no I am not offended … why should I? if a player wears a taweez, that is perfectly fine … if he wears his lucky religious band that is great…lucky bandana for Caribbean players…awesome!
sir jee there is no complex problem or slippery slope here… it is really simple…anything that goes with the flow of the game in a natural way is absolutely fine as it adds to the beauty of any sports…i already gave examples…mohsin khan in lords, upon winning the world cup etc …
what i am opposing is a systematic process that has been followed by our team as a ritual in last 10 years… all 7 captains practicing the exact same thing!!! every playing eleven following the same ritual since 2003 … now that is deliberate effort to use a platform which is meant to be a sports platform…that is not fair…
i was pretty specific in my last post …please no individual examples and yet you came up with isolated examples…and sri-lankan team pic…what are you talking about… is sir-lankan team practicing the same thing what our team is doing for so many years? of course not…if our team wants to go to data darbar before the world cup, that is perfectly fine …
**I asked that please give me one single example of a national team in any sports who represents its country and yet exhibits religiosity on a collective basis to drive an agenda for over 10 years… **but no answer…instead called me “atheist” or "ashamed of my religion’ in so many words…lol … not fair!
anyway, i think the thread has served the purpose…i have made my point and others have theirs as well..great discussion! thx guys…
of course, absolutely no harsh feelings. You said what you think is right, I said what I think is right and we both did it in decent manner (I am decent anyway )
Sadja or no sadja, lets keep fingers crossed for tomorrow
@ Huma - you made an accusattion I used the word bias. I didn't. Januja did. Twice. In this thread.
I personally don't have a problem with that word. I have said repeatedly we all have our biases our blind spots colored by our backgrounds and perspectives. This instance is just one case in point.
I haven't read the whole thread but Mo Farah did sajda after winning both his gold medals at the Olympics. Amir Khan reads dua before his boxing matches and I have seen Samir Nasri reads dua before his football games too. Then you get all those Catholic footballers who touch the pitch and make the sign of the cross before running on at the start of the games. So its not just cricket!

Fredrick Kanoute former spurs and sevilla player always recited or mouthed prayers whenever he used to score a goal.
