Russia can use nuclear weapons in preventive attacks: military chief Saturday, January 19, 2008
MOSCOW: Russia’s military chief of staff said Saturday that Moscow could use nuclear weapons in preventive strikes in case of a major threat, the latest aggressive remarks from increasingly assertive Russian authorities, American news agency reported.
"We have no plans to attack anyone, but we consider it necessary for all our partners in the world community to clearly understand… that to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia and its allies, military forces will be used preventively, including the use of nuclear weapons,‘’ Gen. Yuri Baluyevsky said.

Wonder why he felt the need to rattle his sabre now? Russia is raking it in from the oil boom, under Putin has re-asserted its pride. Between the weakness that USA under Bush has suffered and the strength that Russia has regained under Putin, we are at the cusp of a two-polar world again I guess.
Difference this time is that China and India have joined the classes of Japan and far east as economic entities, which will hopefully encourage the checks and balances of the two-pole world without the histrionics and risks of a cold war.

A very nice observation my friend. But trust me even If there are rumours about another cold war India and China will not be the one who can hinder Russia to make It reality. Therefore Russian would need a change in mindset, which will not happen regardless of all the very influencing russian millionairs on russian politics residing in England.

And where were you when the Moscow Theatre was taken over by Chechen Militants leading to the deaths of 120 people and 40 militants, or 10,000 Russian Soldiers have been killed fighting in Chechenya or Beslan School Siege in which 400 Russian children were killed

With all respect X2, since you have had made a generalization on this.
Not everything that goes against your country you migrate to, has to be propaganda. Don't forget that propaganda was spread around US (with governments approvals) by the same people who made terror exist in our society with false claim on religion. Best example: Abdullah Azzam Saheb....and I dont want to discuss this right here, right now...warna phir offtopic ho jaye ga mamla. SO Its not that easy these days to differ between propaganda and non-propaganda when you have a split communities like we have in this century.
