Yes I know what happened is extremely wrong…but I think we must back him if we are pro Pakistani. Whatever shame he’s brought to the country, I think he is the only one who can bring back some of the much needed glory, pride and energy to the team.
He is the only one who can lead Pakistan in all 3 formats…I’d rather have him over the pathetic display which the team showed under Yousuf. It happened in the heat of the moment…i guess you can say sometimes the pathan in him comes out…no offense to any pathans.

He did something wrong, he got banned for a couple games, and thats it, end of story. Look at WHY he did it. Im tired of having losers, gutless, and drama queen captains like Malik, Yousuf and Younus. Its not the end of the world…yeah it was a shame to Pakistan what he did and it doesnt matter why he did it…but at the end of day he is by far the best man to lead Pakistan and he should be given a fair run. If we can stand retarded, below club level cricket type of captaincy by Yousuf for a full test and ODI series, then im sure we can stand by Afridi at this time as well.

I don't endorse what he did and in my opinion he should have got a much more severe punishment. But the fact is that he has openly admitted doing tampering saying that he was desperate to win for Pakistan. He has been punished and we have to move on.
No one is perfect in our society but we still give second, third, fourth... countless chances to everyone. So why not Afridi????
If we have to punish Afridi by not giving him captaincy then lets be fair and see how many times we have awarded others while they were committing mistakes after mistakes or involved in corruption?
What about all the selfish captains from the past all the way till Yousuf who all promoted nepotism/favoritism and discouraged selection on merit?
The fact is all those who enjoyed authority have been involved in wrongdoings and we all unconsciously or consciously accepted them because sometimes we had no choice or sometimes the mertis outweigh drawbacks.
You may not agree with me right now. Most of us including me are upset on his actions but the fact is in the current circumstances and with the options we have, Afridi is the only choice we have. With all his limitations I saw our team played with unity under him for the first time on this tour.

Fine, because of him you might say that the whole world will call us cheats. The whole world doesn't think much of us as a country, let alone of our cricket team. So who cares.
On the side note, I sure hope so that he doesn't repeat his mistake again but I do admire his spirit of winning the game by hook or by crook. That goes to show you that how much he wanted our team to win. I admire his dedication and his commitment to win the match. At least he DID something to win the match. What did M. Yousuf did to win matches ? Lousy placement of fielding ? Shi**y Captaincy ?
At least Afridi showed that he has the lust to see his country win. It takes balls, courage and immense effort to unit your team and lift the spirit of its team mates to try to win the last match, even though the series was already 4-0. When was the last time you saw a Captain with that kind of energy in the field and the ability to unite the players ?
So yes, he has my full support. We all make mistakes, no one is perfect and no one ever will be. What he did is in the past, he is the only hope for Pakistan. I hope he learns from his mistakes and moves on. Mark my words, he will change our team all-around in near future. He is the ONLY person after Imran Khan who has the courage, balls and the charisma to change things in our cricket team.
Afridi didn't tamper the ball for his own interest, he did just so that our team could win the last match. He could have cared less as it was the last match, but he so much wanted to win this last match, that he did what he did, against his better judgment.

I agree with Yasir and Salman. he did something which was unacceptable and has been banned for it. Lets move on from here. he turned a bunch of loser into a fighting unit yesterday and has my full support as captain for all three formats of the game.
It is not as if this has happened for the first time the Englsih team was embroiled in it just a few weeks back, many past captains of various teams have been involved and caught.

I agree with you guys. His action was not appropriate on Int'l level and this is true, he goes into that gali mohalla cricket mode when the things are not going in Pak's way. Miandad had the same mentality (minus ball tempering) to win at any cost. This is spirit is required to win with lion's heart, not like sheep as we have experienced in last couple of months.
He got banned and I hope he will learn from his mistake and will never repeat it. But we do need him as captain, we need a fighter right at the top.

A bunch of cricket desperados willing to forgive a criminal just so that they can watch their favorite sport/team , we can agree to disagree. Whether other teams punished their sportsman or not, why do we have to lose our morals? We as a nation are already suffering from low morals, lawlessness, why do we want to tolerate crime watched by millions around the world? At one hand we want justice in our country to prevail but when it comes to our ‘favorites’ we want to by-pass the justice. May Allah swt guide us all to the right direction. We can let him be a member in the team after going thru punishment but why do want to make such a person ‘captain’??
