What time does the episode air on geo? What episode are they upto? I am thinking of watching this drama online? What other awesome drama do they have on air these days? Is uraan as good doraha, mzzb or QeT?
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
'Jal pari' timing: Every Thursday 8:35 pm (I think more than 10 episodes aired)
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
I love the OST of this drama!! love the lyrics..... I think this is the only tv show worth watching these days, aside from dareecha :)
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
Loving this play!!! For me it's parallel cinema, an offbeat story about a young beautiful girl and her relationships with people around her. There's a love-hate feeling towards her gray character.
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
Munniya and Chaand Bhai will finally attempt to rid themselves of their demons.... a very fitting, albeit morbid end.
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
kiya hai yai drama???
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
Its frustrating that this drama is not eliciting more discussion which is basically what dramas like these are meant to do. Its frustrating when a simplistic drama like Humsafar draws pages upon pages of comments about something that has zero complexity or depth. Guess its indicative of our mindset as a society.

I got a chance to watch last episode. dialogues and acting of the drama are quite good, but I found Mehjabeen’s crying scenes some what OTT. I know the situation did support crying, but it was done excessively IMO.

I agree. The Humsafar thread has become just a fun read now. What happens in the thread is perhaps also indicative of mindsets of Pakistani women in general. They want to keep the chit chat light hearted and avoid discussing the real issues that the drama could and should provoke. The Humsafar thread is unique in the sense that you probably have more women reading it then any other thread at the moment. Popular dramas bring the women together on the same platform, which is otherwise difficult. It could have been a great opportunity for the women to actually discuss the problems of a married woman (i.e Khirad) in the wider context. But as always I find most Pakistani women tend to avoid getting into any kind of philosophical discussions and prefer the light hearted banter. Not that there is anything wrong with it occasionally , but when the women seize to take part in serious discussion, the consequences of that then become apparent in our society in the long term.
It may sound idealistic, but I do believe that women can perhaps change the general mindset of a society if they tried. It is proven that children learn first and foremost from their mothers. if the mothers won't teach their kids how to be reflective, philosophical or how to discuss social issues and how to address them, then who will?
As far as Jal Pari is concerned, I'm loving the story, ( watched 13 episodes so far). The best drama on at the moment. Sarmad needs to work more with good writers like S. Sehbai. I'm hugely impressed with Neelam Munir. She plays the grey shades of her character effortlessly.
Re: Sarmad Sultan’s new drama ‘Jal Pari’
I’ve seen up to yesterdays episode, WOW I’m impressed with this drama. It’s so different from other on air right now and the thing which I love the most is how beautifully the characters have been crafted. Neelam Munir is impressive :k: I find it surprising that such a good drama is not getting that much attention though …
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
muniya doesnt have a demon inside of her
chaand bhai does..hes totally wierd
but next episode looks exciting
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
this is one powerful serial, dark but slick...all credit to sarmad sehbai for writing a brilliant script. But this drama should not be compared to Humsafar, two entirely different subjects and literary genres, despite having the same director, which goes to show sarmad khoosat's brilliant versatility...i guess the popularity of Humsafar goes to show that people are dying to watch well written, well directed romantic plays, something we used to excel at in the 80s and 90s!!
so many plays on screen about social taboos and issue based content that 'jal pari' was a breath of fresh air because its done differently where the victim is also the instigator.
What is jal pari about? I haven't watched this drama. As far as neelam muniz is concerned definitely very talented. I think acting is in the blood of most pakistani girls. It comes naturally to a lot of them and nowadays there is a lot of talent pol to choose from unlike the 80s and 90s. A lot of educated and middle class people are choosing acting as a profession. Does it pay well I wonder? What do actresses and actors get paid these day?

I wasn't comparing the two dramas at all. They are clearly poles apart in their content and treatment. I was only commenting on the missed opportunity of us as viewers in discussing these dramas a little deeper.
Re: Sarmad Sultan’s new drama ‘Jal Pari’
It’s not often I like the endings of dramas but with Jal Pari I think the ending was spot on and it is after ages we see such a perfect ending. ![]()
The acting of Adnan siddique and neelam really did excel; loved the scene where shaista tells him to only say what he truly feels and he says " i love you. " It was such a powerful episode , had me crying. Hats off to sarmad for the amazing direction ![]()
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
^ I agree! Fantastic last episode, can't believe this was wrapped up in 17 episodes without any dragging melodrama or abrupt endings....everything tied up so nicely and actually made sense. Brilliant performances by neelam, tipu and adnan siddiqui, he has really acted well after a long time. Hope to see more scripts by Sarmad Sehbai on screen, need a break from the afsana writers for a bit.
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
I can't believe Jal Pari is over :'( :'( :'( but I am very thankful to the production team for not dragging this drama beyond it's expiration date. I am actually very pleasantly surprised at the ending, I was expecting sir rashid to die and shaista to have a really sad ending. That's usually what you expect from dark/ realistic tv shows in Pakistan. I guess most playwrights find it difficult to draw the line between dark and depressing and tend to go over board.
Chand Bhai's scenes today showed a lot of raw emotions. He spent his whole life escaping the reality of his existence only to realize( with the birth of his niece), that his sister had become the very thing he was escaping from. In fact him leading a "shareef" life had contributed to his sister becoming a prostitute. Shaista's "thupur" (which he rightfully deserved) further made him realize the sad truth that he can never escape his past and culminated in the form of khala's murder. Morose but very fitting. I think Chaad Bhai was probably one of the more complex characters of this story.
I liked the way things ended with Shaista. She may have isolated people in her struggle to get to the top, but on realizing this fact, she didn't become self destructive. She instead made amends with the people she cared for which fits very well with her character. I am not exactly jumping with joy about her and sir rashid, but it's appropriate given their personalities and also their history.
I really have to hand it to the playwright, Sarmad Sehbai, for addressing so many sensitive topics with such grace, the directer for beautifully executing them, Iqbal Ansari sb for heading such a brilliant project, the actors for their outstanding performance and the musical team behind the soul stirring OST
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
oh wow just 17 episodes!! That should in itself go down in history that Geo produced something this short in today's times! LOL
I have a bit of catching up to do!!
