Good ending, it wasn’t as dark as I was expecting it to be. All the parallel stories were wrapped up very nicely. :k:

Re: Sarmad Sultan’s new drama ‘Jal Pari’
^ agreed. If this was one of our khawateen digest writer aunties, they would’ve either turned munniya into a prostitute or made her commit suicide. thankfully they didn’t write this story :p.
we need more writers like Sarmad Sehbai… it’s rather ironic that in the old days of PTV, script and direction were our strength, but due to limited budget, the production quality used to be very poor (remember those fake painted backgrounds :)). Now the production quality is top notch, directors are superb, back ground score, makeup, clothing, basically everything is at its best except the script. We simply don’t have enough good urdu playwrights.and to make matters worse most good school now prohibit kids from even conversing in urdu , tau likhna tau door kee baat hai ![]()
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
dooree hahah I totally agree with khawateen digest part - muniya would've committed suicide!!
Hats off to Sarmad Sehbai - each story was handled very well. I was initially annoyed with overbearing Rakhshinda, but she handled the marriage crisis really well, beautifully written and executed. She was a psychologist, and older and wiser than Muniya, and she confronted Muniya with confidence...she manipulated Muniya (who had thus far manipulated everyone else around her) into letting go of Hamid. Loved how she said that for the last 12 years of their marriage, she has taken care of every small thing related to Hamid without realizing that perhaps she's suffocating him just a bit.
Adnan Siddiqui was spot on for this role, he was in command, and did justice to this role. After a long time, I appreciated him in a play.
What the hell was he thinking signing up for Maat & mere qatil mere dildar?

Re: Sarmad Sultan’s new drama ‘Jal Pari’
What a great and intelligent script. I felt like I was watching something from the 80s by Ashfaq Ahmed where half the stuff used to fly over my head as a kid. Loved the Character dynamics and brilliant writing! I wish the sound quality was a bit better overall - too much background noise in quite a few epis.
I agree Sehar - loved the way Rakhshanda handled the situation like an intelligent woman. Kind of reminded me of Zara from Daam. We NEED more strong positive characters like these. It was so good to see a woman handle such a delicate situation so WONDERFULLY! Kudos to Sarmad Sehbai sahab :k:
Overall loved Neelum Munir and yes Agreed about Adnan Siddique - finally dude you did something worth watching!
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
What a drama! We really do need a few more of this kind to stretch our brains a little. It was hard to put this drama in any defined genre and that was the beauty of it. And those melodramatic scenes of Neelam Munir when she explains 'love' to all those men were wonderfully done. You didn't know if she was normal or not at those times. :), brilliant acting! And yes all wives should become psychologists to handle their husbands mid life crisis like Rukshanda! The only criticism is perhaps Neelam's Wardrobe, just one word for it, Awful!
Btw, I'm really looking forward to seeing Fawad Khan and Neelam Munir together. A very interesting pairing that would be!
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
^ Yep totally looking forward to seeing FK and Neelum together. I just hope the script is good!!
I have always seen Neelum dress like that in her tv interviews - skinny jeans/pants and some figure hugging type of shirt. It looked like that was her own wardrobe to me.
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
actually i thought the wardrobe went pretty well with her character. She's someone who is used to wearing eastern clothing and doesn't have a clue about western attire, specifically what is appropriate for work. Like that shirt of her with the front knot shudder, I can totally picture a girl like her thinking that is something "cool" to wear.

LOL, yes I also shuddered at that top! Somehow I don't think they actually planned it that way, maybe unintentionally it does fit in with the story of a girl who has just discovered western clothes. It is quite likely that it is indeed Neelam's own wardrobe as RukhsarBibi mentioned.
I find women in Pakistan who wear western clothes to work can't distinguish between 'formal work wear' and 'beach/nightclub wear'! Sara from Humsafar is also another case in point. Some of the clothes these girls wear would be considered inappropriate office wear in the west!
I also think people in Pakistan have a distorted view of what it means to be 'modern'. Some of the clothes these girls wear would be considered tacky and not decent even by western standards.
Re: Sarmad Sultan's new drama 'Jal Pari'
It hasn't aired in North America yet. It will start soon. Just yesterday I saw a preview for it on Geo and was telling my mother that this looks like a really good production to watch. We are looking forward to it.
I must say, that little kid from Ek Hatheli Pe Hina, etc. is incredibly irritating. He overacts and he is part of the reason why I could not finish watching Ek Hatheli Pe Hina.

agreed! it's interesting how every country has their own rules even if they wear the same kind of clothing. I work for one of the largest Consulting firms in the world and am based in the USA. A group from UK was over in our NY branch. Their makeup was super loud and the clothes were OTT (club wear). They honestly looked like they belonged on jersey shore and not in our office. It got me thinking that maybe USA is super conservative. I mean geez, we don't even wear sleeveless to work because it's against our dress code (though you can get away with something that covers your shoulders).
A few weeks back, a new hire from Indian origin attended an office party with a shirt that exposed her mid riff. ughhhh like there was a knot around the shirt. I was honestly embarrassed for her :s

haha i totally agree with you... i am also in NY and the way people dress here is a lot different then what we see on tv or even other countries
your not allowed to really wear sleevless either and we didnt even have casual friday till a few weeks ago..
i think Sarah in humsafar pulls it offf sometimes but for the most part she needs to work on it
even guys, they wear jeans to work in dramas i just dont get it..
although the drama was excellent, but Neelums wardrobe especially office wear was beyond bad
