Then why do many Pakistani girls tell you not to shave your friggin’ legs? Somebody please educate them! Nowhere in any islamic book is it written that shaving is forbidden. However, removing facial hair is forbidden because it makes her appear more beautiful. I was booed once for shaving my legs by these desi girls at work. They grumbled about it for the rest of the day “Haww! you shave your legs? You know it’s haram…”
I hate hairy legs even though I never expose them. Why is it considered wrong? I just don’t get it!
Personal hygeine is imperative in Islam. Im going to search for the references to post here. But you are supposed to clean up the pubic area on a 40 day cycle, trim your nails. Think about it, why would cleaning your underarms not be allowed. I dont think allah would want us to smell rancid when we are instructed to do wazu 5 times a day!
I believe there is some saying in our culture about women not to apply the flat sharp metal to remove their hair. Im not sure where on earth that came from.
Even men are supposed to groom their beards, so for all those "i had a bomb explode in my beard that is why its all over the place' refer to the grooming advice from PBUH.
i shave my legs, though a couple of years ago a friend told me too that its haram to use a blade to remove them, not that removing the hair from my legs was haram, so i started epilating. tho she did come back and tell me she was wrong weeks later. and for the underarm hair, my mum told me years ago to start shaving those, she even tells my brothers to do it... and i agree with manomano, it is about hygeine so if we have to remove pubic hair then it would make sense to do the same for underarms, its like a breeding ground for bacteria.
I have only heard such things in Pak. You will be surprised at what you hear when there is a get together there. As far as i know there is no basis for quite a few things that Pakistanis belive true for themselves.
which i guess answered my questions about the whole shaving thing, but now i’m confused about why eyebrow plucking isnt allowed if shaving is? is this really true? and the hair colour thing, is colouring your hair with henna haram too then? Aargh!! so confused!

yaar i shave it every other day cause if i leave them it would be worst then men’s leg
so sorry dear even if it is a sin… have to do it… cause it is summer and i sometimes do wear short pants
