Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
I am glad somebody has time to pamper themselves.
No one has time for anything nowadays. Time has to be made for the pampering.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Or one can skip all this BS and just shave after taking a hot shower, when the hair is still soft, good enough to give you a smooth clean shave without taking too much time. Also "good enough" is using Nivea cream after shaving, so that you don't get razor bumps...Good luck to all others who want to consume more time in the bath room than their wives.
one can indeed, depending on choice.
one can also shave while in the shower and have the advantage of the steam and be done even quicker than shaving after shower.
the definition of 'good enough' varies by person and occasion, and whether 'good enough' is...enough

My view is simple when it comes to this, its a short life, treat yourself and others around you well, make every day enjoyable and without being wasteful do what feels good. dont deny yourselves simple pleasures.
and yes...you are good enough for the good china and cutlery... no matter how much someone says that is for the guests....screw guests...you earned it, you bought it, you should use it :)
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
@muzna' I agree - wasting water big no no. Water is increasingly a scarce resource. Use what you need conserve what you can.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
I love the old school shaving sets so much…they are sooo classy looking!
Whoever I marry, he has to shave that way…absolute must!

I think when you turn the tap off…it feels like an interruption in the process. I do that when I am doing my nightly ritual of washing/toning/all that and it drives my mom nutss!
ACV? That stuff smells so bad!
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Na karo, suffer ingrown hair… silly dung beetle! ![]()
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Ha, this is so cute. Men debating the use of a kabuki brush for shaving : Kabuki powder brush as shaving brush?
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
And turn off your faucet, folks. I felt pretty crappy when I found out keeping it running just while brushing teeth wastes ~5 gallons of water. That's sinful.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Hmm interesting. I dunno those brushes dont look like they could handle a shave. But I will save my judgement until I use them. If I ever do.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Or we will know on judgment day
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
two quick additional points related to this topic, one to further look into that some feel that this is excessive, and look I have heard it from people before, too much primping, metro, etc etc
and the other related to time, how much time and effort does it take.
Obviously it is everyone's choice. My youngest bro is opposite and has stubble most of the week. he likes it, works for him and thats just cool. My younger brother you will probably never see with stubble..even when i visit him and I am bumming in my PJs in the morning, he is up, showered, shaved, changed and sitting around waiting for me to drag my pj clad, unshowered, unshaved self to the breakfast room for some coffee :D
The thing is that the more thorough wet shave was what our grandfathers and fathers were used to doing anyways...just the way it was done, and then faster methods came around, which were not necessarily better. Convenient? yes...same results? no. close enough?..depends on who you are asking. Would we be okay with convenient things in other aspects of our lives...at some point the convenience to quality ratio just drops. lets use food for example...fresh meat and freshly ground spices etc may not be easily available or convenient, so frozen meat works, or powdered or jar spices..., go one more step for convenience and you can have shawn packets, another step below and its those patak's jars, convenient but now you start getting into territory of preservatives and additives and the flavor is just not there. For the sake of convenience if we go down to those microwavable burritos, ramen noodles and hungry man salisbury steak TV dinners...
second...time. I still say that even without busy schedules, we have plenty of time, and we spend it on other things. TV, internet, whatever..I think we all owe it to ourselves to give ourselves 10 extra minutes a day in the morning and bed time, make some time for a brief workout, make some time time to read something. In the end, aren't we worth at least that?
something to think about. what taking time and how much would vary by person of course.

this calls for those touch sensitive or motion sensitive faucets. :D
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Convenience to quality ratio drops if
1) convenience increases but quality increases more - good outcome
2) convenience goer down quality goes down less - bad outcome
3) quality stays same convenience goes down - bad outcome
4) convenience stays same quality increases - good outcome
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
^^ indeed
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Southie, indeed...i just get a little amazed that what was a ritual for my grandfather, i.e. going to the barber to have a hot lather shave with a straight razor is considered a luxury today.
I mean yeah one can slap some barbasol foam and use a bic disposable razor too..but I dunno...does not work for me, if it works for someone more power to them

Grinding Wheel and sand paper!

no guvner, superman just uses a mirror and the heat rays from his eyes to vaporize the stubble
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Yes X2!
come to think of it, Superman first uses Kryptonite sand to soften the steel brisltles…![]()
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
There shouldn't be anything metro about taking the time to do something in a way that yields the best possible results. There isn't anything metro about it.
If we can take the time out of a busy day to pamper ourselves and relax with a nice shave, whats the bad thing about that?
Anyone who thinks they dont have the time for simple luxuries like this; take the time out and try it once.
