Re: Role of moderators (continued from that other thread)
The role of moderator is primarily as described by X2:
** facilitators promoters consensus builders dispute resolvers and in the end discipline enforcers"
**Also keep in mind that these are purely volunteer positions and the mod team give up their own valuable time to help run this site.
As I see it there are three elements to this operation, Admins, Mods and the Posters. Each one is equally important and the site would not operate if one of these elements was missing. It therefore follows that all three have certain amount of responsibilities to ensure the success of this site.
Here we are looking at the role of the Moderators. Their role is as explained above and Anil for you to snigger at their role as facilitators and promoters is just not true. Just look around the forums and what is happening currently, the cafe mods are runnng a series of fun polls, a very good thread promoting General forum has been posted yesterday by the General Mods. RKS and jokes forum are running competitions to get guppies involved in their forums and recently audio mods ran a number of programmes to increase awareness and participation of posters in their forum. Mods also made a superb comedy video which is in the video forum. All these are the current promotions going on in the forums. There is a lot more the mods do. Take KK for example, before every major tour which Pakistan undertakes polls are run, a fantasy league competition is run and articles are posted to stimulate discussion. Yes we can do more and any suggestions by posters are welcome but under the circumstances and constraints under which they operate the mods are doing well.
As I said before it is a partnership between the three of us so there is also a responsibility on the posters and ATA has made some good points there. I would welcome more suggestions form our posters on how to improve and incorporate other ideas within the various forums. I do from time to time receive such suggestions and we do look at all of them. Unfortunately 95% of the time all I receive is complaints when posts are deleted or threads locked. That is fine and I do look into them but would welcome more participation from posters as to new ideas. RKS forum which was launched recently came about purely as a result of suggestions by various posters and their participation in creating and launching it.
Anil the only suggestion that I recall you have ever made is to ban Indians from these forums. Hopefully we will get some more constructive suggestions in the future. :)
Thanks Ehsan bhai, but that was not it, so much to say further, but due to poly-tical situation at GS, can't say much or in fact I stopped discussing many things and you know it, warna ham bhi aadmi thay baray kaam kay... :-) ... but still we can have some whispers, only if you have some time for me, the poster :$

Yeh watan Hamara Hay …
Ham hain Paasban iss kay …
When we do criticisms, it should be taken as serious note and the person should be treated as the most loyal person, because he or she is criticizing in the line of love and care and want to correct it!!! …
I am the person who do appreciate most of the things and also criticize as well, because all in love and care! … Period!!!
Here in this thread I noticed an unbalanced discussion by Anil, which I personally didn’t agree, hence I had to jump in this pool and pointed out the other part of the picture which is pasted on the same side of paper!
