Even though X2 is the self-proclaimed neighbourhood fraudiya, but maybe he can make a video demonstration of his elaborate ritual and post it here.

Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
are you ladies saying us men need to open up pores before shaving? :O
anyway i was kidding :P
but i dont really understand the need for a hot towel, a splash of warm water does the same thing, dun it?
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
normally go for the stubble look. But I do shave for big occasions. I normally steam my face for 10 minutes then stick on the shaving gel, and shave but i do it twice over for extra thoroughness. Stick on some CK after shave balm and viola.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
yeah.....I suppose hot water would do the same thing but the hot towel is the luxurious way, no?
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
The warm towel compress makes the hair cuticle softer too which makes shaving easier! Exfoliation is a must to get rid of all the 'dead' skin cells as well...
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Muzna, I shave exactly like your brother. I used to be the mach 3 or fusion guy but its just really tedious and dull. And he is absolutely right. Shaving can be turned into a moment of self indulgement rather than a rushed, necessary activity.
X2, thank youu! A guy here that makes a ritual out of his shaving rather than a tedious chore. I only recently ditched the mach 3s for an old school safety razor, with the whole badger hair brush with your shaving soap, I don't think I will ever look back. I may try the straight razors one day when I get the courage to.
But your entire ritual sounds very refreshing and a really good routine. I have never tried the warm towel to the face but I think I definetly will next time. I also need to get my hands on some preshave oils and some after shave moisturisers.
Shaving should always be a ritual thing but has become far too casual and more of a chore. I always look forward to my shaves now.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
I am glad somebody has time to pamper themselves.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
what I don't understand is the need to run the freakin' tap.......CONSTANTLY......while hubby is shaving......he says he needs it.....I say turn it on and off.....he says that's annoying.....really?

yes that would be annoying ontop of your annoying requests to turn the tap off.
Razor in one hand, the other hand is used to apply pressure to the skin in certain areas around the face and under chin to get a good shave. Maybe your hubby can learn to turn off the tap with his foot.
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
shaving IS exfoliation.
and warm towel vs. actual warm water on the hair - i bet the second is more effective. the right answer is, the towel stays warm longer, if you splash water, it goes cool in a couple of seconds.
tsk tsk ![]()

Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
Or one can skip all this BS and just shave after taking a hot shower, when the hair is still soft, good enough to give you a smooth clean shave without taking too much time. Also "good enough" is using Nivea cream after shaving, so that you don't get razor bumps...Good luck to all others who want to consume more time in the bath room than their wives.
Exfoliate every few days..
Warm towel on face before shave..
Preshave oil before every shave, usually Anthony logistics..
Silver tip Badger hair brush
Shaving cream, one of truefitt and hill, geo f trumpet or Taylor of old bond street. Also like Proraso shaving cream from Italy which I got hooked on during my studies there and is my fallback option in general.
For razor, a Gillette fusion, gives the best mix of speed and shave. I would use the older style safety razor, have one by merkur that is the closest shave ever with the exception of a straight razor I guess but not brave enough to try and learn that. Merkur is used when I have time.
Aftershave by Anthony logistics
SPF 15 moisturizer by Anthony
I don't dislike shaving, but do give shaving a break twice a week usually Sunday and Wednesday.
Used electric shavers which are okay, general shave gel from edge or Gillette etc which is okay. This gives me a closer shave, I enjoy the ritual and the little bit of luxury.

do women keep the tub running during the shaving ritual of their legs?
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN

hmmm......thanks, I will make that suggestion.......how long did it take you to master this technique....perhaps I can set some expectations....

perhaps someone else could answer as I'm more of a waxing kinda gal.....
Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
That depends on if they have more hair on their legs than their husbaands. ![]()

LOL.
You just dissed the resident metro who is popular with the ladies for his impeccable grooming habits. Tsk. Tsk.
Also you could skip the Nivea aftershave nakhra and just splash on some organic Apple Cider Vinegar for some 'wake-me-up' freshness.

I rather be a cave man… shaving --I hate it-- I love my trimmer ![]()

Re: Shaving. CMON MEN
I wonder how many girls here shave their mustaches instead of bleaching them...
