Indonesia recently got hit by both the tsunami and an earthquake in quick succession, as far as I remember. What would be the “maslehat” of Allah’s wrath on this poor country in succession in such little time? In short, can anyone please convince me that Allah is forgiving? I see people eating pigs and drinking wine living in mansions, and I see poor Muslims getting hit by tsnumai waves and earthquakes. Really. Thank You.

Allah:swt: says in Quran:
![]()
153.** O ye who believe! Seek help in steadfastness and prayer. Lo! Allah is with the steadfast. **
-
And call not those who are slain in the way of Allah “dead.” Nay, they are living, only ye perceive not.
-
**And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops; but give glad tidings to the steadfast, **
-
**Who say, when a misfortune striketh them: Lo! we are Allah’s and lo! unto Him we are returning. **
-
Such are they on whom are blessings from their Lord, and mercy. Such **are the rightly guided. **
{Al Baqarah:2}
20:131 Nor strain thine eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them, the splendour of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of thy Lord is better and more enduring.
{Surah Ta Ha}
**“Know that your wealth and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a mighty reward.”
**Sûrah al-Anfâl: 28]
“And as for man, whenever his Lord tries him by honoring him and makes him lead an easy life, he says: ‘My Lord honors me’. But when He tries him by straitening his means of subsistence, he says:** ‘My Lord has disgraced me’.”**
Sûrah al-Fajr: 15-16]
“It is He who created death and life that He may try you as to which of you is best in deeds.”
Sûrah al-Mulk: 2]
And this is to compare, really…
2: 214 "Do you think that you will enter paradise without undergoing such trials as were experienced by the believers before you? They met with adversity and affliction and were so shaken by trials that the Prophet of the time and his followers cried out “When will Allah’s help come?” Then they were comforted with the good tidings, “Yes, Allah’s help is near.”
{Al Baqarah:2}
3:186 **Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves; and ye shall certainly Hear much that will grieve you, from those who received the Book before you and from those who worship many gods. But if ye persevere patiently, and guard against evil,-then that will be a determining factor in all affairs. **
{Aal-e-Imran:3}
Re: Serious Question
*So swine eating and wine drinking people are exempted from tests in this world? *
Re: Serious Question
Rasoolulah:saw: said and it is a very ma’aroof hadeeth wa hova as Saadiq wa al Masdooq:
Ad Duniya Jannat Al Kaafir wa sijn al Mo’min
(This world is made paradise for a non-believer and a jail for a believer)
A very good example that striked me was that if you are in a class, your teacher will only take your tests, not of a person selling candies outside of your school.
Re: Serious Question
^
very bad example brother....
Allah tests everyone....
He tests someone with poverty (testing their patience) and He tests someone with their wealth (testing their generosity and will to spend for Allah)....
He tests everyone....
non-believers r not exempted from the tests....
they too sit in the same class, just not paying attention to what the teacher is saying....
Re: Serious Question
hmmm .. may be u are right.. the example striked me from a sermon of Maulana Tariq Jameel. Though I do believe that He tests someone with poverty (testing their patience) and He tests someone with their wealth (testing their generosity and will to spend for Allah)
What about the references in Quran about: Habitat aa’malohum fid duniYa wal aakhira
?
Re: Serious Question
I don’t see them being tested. Majority of the swine eaters are wealthy and living a happy prosperous life. Majority of the Muslims on the other hand are living miserably. And please don’t give me “This is all a test, money is not important” etc. I am a human being and I am materialistic.
Re: Serious Question
well, according to the hadeeth mentioned above, unfortunately (or fortunately) that exactly is the case. Quran clearly tells that:
![]()
18:46 Wealth and sons are allurements of the life of this world:** But** the things that endure, good deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as rewards, and best as (the foundation for) hopes. ](http://islamicity.com/mosque/quran/18.htm#46)
Re: Serious Question
Isnt that a test in itself for them? They have all that they desire, they could pass the test by using it wisely. Instead they choose to fail the test by plundering the resources Allah provides them ?
Some muslims have a lot of resources, others dont. In each is a test for them.
This verse had an amazing affect on me. It seemed to speak out straight to me. Subhanallah , Allah is great.
Re: Serious Question
So you are telling me that Allah forbids human beings from living a prosperous life? Should we all move into jhonpris, you are saying?
Re: Serious Question
I think this example given by Anwar bhai answers the question. Don't you think?
Ad Duniya Jannat Al Kaafir wa sijn al Mo'min
(This world is made paradise for a non-believer and a jail for a believer)
Re: Serious Question
Allah never forbids you from living a prosperous life. Allah forbids you to waste your money.
No one is stopping you from living a good comfortable life, just dont forget the needy and ensure that you give in charity from what Allah has given you.
Otherwise your money will speak against you on the day of judgement and well, we all know what happens then.
Tthose who do have money and they spend from it in ALlah's way are promised an awesome reward. Those who are greedy and waste it away, who turn away the poor and needy and think only of themselves, and not of Allah's makhlook, are promised punishment.
Allah knows best.
Re: Serious Question
just a few of those swine eaters are perhaps more charitable than ALL the muslims on this earth combined.... u can't beat those swine eaters in charity.. i'll tell you.
In my neighborhood, i have a mosque and a church almost back to back with each other.. the charitable activities that go on in the church (and they are wholly inclusive.. any and all are welcome to attend) overshadow anything of any consequence that ever happened in the mosque.. which is kinda never.
So coming back to the topic.. if the swine eaters are also charitable, is it the reason Allah keeps 'testing' them with the goodies cuz they score well in that test and tests the Muslims with the miseries?
Re: Serious Question
whatever god you pray to geology cant be changed . earquakes cant be avoided
by not eating pork or eating pork.
Re: Serious Question
Once Hazrat Musa :as: was sitting down on a rock scribbling in the sand with a stick…He asked Allah :swt:, how does it seem to you to wipe out entire nations with one command? Don’t you feel sad?
Allah :swt: replied: Musa, wipe out the lines that you have drawn in the sand…
Hazrat Musa :as: did so, and Allah :swt: asked Musa :as: if he felt any sadness or remorse over wiping away those lines…
Hazrat Musa :as: replied in the negative, so Allah (swt) said, well, just like that I don’t feel anything either…
Problem is, as humans, we can only see what’s ahead of us…We lay great emphasis upon our lives and living, not realizing we have to die one day, like everyone…For a Muslim, death is not the end…For those that died in the tsunami we say how can that happen, how can He be so cruel…Laholawalaquata…Allah (swt) is not cruel…Who knows as a result of this mishap how many Muslims must now be forgiven their sins because they died in an accident…
Allah (swt) sees all dimensions and planes of existence, so He has little trouble moving humans from one plane to another…It is us that scream and shout thinking woe is me and this and that…
As Sartre said, the only happy man in this world is a man who is dead…![]()
Re: Serious Question
lajo, tell me - if death isnt such an issue why are muslims enraged when non muslims kill them?
Re: Serious Question
.
Re: Serious Question
In the end, its just all talk. The same logic about ignorance of humans, that is used to prove that humans know nothing hence they cry and scream, is used to prove that god is all-knowing, probably those who died went to heaven and the like.
Re: Serious Question
The Quran states that persecution is worse than slaughter…And slaughter is murder, whether it’s in the name of freedom, liberty or democracy…
Peace is the number one priority for a Muslim, and if mischief is spread in the land whether by a rapist or murderer, then the punishment for it is death…
We were born, but living in peace and tranquility is first and foremost for every Muslim…If someone threatens that peace then that peace threatener must be fought by every Muslim and be made an example, so that no one threatens that peace anymore…
The concept of laying down and waiting for one’s death by the hands of a murderer is not present in Islam…You fight until peace reigns once more…
The making up of excuses for war are western innovations…Islam believes in Jihad as the last option…
More later…GTG…
Re: Serious Question
is earthquake a punishment?
YUSUFALI: But they rejected him: Then the mighty Blast seized them, and they lay prostrate in their homes by the morning.
PICKTHAL: But they denied him, and the dreadful earthquake took them, and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling place.
SHAKIR: But they rejected him, so a severe earthquake overtook them, and they became motionless bodies in their abode.
