Role of moderators (continued from that other thread)

Re: Role of moderators (continued from that other thread)

Well I think this thread has served it purpose hence administration should close it now ..

It was very kind and generous of x2 and ATA bahi to answer most of our doltish questions …

I comprehensively agree with eshan bahi and his trio theory here .. But some how I believe Gs administration should not feel trapped or kidnapped by general users which is quite evident in this post …

Moving it to feedback forum was a sensible and appropriate action taken by x2 bahi at very first place ..

**

**

*Then it was moved back to general forum after above quoted post made by Anil Khan , I don’t agree with his ‘ nads to see what the people of general think ‘ theory .. *

Do we have any specific general crowd ? I don’t think so my lord …

Most of the users I know here visit several forums including feedback and Gs support forum every day .. so if its all about getting feed back from general users, it could be / should be done in feedback and Gs support forum….

Once we have set the standards , we should follow them and urge/make general users to follow them as well ….

*Its very high time and relevant that Gupshup administration should think about starting paid membership scheme .. I aint asking to go all hands for paid membership but we can keep it running like yahoo or hotmail guys .. Choice would be yours , if you wana stay normal user , keep using it for free but paid membership would come with extra benefits .. *

We have loads of members , who are down here from some grand years .. if given attractive benefits / mitzvahs , I hope they don’t mind paying 30 to 50 quid for a yearly membership …

Ehsan bahi , ask x2 bahi to write a business proposal on this yoke .. there is a niche in market .. if it work out for us . we would be running Gs as a public limited company very soon..

*When we regard our normal users as stakeholders why don’t make them real shareholders.. *

A real marketing department should be another yoke on our list , when sites like urdupoint get some real advertisement , why cant we ? I have seen some matrimonial ads over there .. our wedding/shor sharba/ cooking forums are doing well indeed .. if we approach our target market with feasible plans , I hope , we can do it as well ….

Lately I have seen threads about very common problems regarding threads and blogs in our feedback/support forum , like how to do this and that ..

Its time we should update our FAQ and do some video demos regarding basic issues , demos same as we get with software products .. for example why not do a video demo which will cover issue from how to add smileys to how to add tags in your post …

We have very much elaborated threads in several forums ( for example .. Audio form) regarding tag issues but still we see people facing trouble following given instructions . Therefore we should kiss it , I mean keep it simple . Hence a video demo would be more beneficial for our general users .. and thesedays we have tech support gurus in our Administration crowd who are very much capable/green thumb of doing such assignments ..

My two and half pence :D

Re: Role of moderators (continued from that other thread)

as politically incorrect as it may seem, I have to agree with what you said here. What pir sahib said up there is what an ideal mod is suppose to do, but to what degree a majority of mods conform to those standards is still controversial. So i agree with you that the sense of empowerment is a major factor in people accepting and keeping modship.

This is my opinion from an impartial point of view since in my time here I haven't had any issues with any mods or admins.

Re: Role of moderators (continued from that other thread)

^^ If I may take a liberty of telling something from Mod's perspective ...

This is not correct to assume that the sense of power is all what they enjoy..

Ehsan bhai has his own way of checking how a mod is performing ... and belive me ... closing threads and warnings is not particlulary what he is looking for ... in order to judge Mods performance ..

He looks at the traffic a mod is helping to generate in his/her forum ... not how many people he/she is kicking out ...

He is looking at how a mod is keeping his/her forum, conflict free by creating a freindly atmosphere.

I got questioned by him .. when I said something as a Mod .. and he reminded me of the tone I should carry as a Mod.

Now, the point is this that if I want to keep General a friendly forum, I might have to warn or talk to or ban some non-friendly people.

Fortunately I never had to do that ..cause 95 % of members are mature, friendly and responsible adults
