thanks ira :), i'm thinking it's because kachivarams are named after the particular place in which they are made in south india and the same case with banaras sarees. And the material in which kanchivaram sarees are made with isn't as thick as banaras ones. Other than that i'd have to ask my mom, i'm not really sure.
banaras saris are beautiful and have a lot more zari work than kanchivarams but the fact that they are thick can make them really hard to wear or wrap around.
do you girls buy ready made or ordered wala sarees? I am asking this because my sister got a very ugly saree from someone who she had given money to to buy her one from lahore, I think she got conned as it was definitly not worth the the 100 euros which is like 9000 ruppees
Its a shame to even post the sarees pictures !
The pics above are really gorgeous though, i am personally not a fan of wearing sarees coz i think i will look hideous with a headscarf and a saree.
shay are your eyes naturally that gray color...they're so pretty :)
You should definitely think about a profession in modeling, you have the figure for it
indopak, so this would be a kanjivaram sari too, right? Its my mom’s but she gave it to me and she always called it banarsi but the material is not super thick.
you think so? hrm… i’d wear this as a guest to a wedding or even at a big eid party, but i wouldnt wear it if i was a bride! its not heavy enough for that methinks.
i love this sari, and the fact that she’s also wearing one- she pulls it off so well. this is at the breast cancer research foundation’s “hottest pink party ever!”
