thank you ... that is what i have been trying to say all along. most girls are forced to abort the baby because their parents/family don't want to be ashamed. if our society was more open about this, women would actually have a say in what THEY want to do.

When I said said that men should respect raped women, take them into their nikkah and help them over come this nightmare; you attacked me but it seems as if you are having issues accepting such women and children.

I don't think anyone here is against society being more open minded and accepting of rape victims. Nor is anyone here saying that every pregnant rape victim should be forced to have an abortion.
It's the idea of judging rape victims who chose to have abortions (or denying them that option all together) that's getting people annoyed with this thread.

So why people think a woman should have abortion incase of a rape pregnancy. It was that child's fault that his/her father was a jerk. Why kill the child for a crime that child hasn't even commited?
Rape is a cruel act and usually the woman and the child are the ones who suffer at the result of it, Unfortunately. It is no way a child's fault but why would anyone want to bring to this world a reminder that they were raped?!? It isnt the woman's fault either na that she was raped!.
The child is better off too without coming to this world or else his/her life would be miserable too.

The logic being employed here is that at the moment conception occurred, a child was destined to be born even if not formed. I found this argument (which happens to be the Catholic line) very persuasive...until we extended the logic to suggest that had the woman managed to resist the rape, the child would not have been conceived, and so not born, either.
True, once an egg is fertilized the actual biological process has begun...but it's not far fetched to suggest that this process could not have been interrupted otherwise. Also, if it's wrong to abort the process that leads to birth, is it wrong to prevent the process in the first place? So, I would argue that conception begins with intent on the part of the mother and father...
The real problem here is clearly that a woman was not provided post-rape treatment to avoid this situation in the first place...this is the only reason why pregnancy happens after rape...
