Baba - yesterdays wall st j had some numbers on unit sales. Iphone sales decreased sequentially in last 2 quarters from 35 million to 28 million ( writing from memory). I am pretty sure aneroid share has increased from say 9 million to the 10 million you stated. So android has hone from 20% share to 27% in just one quarter. As you implied that is very meaningful. ( wont derail now)
Actually there is a reason for the iPhone decrease. People are waiting for iPhone 5.
The 10 million number was just the Samsung S3, not Android. Samsung in total has sold about 35 million phones in the last quarter (taking iPhone’s lunch). Again, that’s just Samsung, not including all the other Android manufacturers.
You sound like you already got the S3!
No, I haven’t bought the stylus. It would seem too much like me and my Windows Mobile phones 7 years ago.
was just doing some research online to see if the phone can also second as my tablet esp in meetings to take notes etc and that’s how I came across the stylus.
Gotta agree though that I haven’t used the stylus all that much even with my ASUS Transformer tablet - so probably wont use it much with the phone either.
Woot woot!
You got the white one LC, lovely. Now to get you hooked up to a good protective gear :) and rooting love. Is this your first IceCream Sandwich device? Maybe you should just jump to JellyBean.

yep... already ordered the Samsung OEM Flip jacket and a hard-case back cover for it.
would love to get in on the JellyBean action... just point me in the right direction - but I should probably wait to do the upgrade and Rooting the device - just want to get over the initial 15 day period for returns to make sure there aren't other defects etc.
For now it's getting the data over and required apps all setup - AirDroid, SwipePad, Social Media stuff etc.

There was an issue with my Network Settings at home because of which my laptop wasn't syncing with my AirDroid App. Waiting to fix that now that the issue seems to have been resolved.
I have SwipePad, haven't configured it yet.
And then I have I dunno how many other apps. Never had that many on my iPhone. There's a whole bunch of more meat out here. :D
^ Niksik... for me, I have to have Swipepad, Airdroid, Office Viewer, Dropbox and Chrome. Can't live without these "basic" apps.
There are more specific apps that I need but they're not show-stoppers per say.
Here are a few questions from an S3 newbie:
1- Is there really a need for me to install Kies? I used to hate iTunes and don't really want an intermediate interface to manage my files unless I really really have to.
2- Are there any specific Samsung Apps that you guys would recommend downloading?
3- How do you get your playlists to work in the S3 stock music player? I tried installing Samsung's Music Hub but can't figure out how to access my m3u format playlists. I can see all my music files but not the playlists. I know I can probably install another player like Winamp but wanted to see if the stock player or a Samsung app would be able to do the job.
Jellybean final release is releasing in august right?
Jellybean is already released for the Nexus devices (Nexus S, Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus) and its been pushed to AOSP last month itself, for the S III and all other phones, its up to the manufacture decide whether they want to update or not :p, when they are finally ready with the update we Nexus owners will be enjoying our Key Lime Pie's (Android 5.0) :)
Guys stop talking good things about your making me want to get one. i'm an iphone user. i can't be tempted by an android Can i? LC honestly what do you think about it, I don't like the big screen that's one of the things making me not want to get one.

Usman, I also had reservations about the screen size... but it's actually pretty good! it's not as "gigantic" as ppl think it is - just a little bigger and only a couple of hours of use and I already feel that the screens on my old phones (iPhone 4 and Xperia X10) as inadequate.
