrate the invite. He should go there with dignity and grace and start a new beginning with confidence and positivity.

Modi will try to have a better relationship with Pakistan so he could act on his election agenda, that is development and economy. Nawaz Shareef should go but be prepared to do something regarding terrorism. MiyaaN saab has to offer something in return for trade deals as well.

It's very kind of Modi to invite him so Nawaz Sharif should definitely go and attend Narendra Modi's inauguration as prime minister. Both sides should work toward de-escalation of tensions and improvement of relations between India and Pakistan.
