Re: Sha'irs and their wives.
I was listening to a mushaira on yt the other day in which I saw lots of sha'ir hazarat saying ghazals about hijr , mahboob key bewafa-e , zalim sanam and what not.
well contemporary poetry is much different with something you have described ... since the start of ' taraqee Pasand thayreek ' .. the canvas of urdu poetry has changed alot ... Prominent poets of 19th and 20th century were greatly affected by the incidents happening in their era and thus the color reflects in their publications ...
Iqbal 's poetry revolves around political and spiritual revival of Islamic civilization across the world -
Faiz yes with some romantic poetry in his start ' Akay wabsta hai us Husan k yadaiN tuje ' later on changed his style and got famous for writing revolutionary pieces of poetic art ... such as ' Muj se pheli se mohabat mere mehbob na maNg ' ... ' NesaaR tere galiyon k ay watan k jahan - chaali hai rasam k koi na sar uth kar chalay ... and his ' hum k ThaYre ajnabi ' on separation of east pakistan from west pakistan ..
Israr Ul haq me'Jaz who said' tere mehta bi jo Anchal hai us ka parcham Bana layte tu bohat acha tah '
Habib Jalib ' the rebellious soul ' with his kalam ' meiN nahii mantah ' and Poem 'Musheer ' ...
even you cant describe Poets like Ghalib as some one who only writes about Hijr , Vesaal and zalim samaJ ' - he once said
kuch na tah tu khuda tah - kuch na hota tu khuda hota
duboya muj ko hone ney - Na hota mein tu kia hota
how could you characterize a poet like him as per your definition of urdu poetry...
I mean , I could write 1000 examples quoting 1000 poets - who just not write only about Hijir and zalim samaaJ ... I wish I Had time to do that
My question is don't their wives get jealous of those imaginary or real mahboob and give a beating to their husband ?
Most of uber romantic poets have stayed unmarried or had bad marriages so yes if they get married - I say , surely their wives dont enjoy letting them write pages upon pages in praise of other women ..
or may those who had good married life - have had wives with Parveen Shakir 's philosophy
wo kahIn be gaya LoaaT tu mere pass aya
bas yeahii baat hai achi merey Harja'ee ki
And why people who listen to this shairee get so impressed if it is all virtual how can someone relate to someone else's imagination ?
why dont you use your imagination skills and say something ....
Shair bi AyaTooN se kia kaam haiN
hum na mana wahee Utar'te nahii
or as chacha once said
Atay haiN gaib se yea Mazameen khayal mein
Ghalib saareer khama Nawa'ay Sarosh hai
Bhai Jaan- you dont know the pain of creative agony and for us who go through that - atleast we deserve some praise in return
Raang haR raaNg mein hai Daad taalab
khooN thukoN tu Waah waah ke'jeay
No Urdu Sha'ir can live on the income they get out of their shaeeree now a days.
This statement was may be true few decades ago - but now as urdu has turned into a universal language and Urdu Mushaeray happen all over the world... where ever urdu daan and urdu loving people live - so a full time renowned poet makes good amount of money thesedays
