Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

TLK, Shell out some serious dough and buy more expensive electric shaver. I have been using electric shaver for years , they are getting better and better always. But as I said you will have to spend a little more than 25 dollars to get the best results.
I have not used safety razor for more than a decade.

You know what was more scary, the constant hysterical, psycho laughter of his girl friend, ut was almost like she was enjoying the whole torture

I know I know you have fascination with red cheeked people but I am not falling in your trap after watching that video :nahi:

oye, kanjoos kis ko bola .. ok ok .. I have 40 dollar one .. but I guess you are right, I should by the more expensive one …

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

the video is superb!! wow i wish someone could do that to my class fellows, best torture eva!!!

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

if you are talking about the closesshave it will nothandle a be electric shavers or safety razors, since most ppl cant a straight razor, they can go for one of the safety razors i.e. the ones you probably remember your elders using where the 2 sided blade drops in a razor.

TLK, here is a good link for you

The Art of Shaving

Truefitt & Hill - Safety

Taylors of Old Bond Street - shaving, straight edge razor, aftershave, mens gifts, luxury gifts, skin products

I have used a norelco spectra electric shaver which is great as a backup

when you have figured out the razor needs, please explore the world or silvertip badger bristle brushes.

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

And I thought I was the only person who likes the old conventional style of shaving…with the nice brush that froths up the cream and then a sleek blade :hayaa:

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

There is no replacement for a good shave using a good shavesoap or creme, a good brush, working up nice warm lather, and then shaving properly. a warm compress before..good aftershave and moisturizer later.

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

X2, I was a big fan of straight edge and safety razors. I must admit that because of the microwave society that I have become the part of, I am one of those who wish to (if I can) shave with left hand and eat my breakfast with the right hand so I moved to disposable cartridges one and electric shavers, because you can hardly go wrong with them no matter how quickly you shave

Using straight edge on your own face is an art. I was never able to pull that without cutting myself, so I gave up.

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

dude, it takes time and none of us have it, its an ayyashi of sorts.
I use a fusion power on a daily basis, safety is a weekend ayyashi. merkur blades
straight razor, like you, i was never good at and would nick and cut myself so I gave that up but may try my hand at it again. dunno..

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

TLK. Remember how the lady at the store taught me how to use the straight edge razor on a balloon to practice?

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

was she comparing TLK to a balloon?
what a badtameez aurat she was, you should have just cut her..

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

Back in Michigan, I tried to find barbers who can give me a shave using straight edge. I was surprised to find that no barber is ready to do that. They were either not aware of that art or dont do it because of legal purposes. I guess some jerks must be suing the barbers because of nicks and cuts, hence barbers stopped doing that.

One person told me that there are some specialized barbers who are still doing it but charge up to 50 dollars for that

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

TLK, yup most places dont know how to do it, the first time I had a shave like that in US, the barber took of a bunch of skin. some places did not allow it, health reasons and all it was especially a big no no with HIV fears.

There are some good places that do that, Chicago has Halo, Johnallen, trufittand hill

John Allan’s

Truefitt & Hill | Locations | Men’s barbershops in Chicago, London, Toronto.

HALO [FOR MEN] | SERVICES | MEN’S HAIRCUTS, SPA, SALON, MANICURES, PEDICURES, WAXES AND FACIALS

thats one advantage of chicago, having these outlets, I think truefitt has just a handful of locations, same for john allan.

in your neck of the woods I did a little searching and found this, you may want to check them out.

Capelli’s Gentlemen’s Barbershop - Seattle’s Premier Men’s Barbershop Experience

art of shaving has a location there, not sure if they have a barbershop as well or just a sales shop.

Valentines - Services

No she just was trying to comment on how “chikna” he was :chai:

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

What about laser treatment? Not to get rid of the whole shebang, but to slow down the re-growth…? :hmmm:

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

even if you slow down the regrowth, you still have to shave, and when you shave it has to be good. so good shave gel/cream/foam is a must, as is a good razor.

laser shmaser..i dont mind shaving, its a refreshing experience, very zen if done right

maybe sheila was a man…as tone loc discovered..

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

Thanks X2, I will check out those links ..and Maroush, as X2 mentioned, shaving is a very soothing experience if done right, so laser maybe left for the guys who wants to dress up like girls for professional reasons

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

I need to get a good electric shaver for hubby. Or maybe razors will do :hmmm:

Re: Safety Razors vs Electric Shavers

How about both

Upward strokes are for gays and chiknas only.

I guess there's a difference when it comes to people using the electrical shavers and safety ones. The ones who use the electrical shavers may notice facial hair growing in not symmetry at all. Whereas the ones who have been using the safety ones get the hair in a batter order. They don't look like a bush from jungle, more like in order. And ofcourse that depends how he has been using his blade, preferably stroking downwards rather than going up.
