Sit down and eat your breakfast first kiddo. You just said "if he lied to save his honour then he is a man of honour".
If pakistan does not take appeal and fight this ban, the victory against BD is illgotten.

take it ezz tom ! sachin got a tax exemption does that mean he's no more a hero-frigure in india? hell no, he just did a wrong thing and people criticized him for that. however, he's been a very clean player apart from this incident therefore people will forgive him for that. same goes for rashid, his sin in this game will soon be forgotten because he's by far the most honest and upright person in pakistani cricket 2day. so get a life and get over it !
I am wondering what will happen if Kamran Akmal clobbers the Bangladeshi attack. He is an aggressive hard hitting batsman. What if he scores a a century or some classy fifty's. Would he be dropped after Latif's ban is over or would we continue with him and drop Latif agaisnt South Africa??
interesting point lahorimunda, I always think we should have a new keeper ready, similar to what australia did when healy was in his last days, they had a hard hitting keeper (gili) ready for action. We dont want to go through another long testing phase to find a suitable replacement. In the last 15 or so years, its either been moin or latif mostly.

Alot of people here have said Latif is an honest cricketer what makes you think he is?
(no am not saying the ban is justified, I didn't see it so can't comment)

Rashid Latif is the reason why Wasim bhai was in hot waters for so many years in match fixing.
He is an honest guy, and is not that stupid to make such a foolish mistake.
The ball was clearly dropped, but I think as Rashid hit the ground, the ball popped out, but Rashid thought ball left his hand after the catch was fully completed thats why he didn't make a such a big deal about it.

I remember when Pakistan toured Zimbabwe in 1997, both Latif and Moin played in the team. Moin played as the specialist batsman, so it won't be a huge problem.
Rashid has really struggled with the bat of late. Him being missing is a blessing in disguise as far as I am concerned. I would like to see Moin back though.

I remember but I dont think Rashid or Kamran can justify their presense in the side as specialist batsmen. I have seen Kamran Akmal, though he is a hard hitting batsman he has a lot of technical flaws which he tries to overcome by swinging the bat to most balls within reach. We have players like Misbah, Saeed Bin Nasir and lot of others on the side line so I dont think this time one of the keepers will play as a specialist batsman.

I would say that Mr Latif's career is practically over.
This guy has brought disgrace in victory for Pakistan.
His character and integrity is in shambles.
He is somebody who was known to bring to light the whole controversial issue of " Match-fixing ".
He then made the "Strange" statement of ," Allowing the Bangladeshis to perform in first two tests...", ....... What did he mean by allowing to perform??, he and his counterparts wer not performing to the best of thair abilities??? Was'n that implied Match fixing??
And now he is found guilty of being a dishonest character.

whoaaaa , calm down sir!! later part of your comments are just so funny. By allowing somone to perfrom can be termed as relaxation.. NOT the match-fixing for heavens sake.
What irks me most that some ppl here base thier decisions on personal likes and dislikes. There are very few sane replies in this thread. Others are just going on lenghts to dub Rashid as a 'dis-honest' person. And some are going on legths to defend him.
I will point out an incident here, Rivaldo was fined and warned for faking a foul to earn a penalty in a worldcup match, how many ppl remember that??? Jacobs broke the stumps using his right hand with ball being in his left, how many ppl acutally can recall it??
This is an unfortunate and uncalled for incident for Pakistan team. But to pass comments such as 'shouldnt be captain' is totally hilariuos. I aint gonna judge Rashid's integrity on this one incident and dont know what really happened or was it Rashid's fault or not?
Should Rashid Latif continue as captain after his suspension?
Rashid Latif, Pakistan's captain, has been banned for five one-day internationals after being found guilty of violating the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct during the third Test against Bangladesh at Multan.
Should Rashid continue as captain of Pakistan's team after his suspension?
I think it would be pretty unfair on Rashid if we contemplate his removal...One-off cases do not represent behaviour...( even in this case it will be never be proved if the act was deliberate)
If there is huge plus for Pakistani cricket in Rashid as a captain then he should continue...
There is nothing wrong with his captaincy then why remove him? Do we have any BETTER alternative? yoyo still needs to work as depty for atleast a year or two.
A test player needs integrity and a captain needs credibility to be taken seriously. If this ban is left to stand by the PCB without putting up a life & death fight to lift it, Rashid should quit.
PCB simply accepting the sentence will be a sign that they also think Rashid cheated. In that case PCB has a duty to make a change to maintain its credibility.
I really really wish and hope PCB and Rashid will be able to fight and prove that this an innocent mistake and not a lie.
I didn’t see the catch, I can’t comment but after this “I don’t want to interfere in their planning,” said Latif, “but if Bangladesh does not play positive cricket they will not learn and improve. We allowed them to perform in the first two Tests but here we will try our best to finish it off early.”
No he shouldn’t be allowed, I mean than what was wrong with Wasim Akram “loosing to our brothers”?

Yeah and if you remember he got punished for it, he was banned for 3 games. Latif got the 5 match ban because he is the captain and has more responsibility.
If you haven't seen the match then how you came to the conclusion that Latif was not guilty ?
ehsan bhai - I agree with you completely and only reason I am posting here is because the double standard of the guppies.

The next time our government releases a statement "terrorists will not be allowed in the country" you will know that government purposely let the terrorist come in past. Use your brain.
He definitly shouldn't quit, his ban has nothing to do with his captaincy, every player in the past has had trouble with the law but leaving the captaincy is a sign of cowardness.
