Irem, could u elaborate on that please, just curious :)
Why do you think it's wrong?
Techniqually speaking it's only 4 (?) more inches of added kappra and u half half-sleeves.

shinoo, just my personal opinion, i dono, i honestly think it looks cheap and u look too exposed in sleeveless..i dono it doesnt look decent to my eyes.. but its a free world, what my opinion is shudnt stop anyone from doing what they wana do..

I like them and they are better than those silly bell sleeves that drag through your food and get caught in doors.
True that! Bell sleeves look nice but are annoying. I love the sleeves ur talking abt. I call em churidaar sleeves

Is there any chance of short shalwars (like the Bermuda shorts) under those sleeveless shirts?.

Ah thats the name for them. That sounds better than calling them those 'long tight scrunchy up sleeves'.

What are bell sleeves and churidaar sleeves, i didn't know they had so many names for sleeves. So confused.

CA, so it is ok to not have sleeves in front of people who might have amorous intentions because they are family because there are father and bhaijaan there? I just want to know the thought process and how does one get there....
Yes, to me it's totally fine as long as these people don't bother us...I don't think we can really control someone's thoughts...

PS.
I wasn't talking about sleeveless clothes. I don't think they're appropriate.

MY arms might not be perfect, but still I like short sleeves :snooty:

By the way, don't sleeveless shirts have to be very fitted?? you can't possibly have a loose kameez if you're wearing sleevless, can you?? in sleeveless, you're not only wearing tight clothes but also showing a lot of skin...to me, that's the reason they don't look so appropriate..

Yes FG  The Cropped pants or capris

bell sleeves r the ones that spread out at the end near the hands, thus giving the shape of a bell to the sleeve...

churidaar...the sleeves that get scrunched up at the end....like imagine if the sleeve was 3 feet long, the end of it would get scrunched up innit when u wore it coz it is much longer than ur arm...

i bought a bunch of half sleeved suits n then told em to put sleeves on em n they put sheer sleeves on :smack: so make sure u tell em u DONT want ur arms to show :stuck_out_tongue: n its normal for u to feel that way…i am paranoid like that too..i cant wear tight kapre, when i do it feels like hte whole worlds staring at me :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont like to wear short sleeves. I wear long sleeves all the time. Since I was a teenager. One of the reasons I dont like clothes shopping is because it is VERY difficult to find nice clothes with long sleeves. Especially since I live in a tropical climate year-round. Now I wear mostly what mom makes me, so much better. smile

Fraudiya bhai, I don't think there's anything wrong if girls wear such clothes at family gatherings or weddings coz at such events we are around our family and close friends so chances of people bothering, etc are very low...:) however going to office or for shopping in such clothes is different specially in Pakistan and you probably know why....
well it depends what the reasons are for not wearing them if they are just to avoid chichorays then yes, but if it is some religious deal, then a na mehrem is a na mehrem period. the list of places included formal events, shaddis and relatives houses, it did not describe either the reason for not wearing, and that if it were religious reasons, then clarifying whether the events where these will be worn would be events where one would not see na mehrems.

so in absence of specific reasons my argument stands :)

true dat

Fraudia bhai i wear a chaadar when i go to empress market in karachi or some area like that or when i go to my village...coz thats the norm there...and u feel differently according to who's around u...

same here Munni!! I have such a hard time finding nice looking clothes in long sleeves! argh!

almost all my clothes hav full sleeves… i guess even my family is so much used to see in sleeves that they get shocked when i wear half sleeves once in a while(like in blue moon :snooty: ) .. anyway.. i just cant wear 3/4 sleeves.. i think they look to weird on me … never had bell sleeves.. they do look so trendy.. but then.. they get fold up when u put ur arm up for sumthin.. n i get uncomfortable…so plain old full sleeves are fine with me thank you .. n they dont look half that bad

i specially told my tailor to make all my shirt sleeves long.. or an inch longer wont hurt … long sleeves with readymade clothes never looked appealing to me though … i guess its the fitting they hav or mayb cuts… readymade clothes hav such gaudy cuts…

And what exactly is your argument? I don't think anywhere in this thread Irem mentioned the word 'religion' or 'religious' and neither did she say what she wears is the correct dress code of Islam. Did you read too much into her posts?

clarification janaab, just seeking clarification. The reasons for not wearing those. because if it comes down to personal choice, then its a completely diff deal and the discussion would be very different than if we are discussing it from some religious angle.

If this is personal preference, and situation-location-appropriateness than its a diff point..which it appears to be.

*Did you read too much into her posts? *

Nope, there was not enough to read in her post, thus the need for clarification. sorry I had to spell it out :)

CA, cousins and family members can get away with a lot more then general public... they can oggle and say stuff to you, and no one will care.. id be more weary of what i wear infront of them

why are half sleeves indecent or cheap? please explain... anyone?
