Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
some people are just taking it personal here. my point related to this was why they wear it, my concern is not should they wear it or not, certainly its their own choice and everyone has it. everyone has own reasons, tastes, peer pressure etc. we are not here to decide who is naik parween or who isnt and being shareef doesnt always related to how they dress.
I am not advocating for Islam here, I am taking about any women regardless of faith and culture.
i just wanted to know whats in their mind?
but instead of answers they take offence here including LB even no one has pointed.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
There are alot of things that people do which is against Islam, same way we can ask why do people make up such outrageously ridiculous lies? For attention, right? That’s not Islamic behavior either :halo:
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
The same way as someone else would ask whats the point of wearing ten layers of clothing in stiffling heat and smelling of BO.
Personal choice.
Far from taking offence, just wanted to stop the ridiculous debate into getting more idiotic.
I am more intrigued by Morals of a person who is willingly wanting to flirt openly when they are engaged to someone.

what people wear can be determined by culture +religion (or lack of it) + their individuality + sometimes the will to give the appearance of holding certain traits/personality. the extent to which of these factors rules your dress most is different for different people. some people tend to give importance to their individuality moreso than their religion/culture. others want to let the world know they possess a certain trait through their dress (for example power dressing for a business meeting or bohemian dressing) i can tell you for most women it has very less to do with dressing for the purpose of getting men sexually excited. in their day to day lives it might have a lot to do with just wanting to blend in while still standing out in a good way and feeling good about themselves.
even in the west, dress is dictated by popular culture.....those who dont comply with it are mocked (ever watched "what not to wear"? ever heard of the "fashion police"? aside from that, magazines are constantly dictating what women should be seen wearing). try wearing clothes that are too tight/ too revealing in an office. there are deviants in every culture but even in the west the masses tend to follow the norms. in some micronesian islands its normal for the women to wear much less than women in the USA and sometimes go topless. its just their culture.
whenever two cultures collide (in the case of pakistan we can see our culture is colliding with western culture through media etc in this age of globalization) sometimes these cultures blend and depending on perspective people adopt something from a culture they percieve as dominant. it is obvious that western culture is dominant these days. from standards of beauty to clothes to political framework of a country western standards are used for comparing.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
Aishaindubai, I am surprised 'you' are asking this question.
Anyway, I think the primary objective of dressing this way is to seek attention. You want people to look at you, admire your fashion sense.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
(sorry this may be out of context)
showing modesty is MUCH more then the way u dress....it's the way u walk, it's the way u speak.....overrall it's about the way u act. The way u present yourself and the way you dress makes a person modest.....both go hand and hand. You cant do one and not the other......and then prance around thinking that u are oh so modest just because u are covered from head to toe. No sorry that wont cut it on the DAY OF JUDGEMENT!!
just a reminder for those who think that u can cover.... yet lie, backbite, flirt, and what not and get away with it.
Allah sees and hears everything.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
farishta what do you mean by "me" saying this?
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
not appropriate to wear it in paksitan where people stare at everything.if they do it in the west then its probably ok.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
I agree with PCG on this one. If you dont like what someone is wearing, either keep it to yourself or tell the person your opinion, and leave them to decide what they want to do.
Talking about it to others, when they are muslim, is backbiting, and that should be avoided.
If you read up about Islam you will probably realize that there are 10000 things you do that are unislamic, whether you wear hijab or not. I also participate in gossip and am trying to curb this behavior.
In Islam, we dont talk bad about our fellow muslims, rather we encourage them to do good. Think about it, are you sincerely benefitting by talking bad about your neighbor who wears a lot of surma with her hijab, or talking about your neighbor in the mini-skirt? What good deeds are you accumulating here?
It's one thing to try and understand why people do what they do, but the best person to ask is the person wearing the outfit themselves. Just ask them, why do you wear that, are you uncomfortable? But many wont do this but will feel very comfortable speaking about it to others.
I wear a scarf and I dont call it hijab because I dont wear it for only religious reasons, and I do plenty of unislamic things, which I am slowly trying to improve. But, I will be the first to admit I am one of the worse muslims due to my knowledge of Islam and not practising everything I can to my utmost. Dont judge people just because they wear a scarf, and dont judge them just because they dont. Talk to them, get to know their ideas, and take it from there. You wouldnt like being talked about and having assumptions made about you, so dont do the same to others.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
depends, I think some girls look stunning in short sleeves. stretch marks or no stretch marks.
and some dont look good in even long sleeves and may actually be better off even with a niqaab and shuttlecok burqa.
I suppose its personal preferences. but to ay that all girls look unattractve in them is a false statement.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
maybe it was her husband ![]()
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
aisha, this statement coming from you is just too funny.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
You are what you wear.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
.
i didnt read PCG's post....but yea....im in complete agreement with that ^
one should nvr think highly of themselves and look down upon others...because that in itself isnt being very modest.
Re: Revealing Clothes+Hidden Purpose
Aisha u never wear short sleeves or a bit tight shalwar kameez?
