These lotays without panday, talk big. When they were in power during Mush regime, all actions of his were approved by them. None had enough morals and courage to say something against him.
DAWN.COM | National | Chattha wants unconditional military aid from US
ISLAMABAD, Oct 17: The controversy over the Kerry-Lugar act would die down if the government is able to persuade the United States to make military assistance to Pakistan unconditional.
This was proposed by chief of a faction of Pakistan Muslim League Hamid Nasir Chattha at a press conference here on Saturday. Military assistance is yet to be negotiated.
He said the government should press the US administration to introduce a fresh bill in this regard.
Khursheed Ahmed Kasuri, who was with Mr Chattha, blamed the Indian lobby for conditions imposed under the Kerry-Lugar act, and said it was initiated when PML-Q was in power. “Then it was known as Kerry-Biden bill and was without any conditions.”
President of the group Salim Saifullah Khan, secretary-general Humayun Akhtar and Kashmala Tariq were present. They said conditions on military aid would be unacceptable to them.
Rejecting the government’s contention that the explanatory note appended to the bill had changed everything, they said the spokesman for Senator John Kerry and the US Ambassador to India were on record as saying that the conditions were still there and nothing had changed.
They said they supported the military operation in South Waziristan, which was necessary to eliminate terrorism, and urged the government to make foolproof arrangements to protect lives and property of internally displaced people.
Blaming the Chaudhrys of Gujrat for introducing the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), they made it clear that their faction would “never support it”.
Mr Chattha said that before the national elections, a meeting was held at the Army House under then president Pervez Musharraf, which was attended by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
The meeting, he said, considered the three demands presented by the PPP, including repeal of Article 58(2)b, withdrawal of cases and end of conditions barring people from contesting the post of prime minister for a third term. He said Musharraf had accepted conditions other than the repeal of Article 58(2)b.
“We don’t believe in corruption and will never support it.” According to him, all corruption cases should be presented before the judiciary.
Salim Saifullah announced the nomination of Begum Mehnaz Rafi and Prince Nawaz Elahi as vice-presidents and Senator Gulshan Saeed as member of the party’s central executive committee.
