If you read your own signature you will arrive at what Boredman is saying. Although I deeply regret many have misunderstood it.
But I don't see how deeply philosophical can benefit us when it is completely and utterly out of context to the thread topic.
i think like any type of poetry, it's left up to the reader to interpret what the poem or poetry verse is saying and to me Rumi's verse is saying exactly how i want this world to be, a massive love for God and no need for religion. this will unite humanity for me. religion as i see it, only divides humans, when you have a simple belief in God what else do you need.
every religion has many bits in it that are very beautiful including islam, i take those parts for my every day life and ignore those parts i can't get myself to accept, this is how i see Rumi's line in my signature
Sure.. religion can make stupid people even more stupid.
What is worse is that religion makes a lot of potentially non stupid people.. stupid... "shut off your brain.. and follow this book.. or else" hahhaha what a scam!

Nisha, that’s why the Qur’an was sent down to us. Islam is NOT a religion at all. It’s a way of life. We submit to no one, no preacher, no judge, no one except God Himself. The Qur’an teaches that we should not divide amongst ourselves. Division is something that man created from the very beginning of civilization, when towns and states then nations were born, so were boundaries. With boundaries came the divisions.
Islam does not teach any type of division except it encourages for more interactment between other fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, it does not, however, rule out interaction with any other religion.
You should read an English translated version of the Qur’an and you will be surprised.
psyah bhai
I didn’t get to put the whole devotional poem in my sig, it wouldn’t fit, hence the …
A true Lover doesn’t follow any one religion,
be sure of that.
Since in the religion of Love,
there is no irreverence or faith.
When in Love,
body, mind, heart and soul don’t even exist.
Become this,
fall in Love, (with God )
and you will not be separated again.
thank you,i read most parts of the quran on my own, the english version of it but still have to learn more. i’ll look over that site

hahaha... why does god suffer from such acute fear of public speaking? break apart the clouds and yell "YO YO YO.. WHAT YOU ALL DOIN? LISTEN UP.. THIS RELIGION IS THE RIGHT ONE.. THIS IS HOW YOU DO.. NOW GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, AITE?".... but no.... he/she does not like public speaking... he/she goes to some random struggling dude in the himalayas.. or the desert.. or wherever.. and goes "HEY YOU.. COME HERE.. IL TEL YOU THE DEAL.. AND YOU.. GO TELL EVEYRONE.. OK???"

Awesome! But be very careful of where you read translations, many of the translations can be false and purposely misleading. The site I sent is very authentic, I even know the creator in person!
I hope to study other religions through their holy books as well as soon as I finish the Qur'an in both English and Arabic.
Good luck, and please do let me know via PM if you ever have any questions, I'd be more than happy to answer.

you're totally right, i had very knowledgeable muslims guiding me in the translations/interpretations of the verses i had difficulty with. I would never use unreliable sources or guides when learning any religion including islam. both learned pakistani muslims and indian muslims in islam were who i always went to for help with interpretations of quranic verses. i still hold to my opinions i made before in this thread, but i'll look over the site you provided since i'm still a learner of all religions

Awesome. I would recommend you read the entire thing though. As far as the more specific methods of how to incorporate Islam into our daily lives, we have the words and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) in what we call "hadiths", which 100% coincide with the teachings in the Qur'an. The most popular hadith is Al-Bukhari.
Since when does a random ID on some forum define a person completely?
It's a weak argument sharaab. I personally don't buy that it's completely "random" and don't take me for someone naive or immature. Knowing you and most likely your "kind", you are going to turn this into a debate of linguistics to steer away from the truth of the matter in which you (possibly subconsciously) realize that I am correct.
There's a saying that goes "A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything".

Calm down bud. There are no arguments on my name. I like to drink alcohol. I am not really a drunk sharabee though who does nothing else with his life.. that bit is just a joke. That's all there is to it.
And none of this has absolutely anything to do with what I said .. to which you responded by attacking me for having this name.

Let me correct you in return Sharaab, you claimed I was brain washing someone as I was speaking true words from the teachings of Islam. In doing so, you portrayed yourself as one who does not believe in Islam, all the while seeing your GS userID. It's a valid debate, but I like to cover my bases when I am in one.
I do, however, apologize if I did assume too much or stepped out of line.

You are absolutely correct on the bit about me not believing in Islam. I don't follow any religion for that matter so please do know that I am not singling out Islam. It is perfectly reasonable for you to assume that somebody with an ID sharaabee is probably not very Islamic.
"Fighting" is a bit extreme Nisha. No fights here.
I should be able to point out illogical stuff in religion and religious brainwashing. And you guys (religious folks) should be able to threaten me with hell and eternal fires. Freedom of speech.
