I eat prawns but after reading that they are makruh in fiqh hanafia I'm feeling disgust towards prawns.
They are only makruh and not haram in fiqh hanafia, right?
According to some Hanafi scholars they are haram such as Imam Rashid Ahmed Gangohi.
Others say they are makrooh e tahreemi.
Maybe she wants to follow the experts of the filed and not her own desires and whims.
So experts get to control our emotions now .... Br. Baba kiya ho gaya aap ko. I can understand regulating our actions but not our emotions.
This hadith should be intersting for you:
Bukhari
Book 021, Number 4783:
Ibn 'Umar reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was asked about the eating of (the flesh) of the lizard, whereupon he said: I am neither the eater of it nor its prohibitor.
This hadith is an example of what I am saying. The Prophet SAW did not eat because he was either disgusted or his heart did not like it but did not make it haram. Or people do not need to feel disgusted because the Prophet SAW did. Not being content in ones heart is different from being a haram action.
Hareem behna, stated she used to eat prawns and obviously she never felt disgusted with it. Now she claims to be disgusted after reading hanafi POV. Her choice or words is not right. If she states that she probably will abstain from it, I can understand that and respect her opnion or choice. However your stating you changed your emotions based on scholarly opinions is ridiculous.
We can eat rabbit however I just do not feel like eating it. I have tried it before and it just didn't appeal to me. However my personal dislike for it did not make it haram. If I was a scholar who had expressed I dislike it then someone who does like it does not have to change and start disliking it for that reason. If is was a haram action then I can understand abstaining from it after reading some convincing evidence.
^^
She said disgusted because she was not aware that its not allowed in the Hanafi madhab.
As far as lizard, its also haram in Hanafi Madhab.
Lizard (The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) forbade the eating of a Lizard. Recorded by Imam Abu Dawud in his Sunan from Abd al-Rahman ibn Shibl (Allah be pleased with him). Hadith no: 3790)
Also there is a rule in Hanafi fiqh that.
Also scholarly opinions are based on the Quran and Sunnah. If you go back I have posted a hadees regarding this.
Those land-animals who have blood in them but the blood does not flow, in other words animals that do not have flowing blood, are also considered Haram, such as a snake, lizard, chameleon, etc.
So the hadees you have quoted, is abrogated by this one.

You missed my whole point. Disgust is a feeling not action. To abstain from something is the action. Anyway, its pointless arguing with you Sir. I was not arguing about the hadith being abrogated or not.

I think that this is the philosophy of Hanafi Maslak that if it is Makrooh, treat it like Haraam. Its "better safe than sorry" type of thing
Some Hanafi scholars also say that Prawn is not from fish family, its from insects family and eating insects is not halal, so the prawn should be haraam.
Personaly, I used to eat prawn/Shrimp. I dont do that anymore. My philosophy is that I am not going to die if I don not eat it, so why to take risk and play "Russian roulette" with Shariah
Brother USResident, I used to dislike prawns but then I started eating them but now again after reading that that they are makruh or(may be haram according to khanbabax ref) I have this feeling of disgust, I don't know if I will avoid cooking or eating them next time. I'll talk to my hubby.
Brother Khanbabax, JazakAllah, please find(if you can)the saying of Imam Abu Hanifah for me about this issue, that will be more satisfactory.
JazakAllah tariqlkhan and ramyssysIX, I've already read these Q&A on Sunnipath.
