Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

I personally think, they both should not deserve a second chance in National team. Both made conscious decision of spot fixing.
Muhammad Amir was young and probably under the influence of Captain when deliver no ball.

Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis - The Express Tribune

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

Both kept lying about it for years, did not admit it for very long time, they tried to fool the nation for very long time until they realized its not working. I am not even sure if I ever saw any signs of remorse or an apology from either of the two.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

This

These two should not be allowed back especially Butt as he was the captain and the ringleader.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

Lying or not admitting their mistake should not be a disqualification from playing cricket. Pakistani politicians have been lying, plundering, and looting the country, never admit their mistakes, yet we are okay with voting for the same bunch of crooks again and again.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

So what you are saying is that because our politicians are crooks we should take no steps to improve in other areas and let the rot continue in other places as well.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

What I am saying is that we should not hold sportsmen to a higher standard. When our top leadership is a bunch of crooks, and we are okay with them being so, then why get so righteous about mere cricket players? These cricketers didn't come from outside, they're a product of our society. And as a society we have established that cheating, lying, deceiving, looting, bribing is a normal, routine thing to do. So why get angry when the crickets do it, when we ourselves do the exact same thing every day in our lives?

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

If Ganja sharif can become the PM then please bring back Asif Don And Butt

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

The players in the sub continent should be held to the same standards as the rest of the population. The only persons who can oppose the inclusion of these players are those who have

1) Never lied
2) Never made a mistake
3) Never used influence to get things done
4)Never underpaid house help
5) Have worked ceaselessly to ensure the sweepers and the laborers get a fair living wage and health care and a liveable retirement package
6) Don't live in glass houses
7) Never engaged in religious and sectarian discrimination
8) Never posted a rude comment in any forum
9) Never were rude to anyone
10) Always paid their fair share of taxes

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

See thats exactly why I opposed Amir's inclusion in the begining cuz I saw this coming. I knew people will raise the same for two others too. Now honestly give me one good reason "by principle (not emotional) that one can be returned and others not. Just FYI, Amir didnt accept the charge right away either. It took many days, investigation and grilling afterwhich he accepted, much earlier than the rest ofcourse.
If you say he is young, then its really going against the logic cuz it should be the fitness level in cricket. If you talk about performance and other issues, I'm sure they'll do something to become eligible to atleast be in A team.
The only option would have, had the board got the guts to announce that anyone who brings a shame to country will not be given a chance to represent its final eleven. Just like Saleem malik, Danesh kaneria etc.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

Without going again into the whole saga there is a big big big difference between the behavior of Amir after what happened and these two. That has to be taken into account.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

The first sentence shoukd read "supported" instead of "opposed". Delete the last para, and you are good to go.

It is a game. Young people make mistakes. Sometimes old ones do too. Once a person does his time, don't take away his livelihood.

Let us not hold cricketers to a standard that most if us can't live up to.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

The trio committed a crime, stop confusing it with anti-disciplinary antics which is quite different.

I don't even buy Muhammad Amir is young excuse. These players go through enough professional training and scanning to know that this sort of sheet is unacceptable under any circumstances.

These guys can play any level of cricket, but in my eyes, they have lost the privilege of wearing the green shirt.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

The trio committed the crime
The trio did the time

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

Southie you are a finance person. Let me ask you this. Please give me a case where someone is committed guilty of insider trading, did his time and then hired by the same company later. Just one example. Once you do it we can go from there.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

You ask for a specific scenario. Which clearly I can't oroduce.

Obama yesterday spoke about giving the YOUNGSTERS who veered off the path a chance to gain employm3nt.

Can't think if a better example

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

That example is quite lame cuz it doesnt even match what we are saying here. Nobody is stopping them to play club cricket etc either. Its just they cant represent the same country in final eleven. I think I rest my case :)

Here, take few more reasons for lulz](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=lulz)

IK also infinitely supports likes of Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar - the two Prima Donnas and self destructive rebels of Pakistan cricket that I often cannot stand. Sorry Immy.

PS: That lulz](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=lulz) only looked cute on Waleed.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

No we are not okay with that, yes they have hardcore supporters who will support them regardless of what they do because other choice-politicians are of same caliber. If I had a choice I would throw these corrupt/liar/cheat politicians in an isolated jail lie Alcatraz.

Yeah, IK should not have been allowed as politcian.

Re: Salman, Asif deserve same chance as Amir: Waqar Younis

Judging by some people's mentality and attitude, if only he a had proper criminal record, he would have been a Prime Minister of Pakistan long long time ago. :)
