indopak, so this would be a kanjivaram sari too, right? Its my mom's but she gave it to me and she always called it banarsi but the material is not super thick.

that doesn't look like a banaras sari because banaras ones are really really thick and full of zari but i'm not sure whether it's a kanchivaram, it might be....did you buy it in south india somewhere? I'll have to ask my mom.
It's a beautiful sari though and I love the color:)

I have like 7 sarees in all from jahaiz n bari…n i only got to wear 2 after my shadi…

here is one i got from Nucreation in Toronto…the picture isnt too clear… wore it to a cousins Walima…I had so many people comin upto me and askin me where I got it from…they only have the banarsi kinda sarees in pakistan…u hardly see the ones with some kaam…and the ones that do have it…are quite expensive…
this one I wore to my “Chothi”…

Hm, where in pak did u shop? i got osme pretty nice kaam-walay sarees, but i've seen some that are much better than mine as well. I like the second one, its pretty!

Was shopping in Karachi....therez a bazaar there ...famous for saris...called banaras....since i am not that much into banarsi sarees....I didnt get one....
but the kaam wali sarees I did like...were designer....but the prices were crazy...like 15000-30,000 range....

Ohhh... in Lahore, i got this really nie saree...from Anarkali. its kinda heavy, they were asking 14,000 for it. i didnt' look into more though.

it was $100 ...considerin it has hand work on the borders...I thought it was a reasonable price....
u should check them out for saris...sometimes u can find really pretty saris at a very reasonable price...I have a couple more from them...will post pics soon....

SGC- it was on display and I thought it would be about 200 something...but amazing price...so we got 2....Mine is a navy blue colour...and my sister got a very bright pink in it....worth the money...
oh and by the way....they are up for bargainin...if something is priced at 160...as this one was...I started with 90 or so...and ended up with a 100....Always bargain these guys!!

So pretty! Could you tell me what a butterfly pallu is? I’ve heard of it, but haven’t seen it. Is that when the pallu is “thin” near the shoulder and flares out in the back?
