When you shave, you're just cutting the hair off at the point that it is in its growth. It just continues on its growth pattern, maintains its thickness and health can even get thicker depending on its stage in its normal growth pattern. It seems coarser because shaving cuts it at a sharp angle. It doesnt actually make hair coarser or cause it to grow faster, it just keeps it on its normal growth pattern.
It made sense to me when she explained it. I still shave my legs, its so painful to wax! But it really is nicer after waxing.

^ sweet.f. -- waxing armpits hurts like hell and it bleeds! i did it a couple of times and now im back to my razor, thank you very much.

yes i have heard this from a couple of people too. shaving does not make the hair grow back thicker. it just "appears" that way. waxing on the other hand destroys the hair follicle and u can get all sorts of weird growth spurts.
does threading remove the hair from the root? or does it just cut on the surface?

I dont shave not because of the religious factors but because i prefer waxing, once this aunty told me that if a women shaves her janaza (dead body righ?) would get heavy and the grave wont accept her either because shaving is a men's thing - she was like waxing is fine though but its a must to remove the hair in private areas and if you prefer the whole body - and this aunty also claims that she has seen the prophet mohamman s.a.w. and some weird civilization (people) who are short in height, have hunched backs etc... at makkah and madinah especially near the Prophet Mohammad's roza i dont know what you call then perhaps the care takers of the roza (no one but the pious people can see them) another aunty who is also very religious said the same thing - but i am now confused because i read it somewhere that its fine to remove body hair but dont know if shaving is allowed or not ;S

erm.. ok. i've never heard the shaving thing before but its freaking me out! as is the story about the caretakers and the Prophet... altho that sounds almost blasphemous.
also if removing hair so wrong, what did people do in the old days? and why do we body hair in the first place? shouldnt we have evolved out of it?

I dont know i didnt say i saw them or anything so i dont care -
secondly if the second comment is for me then i never said i was against it since i go through the process of waxing my whole body every month or so - but many aunties say its wrong to shave, so i was actually asking people here no need to jump on me weirdos

Ok where do u guys go for waxing? Doesnt it get xpensive to go to a salon everymonth, for entire body waxing? esp if ur not married? Or do you just do ti at home by urself?

It costs me about $80-100 to get everything waxed - i just wax my underarms at times since all the other parts dont grow hair that quickly... the woman lives near sheridan mall in mississauga and has her own chota sa parlour and at times we used to drive to scarborough but not anymore though
