Serious Question

Re: Serious Question

the reason swine meat prohibited was due to some diseases not because
it is some kind of sin or morally wrong to eat pork.

Re: Serious Question

Although there are certain parts in Matsui’s post are correct like “God is not a attention seeking child”…however, the rest of the stuff is against Islam and if you think that his logic makes sense to you…go ahead and for sake Allah and see if you can ever become like the swine eaters(happy and prosperous).

I suggested some ayath’s to you which explains what hikmat is and what is its essence…either you did not bother reading my post or just did not dig up those ayath…In any case, to each his own. Happy swine eating.

Re: Serious Question

First of all, not many of us are doing close to what we should be as practicing muslims. The tsunami was a test from Allah, to see what Muslims around the world would do in response to this tragedy. It was a "wake up call" for all of us and we should learn from it before it's too late. We shouldn't really be worried about all the muslims that were killed in the tsunami, as they are all "Shaheed" and in heaven as we speak insha'allah.

Getting back to your other point, why should we Muslims expect anything from Allah when we don't do anything for him. Nonmuslims (or swine eaters as you call them) although most Jews and Hindus are probably in the same boat, and don't eat swine. But I digress; Nonmuslims are not accountable for their sins on this earth and their punishment will be in the hereafter. We should consider ourselves lucky if our punishment starts in this world, as Allah loves us and is giving us a "so called" head start on our punishment which means it will be reduced in the hereafter.

As for "does Allah forgive us?", of course he does. If Allah didn't forgive us, then why would we still see happiness in our lives in it's various forms even though we miss so many prayers, look down on other, and don't give zakat. Allah is all forgiving and we should always be asking for forgiveness.

In the grand scheme of things, ours is not the only world in the universe and probably just a small part in Allah's kingdom. As the Quran says : Alhamdu lillah hi "rabil aalameen" (God of ALL worlds).

May Allah forgive me if I said something wrong. Allah knows best.

Re: Serious Question

Game, You don;t have to leave Islam to be happy and prosperous. The myopia Kaleem displayed is endemic to the 1/6th of humanity that I was referring to. That 1/6th also includes jews who think that wearing a yamulkeh and shaking your finger at other jews will please god. It also includes those hindus, who think that Bhagwan only feels for those who don;t eat meat and those christians who think that everyone else but them is going to hell, so they become exclusionary and carry a chip on their shoulder.

If you belive in Allah, which I think you do, do you honestly think he would punish people simply because they didn't follow his supposed mandates. That is a human attribute, if I ever saw one. People in Indonesia die because of geography, people in WTC die because of some ill interpreted religious doctrine. Who do you think is going to heaven or hell, if Allah is evaluating these scenarios. Think about it.

Re: Serious Question

Kaleem bhai, Pinstripe seriously makes sense. You couldn’t even reply to my question of why a kaafir would not go to Heaven even if he has helped blind ladies cross the street all his life? Doesn’t Allah want all humans to be moral? Then why are kaafirs excluded from the Jannati list even if all their acts are according to Allah’s wishes? Thanks again Pinstripe Danda.

Re: Serious Question

Your reply suggests that you have already ran out of Gasoline

Re: Serious Question

Game, like I said, if matusi’s reply makes sense to you than go ahead and accpet his logic. As far as your query regarding a “kaffir” helping the blind people. Allah will reward him/her in this world, not in the afterlife. Just because you asked this question and did not know the answer shows me that you really dont know much about Islam (no offense). Secondly, not accepting Allah or accepting partners with him (shirk) is one of the sins that Allah will NOT forgive, hence, the person may be excluded from Jannah..having said that Allah is the final judge and he may allow the person to enetr Jannah. PA tried to tell you the same thing that most of the westerners nations are close to Islamic fundamentals (honesty, truth, charity etc) and they duly get rewarded from ALLAH for their deeds.
If you believe that ALLAH does not care if you committ shirk or he does not care if you say your prayers…boy, may ALLAH guide you to the correct path.

P.S. Did you bother to read up those ayaths I mentioned?

Re: Serious Question

Matsui, well put but bad analogy. Who here said that people who parished in tsunami were punished? I certainly did not say that. It is true that people who died in WTC lost their lives because of ull-interpreted religious doctrine, but what about the innocnet people who lost their lives to ill-advised, over zealous President? Who do you think is responsible for that? You think there will be any retribution?

Re: Serious Question

Kaleem, i would advise you to read this thread from the top. There is assertion as to why the indonesians were singled out and whether it is a punishment or act of god. If it is an act of god, then I am sorry Killing people for fun is not what god is about, you might have a different interpretation of god and I leave that for your conscience.

The Game further tried to ponder whether swine eaters, (to which some luminary suggested anyone but muslims) are indeed the chosen ones because they seem to be generally happy and prosperous, whereas the muslims are experiencing the converse.

To which, I tried to delineate the restrictive and exclusionary basis of certain thinking and how that is the bane of humanity's existence. I further went to include members of other religious groups who sympathize with this illfounded and highly illogical superiority complex. What resulted is a rather simple explanation for God, Tsunami, Muslims and Eating Swine.

SOmetimes it is that simple and linear, sometimes it is lateral connectivity of thoughts and othertimes there is complex linearity laced with circular logic which unfortunately confounds the 1/6th of humanity that I mentioned, perversely and deeply.

Re: Serious Question

So a kid is born. His family is is Jewish. He performs his faith with utmost commitment and never harms a soul. He donates to charity and helps the blind. Overall, he is the kindest person you will ever meet. But he will go to hell just because he wasn’t born in a Muslim family? Is that what you are telling me? And if you are, how is it his fault that he was born in a Jewish family?
Stop accusing Matsui and his logic, because atleast Matsui is presenting one! While my Muslim brother is telling me to join the kaafirs and go to hell. That’s what most Muslims do in response to such questioning, and that’s why I stated that Islam is a religion of strict obedience and zero questioning.

Re: Serious Question

If 99% of all religious adherents are born into a religion, and if God is the creator, then he himself has played a vicious game for who is going to hell and who is not. He can't be this sadistic can he? That even a person like mother teresa who helped the children in the slums of calcutta, believing in some divine purpose, would go to hell in the same manner as some muslim who blew up some kids in a piza parlor. (I am sure you disagree about his destination post mortem)

Re: Serious Question

The typical answer to that is “Allah ki hikmat hai” or “You are a freakin’ kaafir, you are going to hell”. I never get a straight answer from any of my Muslim brothers or sisters to that same question.

Re: Serious Question

You haven't gotten "consider yourself lucky"..."..now sit back and wait for heaven"?

Re: Serious Question

Numerously. But I always think how unfair that would be to other religions if that really was the case. If someone comes and tells me to convert into a Jewish person, I would not be able to do that. By the same token, if someone tells a Jewish person to accept the Muslim faith when all his life he has practiced the Jewish faith with commitment, how hard would it be for him? This narrow mindedness of the Muslims just kills me sometimes.

Re: Serious Question

Game, I am not telling you any such thing. I asked you to read up Quran…Did you do that? You seem to shy away from that question..Why is that? Anyway, lets look at the example you gave. If that jew never heard about Islam (which will be hard to do in today’s age) and he practised his jewish religion according to what Moses taught them. He will be judged according to those rules. Again, its pretty simple and you seem to be missing the basic Islamic teachings…which is becoming quite evident.
Plus, I did not ask you to join the Kaffirs, I used that to make you open the Quran and see for yourself. Now do yourself a favor and read up the ayath’s I quoted for you. It will explain the hikmat to you. If you dont know how to get hold of online Quran, just say so, I will put the ayaths here with translation.

The sad part in all of this discussion is that you are not even trying to find the truth yourself by looking in the best source available to you.

Re: Serious Question

^ it is not narrow mindedness of muslims alone. It is the same narrow mindedness of some hindus, some jews, christians..you name.

You are born into a religion, so choice from day one is gone. If one particular religion was the panacea, then there would be many takers, much more than the adherents of the world's religions today...remember they have had thousands of years to perfect dogma...but yet it still isn't. As disenfranchized the world is when it comes to faith, makes the whole concept of one true path quite illogical for me.

If a muslim guy is the same as a jew and he as a hindu and christian and buddhist and sikh..etc..when it comes to families, education, treatment of others, then it means that these are universal values not product of one faith.

It seems logical that God can instill the same values in all people, through his many messages or built in genetical inheritances, but highly illogical that he will treat one different from another if they act the same way. Sounds stupid actually.

Re: Serious Question

And did you read all my posts? Wouldn’t it be hard for a Jewish person to convert to Islam if he has practiced it all his life? I’m sure you wouldn’t want a 6 year old baby to accept Islam. Any person in the world would understand religion only when he gets a bit older, and by then his faith has been instilled so much that he would not want to convert to anything else. Don’t you think so? Would you convert to Judaism if some Rabbi logically explains why Jewish people are going to heaven? Really. I want to discuss it here because if I look up the Quran, I would not understand half of what is said. I’m looking for layman terms here, but instead my Muslim brothers and sisters tell me to look up the Holy book or otherwise go to hell.

Re: Serious Question

I wil reply to your message in detail once I get home. I will tell you this much, it is the job of each and everyone of us Muslims to represent Islam in such a manner that it attracts people to it. Conversion is not based on logical explaination only, there are many other factors that go into it. Muslims usually do not do dawa based on heaven and hell....that is the christian mantra "If you want to be saved accept Jesus as your savior". I dont know which tableghi or dawa people you have met, but, that is not the way dawa is done.

Re: Serious Question

Please do let me know what other factors are involved in conversion. I’m waiting eagerly for your reply.
