...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

Re: ...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

I think I need to become religious!

Re: ...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

Why do they remain open in masjid. Is there a pecific ruling for a masjid? Or is it that Shaitaan only likes to perform salah when the jaa-namaz is at home? :)

Re: ...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

people should not swear ever, but esp in Ramadan when they do, it is really disappointing.

standing in a room full of fasting guests at an iftaar and cutting the line to grab food for own self.

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

Whatever it may be, my point is why the corner? Ok fine I agree that even lets say for respect sake, but why CORNER? I was praying this evening and I knew my wife was going to come pray later, it was going to be left unused, so I folded it IN HALF. That makes more sense than just folding the corner. You follow?

Inshallah

Thank you for agreeing with me :shikra:

Yes we pray in Jamat and it takes all of us from 6-8 minutes to do wazu. My point is that even if it takes 15 minutes, that’s the usual gap between when the sehri time ends and when the prayer time begins.

p.s. your in-laws? you are married?

Re: ...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

Are we allowed to listen to music after the roza is over?

Re: ...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

Roza is gonna be over after like 3+ more weeks :@:

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

Listening to music is bad at any time :smack: However, if you are addicted and must listen to it, I would imagine you can, but again, it’s best if you avoid it. I don’t have much control over it as my family turns on the TV and they have songs etc. there :bummer:

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

HHL :hugz: didnt know you were on! I mean like after iftari silly! :smack:

Shikra: REally?? Music is haram?? I mean like musical competitions i just love SRGMP so wanted to know if i can watch it after the roza opens

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

by not listening to music in ramadan im admitting its bad and that i shudnt be listenign to it normally either, so i continue to listen to it :snooty:

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

I left after my last post and was Iftaar-ing. Just finished :emmy:

As for music, there are differences whether it’s haraam or halal. If there are ahadith saying that musical instruments are haram, then there are other ahadith (found in same books such as Bukhari) where Prophet told His wife (when she went to a wedding of Ansar) that it would’ve been better if music was arranged for the wedding

Re: ...Ramadan Pet Peeves...

simply my opinion. please dont snap back as a jest that Dushwari is presenting a fatwah.
it is not that, if anything else.

listening to good music is a judgment call.
Islam as a faith and Fasting as a self discipline drill are protectors from idle, trivial and as the world can see today, too distasteful and bordering on indecency sort of production.
so, it is up to the listener, how much time she or he dedicates to listening to music and what kind of music is listened to, during Ramadan or before and after this holy month.
lyrics and beats - musicality of the poetry, its referent, & its atmosphere where it is being heard all can go either way.

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

Well, to correct myself, music is okay as long as “dafli” (not sure what it’s called in English) is being used as the instrument as I’ve read. As for other instruments, I think they are prohibited.

I don’t have any reference at this point but I’ve read it in books/online.

Re: …Ramadan Pet Peeves…

Ok these are not Ramadan pet peeves, but just in general.

  1. When you are in sajda and quietly saying “subhana rabbiyal alaa”, all of the sudden this dude to your right or left loudly says SUBHANA RABBIYAL ALAA and ok I am not a focused person like some people may be, it distracts me and bothers me :grumpy:

  2. Even when the Imam requests several times, he starts leading the prayer, he finishes Surah Alhamd, WOMEN STILL WON’T SHUT UP AND CHILDREN WON’T STOP LAUGHING/CRYING/RUNNING AROUND!!!
