who is to be blamed ?

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

OMG :frowning:

The hospital should be held responsible for this!!!

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

I am wondering no nurse/doctor on duty in the nursery heard the babies crying all this time?

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

Give it some time guys…
CM Punjab will suspend the rat soon very soon
:chai:

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

^^

Or rather the cat. The cat was not doing its duty of keeping the rats away.

It is so sad that a life has been lost in these circumstances. This can happen anywhere in the third world countries including India(I am an Indian). If you dont have money, the hospital staff treat you like dirt. I have seen this happening myself.

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

The kid didn’t die God forbid. He was bitten and suffered bite injuries all over his face.

Nonetheless a very alarming incident. I have seen the situation in hospitals in Pakistan and let’s just say I have done tauba every time I step out of these places.

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

wait a minute, why is the baby not with the mother in the SAME room!!

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

^

The baby was in the Nursery at that time.

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

Thats the problem, the newborns should be in the same room as the moms, not in some nursery in hands of nurses.

Here is a link to an article of benefits of rooming in.

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

The question here is not this baby , but , the condition of the clinic or hospital where this incident occured… its dispicable if no action is taken against the administration of that clinic or hospital. It should be closed down immediately with all patients moved to closeby hospitals. The administration should be taken to court for their irresponsible behaviour.

I can bet a million dollars the administration were busy eating samosay somewhere, while the patient , the darling little baby was in so much torment.. Such people should be tried for manslaughter.

But will anything happen? no.. because the people who own this place will give rishwat to the politicians and police and they will get away with it. Like always ..

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

You’ll loose that bet. They were eating Aloo Paratha, not Samosay.

On a serious note: Leaving aside the fact that the baby should have been with the mum anyway. The fact that a baby was subjected to something like this in a hospital which is supposed to be one of the cleanest and safest places in any city, is extremely shocking. But does it surprise me that this can happen in Pakistan? No it doesn’t.

Re: Rats kill newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

If the baby hasn’t been killed, can the mods please change the heading?

thts so sad :frowning:

Re: Rats attack newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

7 years ago I spent two nights in a well-renown hospital in Karachi.
Noor was ill and had caught the stomach bug that everyone gets.
It was the most horrible experience that I have ever had in a hospital anywhere in the world.

The nursing staff didn’t give a hoot about what was happening. They were so busy with themselves, gossiping, eating, strolling outside in the garden area etc. Heaven forbid you should need them for something!

Hubby was tired and frustrated by their behaviour as well. When I told him how the first night had passed he went for explanations…armed with a video camera. Got most of the attitude on tape.

I remember asking the doctor on rounds in the morning about how I could bring my complaints to someone’s attention…the nurse was asked to bring me paper and pen to be able to write about my experience…the look on his face as he brought me the stuff is ingrained in my mind…pure fear…simply because he knew what was coming.

They did take action as a result of my complaint. Unfortunately heads did roll. This was not my intent but I was glad that something might have improved there. Sadly I did realize that I carried clout because of where I had come from…a local person with the same complaint may not have been taken seriously…

Re: Rats attack newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

i think the lower ranking staff in particular in our countries are very irresponsible…when caught neglecting their duty, usually utter these words and get off the hook “Ghalatii ho gaii saaHab, ab aisaa nahiiN hogaa”…this repeats time in time out. those guys take their duty so very lightly and i’ve experience in dealing with those guys. they are sitting in one corner chatting or going after the patients’ relatives asking for 'baKhshish"!

it’s about time the higher ups smarten up themselves and tighten the screws on those loose nuts. they have to be responsible staff members.

Re: Rats attack newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

agreed…but then there are those apologists that say, “Inn becharon ko waisay hi tankhwa kum milti hai. Inn say umeed karna bekaar hai.”

Re: Rats attack newborn in a hospital in Rawalpindi :frowning:

Seeing your own kid on a hospital bed is bad enough. And then having to go through something like this? What a horrible experience.

My son got sick during a train ride from Karachi to Lahore. We couldn’t really get off somewhere inbetween because going to a village clinic did not appear to be a viable option. So we stuck it out until we finally reached Lahore. With a 6 hour delay!!! Needless to say that on all Pakistan trips after that one, we flew the Lahore-Karachi route rather than taking a train.

Went straight from the Railway Station to the hospital where he had to spend 2 nights. The attitude in the beginning was similar to what you are describing. But once they realized that we are “baahir waale” they were all super friendly and helpful.
