Jheenga is makrooh-e-Tehreemi in Hanafi fiqh, not haraam, which means if you get a feeling of disgust only then it becomes haraam for you otherwise not.
I read up on lobsters and Crabs and found out that according to hanafi fiqh, they are not considered edible. Before that I was following a different ruling according to which all sea animals are OK... But Imam Abu Hanifa makes disctinctions in the light of several traditions and I find the reasoning reasonable ...I am going to avoid them from now on as well.
PS: I do not have problem with jheenga though.
PS 34: In following a school of thought, I follow the hadith - a simple rule of thumb - which states that follow things which your heart is satisfied about and leave which, it is not.

ahaa!! :) Now we're getting somewhere...

Very true. Same here. Moi heart is satisfied with lobsters, crabs and jheengas though .... Bale Bale ..

Can you please share how the distinction is made between diff creatures i.e. between shrimp, crabs, lobster, squid, octupus, crawfish etc etc.

according to traditions, any creature to be considered as fish, should have a shape like a common fish we eat normally. If the shape is different, then avoid it.. Some of the hanafi scholars also agree with the decree of Fiqha-e-Jafriya in which any fish that does not have scales must not be consumed...
This is what I looked up and found. This is from Albalagh.net which is an authentic Hanafi website.
According to the Hanbaliy and Shafi'ee scholars, all living creatures that live in the sea are halal, whether they are in the form of a fish or not. (Fiqh alal Madhaahib al-Arbaa). Based on this, oyster, oyster extract, shrimp, lobster and shark are all halal and permissible.
According to the Maliki scholars, every living creature of the sea is halal except eel. (Ibid) Hence, oyster, oyster extract, shrimp, lobster and shark are halal and permissible.
According to the Hanafi scholars, the only living creatures of the sea that are permissible are those that are in the form of a fish with an exception of the hagfish and eel. (Ibid). (these 2 even though they are not in the form of a fish they will be permissible to consume).
Hence, according to the Hanafi scholars, it will not be permissible to eat oyster, oyster extract, shrimp and lobsters. It will be permissible to consume shark as it is in the form of a fish.

Bro, what I would really like to see is for once someone present what evidence jurists from all five schools of thought used. We have their opinions however their opinions should derive from Quran and authentic Sunnah. No one seems to be able to present that. Peoples opinions cannot make things haram or halal or even mukrooh as mukrooh becomes a matter of perception and personal like and dislike but not a commandment.
Dost, I also like to see that but that will a huge thread. That information is avaliable in published form and any Mufti form each school of thought can help us undertsand the reasoning behind the ruling. We just need to sit with them on individual basis.
You said “all five shool of thoughts”. I am assuming that you are mentioning Fiqh’ Jafferia. I like to see their ruling on this, too

I eat prawns but after reading that they are makruh in fiqh hanafia I'm feeling disgust towards prawns.
They are only makruh and not haram in fiqh hanafia, right?
So your disgust is based on peoples opinions not your own heart. Someone said your should feel disgust so now you have decided to feel disgusted otherwise you did not before. That is not disgust but blindly following.
