Questions which need answers? (merged)

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

What criteria do you use to judge between satisfactory or not?

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

Now u r beating around the bush...

Same could be said about the universe..! why couldnt the universe be self created... hence not requiring a creator...

U might wana join the republicans... u will flourish... as being irrational is one of their well known qualities... as concluded from their latest blunders...
Lastly.. i would like to say .. a person who gets mad or perhaps gets a lil edgy in an argument.. is the one who doesnt really have much to say...
So try and make sense .... maybe u will have my vote oneday.. or be a republican... as u r one naturally..

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

Ironic? It's quite obvious that like-minded people would gravitate towards one another.

And with all due respect, the manner of your introduction here was hardly conducive to warm welcomes, so I'd consider the silence a very warm welcome indeed.

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

And that's a cop-out. The question stands, as you were implying a link between volume of information and how satisfied you'd be with God...
Same could be said about the universe..! why couldnt the universe be self created... hence not requiring a creator...
...the steady state theory was in fact the preferred creationist view of the unvierse as the prevailing view was that the Universe was as timeless as God.

A creation event simply removes the universe as an attribute of God...
U might wana join the republicans... u will flourish... as being irrational is one of their well known qualities... as concluded from their latest blunders...
Off topic, but it shold be known that I write on those sites as a critic...not a supporter.
Lastly.. i would like to say .. a person who gets mad or perhaps gets a lil edgy in an argument..
Eh? Are you upset about my rebuke to your concern about being banned? Merely stating the fact, and echoing your own sentiments friend...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

that was my oppinion...

and this is urs...

keep posting.. so i can build up a very strong oppinion abt urself... thats why i wont have no regrets is making my choice as to how shouldi approach u in an argument..! .. i am not asking u to change the way u think..

Infact ..in case u havent noticed... only a religious person grows furioius.. when he reaches a dead end... and a non religious..or a moderatly religious person.. will laugh his way out.. i wonder..why? does religion creates this unwanted self perishing ego..! if so.. i dont want any of that...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

The entity God is all theory.. i dont even know if i would classify that as an entity..just like the creation of the Universe.. there r no facts.. so please dont pull the Holly book card on me like most people would on this forum..!

Lastly i my statement abt being banned had nothing to do with my sentiments that were raised with the heated argument on this thread.. infact i wanted them to be the lst words that would have come on to my post us i suspected my account getting suspended.... after reading some other threads which were flooded with some really irrational and close minded folks!

Note: critic ... is what u would say to define ur role here... but u r only supporting what the mass view is on this topic.. So i guess u r simply self contradicting ur motive...

Re: Questions which need answers ?

so what if fear is not a positive emotion. nobody lives life without fear. the point of life is not to live without fear or without any negative emotions at all. the point of life is not to feel happy all the time, living in a continuous state of euphoria. you could take drugs all day long if you want to feel that way.

every single legal system on earth works based on fear. if you do this crime, you get punished. therefore, don't do this crime. you accept that fear rules your life when the american government does it, but somehow you cannot accept that fear rules over all of creation when GOD is the administrator.

fear is a reminder. it is a blessing from God. if you went along your whole life doing wrong things and never felt any fear, the end result of your life would be a disaster for you and the people around you. fear repels evil away from you and you cannot function in daily life without fear.

Re: Questions which need answers ?

I agree with u on ur fear theory.. its fear what gets us to do most of what we do.. but i would still agrue.. If god was really god... how come he couldnt come up with a better tactic than this to get things done.. With him being the supreme power.. i suppose there were more ways he could have come up with that were not deployable by man...
example.. my boss will tell me..
if i am late at work .. i will be fired..
God says..
If i am late for prayer.. i will be in fire...
.. if he is capable of being such a complicated being to where understanding him is allegedlly beyond our limiitations, why his tactics are yet so simple... if he kept it simple for us to be able to relate to things better.. than i am afraid he didnt do a very simple job in introducing himself...
First he puts us on the planet...
makes us trust our senses.. touch ..smell.. sight.. bla bla bla
then once we belive in them strongly...
he tells us to believe in his existence which throws our trusts in our senses out the window!
Does he not want us to believe in Him..?

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

When you make propositions, you're meant to make presumptions. The question is not so much of a proof of existence for God, but rather the reconciliation of God with our understanding of universal origins. For the latter, it's easy to do.

I don't understand what you mean by Holy book card...
.... after reading some other threads which were flooded with some really irrational and close minded folks!
That is, those who disagree with you? :)

Ad-homenim is really no way to present your case.
Note: critic ... is what u would say to define ur role here... but u r only supporting what the mass view is on this topic.. So i guess u r simply self contradicting ur motive...
Ah...so if the masses support it, it must be wrong.

No, I was saying that I write critical responses on right-wing boards, and my responses are invariably removed. Such is the nature of posting on Internet forums. There really is nothing to pick at with respect to where I post...and certainly no contraditctions to be found...I'm merely stating experience, not positing an opinion.

Clearly I've upset you...I'm sorry...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

No dont be! I am not upset ..just challenged by the fact that someone could actually feel so strongly about the topic we r arguing about..!

You said most people here who dont agree with me are not close minded ( i meant when talking about subjects such as these)... than what would u say they r.. when they dont have a rational explanation to support their claims.. they r either scared ... or mad due to there low level of information..!
I havent classified u as one in my books yet since u r making sense to an extent ...

As far as the holy book card goes.. i meant the shortcut the mullas take to prove the existence of God.. "Quran"`...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

fear is not the only way to worship God. there was a hadith at the beginning of this thread that stated that you could worship God just for the sake of worshipping God. you could worship God for the benefit of worshipping God in the afterlife. you could also worship God for the fear of what will happen to you in the afterlife.

it is not complicated if you sat down and took the time to appreciate it. you were given your senses so that you could appreciate God. he gave you senses for your own benefit, to do what you have to do in daily life, and also to use them to see the different ways that God has showed mercy on you and taught you what you didnt know before.

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

exactly.. than why did he keep him self such a mystery...

example.. go see a movies starring Tom Hanks as a lead role who only appears for a few seconds how would u feel..

So is the Quran.. the book of god.. yet it only says so little about him... and stresses more on how we should live our life... wouldnt u take advice from someone whom u know more about.... or would u trust any stranger and go by what he says...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

picoico= I've read ur comments looks like ur running inside the circle some of the folks are trying to discuss this issue outside the circle . Are you scared? *
*Everybody loves God everybody loves their parents ,wife ,kids. If u love them and u have certain doubts over something i'm sure u'll ask them not out of fear but out of love. So dont u think we can ask our creator the questions which arises in our God gifted mind .i'm sure theres nothing wrong in it. Most of the people dont bother to ask their selves these kinda questions out of fear of punishment from God. Because they believe that" y u put a question mark where god put a full stop". Religious people dont wanna think beyond this phrase. And people who try to uncover these mysteries are considered doomed till eternity by masses like you. You keep you good work and get the so called promised gift after the end of time and we'll try to find out the realities which are not being disclosed by the creator. Just to remind you people like us do believe in God and his messengers. That’s y we are doing this effort.

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

*Muali, that's a major cop-out. Are you implying that you have a monopoly on questions? Is it okay to question religion, but not those who question religion? *

*I'm basically attacking the very premise of the line of questioning being employed here. Yes, it is okay to answer a question with a question...and judging by the responses thus far (which have been nothing but disengaging to say the least), the interest is not so much in answering, but in questioning. Mind if I join the party? *

Suggesting that I am afraid is a bit disengenious. I am, after all, trying to *engage through my questioning, and at least my questions are directly related to what was being asked.. *

Perhaps my questions are out of whack. Perhaps they are weak. But then, please do point out any flaw in reasoning on my behalf. I do believe my questions have so far been a step forward in pointing out flaws of the opposing point of view.
**
*You say I'm going in circles...please point out where. I will gladly clarify. *

*A word of advice: focus on what I say, not on imagining what my emotional state is. It really does detract from the overall dialog. *
*Everybody loves God everybody loves their parents ,wife ,kids. If u love them and u have certain doubts over something i'm sure u'll ask them not out of fear but out of love. *
*Questioning is done either as an act of rebellion or out of an admission of ignorance. To be clear, how would you characterize your reasoning? *
So dont u think we can ask our creator the questions which arises in our God gifted mind .i'm sure theres nothing wrong in it.
Such as? This requires an example for clarity...
Most of the people dont bother to ask their selves these kinda questions out of fear of punishment from God. Because they believe that" y u put a question mark where god put a full stop".
Fear? Or obligation? Or, more appropriatly, devotion? I think you are again content in projecting an emotional state onto those who disagree with you...although this may be self-gratifying, it hardly admits to a point. As I said, fear may well be a fear of disappointing, or of failing. *
*
*Religious people dont wanna think beyond this phrase. *
I disagree. The fact that religious people draw a line somewhere does not mean that the line is drawn such that it prohibits any act of questioning.
**
*And people who try to uncover these mysteries are considered doomed till eternity by masses like you. *
*The "likes" of me? Anyway...what mysteries do you speak of? *
You keep you good work and get the so called promised gift after the end of time and we'll try to find out the realities which are not being disclosed by the creator.
I don't understand what you're referencing here...certainly not a pervious post of mine...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

They could be content...they could be convinced. Perhaps merely opinionated. But then, I see you more of an analog rather than an exception.

I've observed that those who often claim to have an open mind merely have an empty one, so you'll pardon me if claims of open-mindedness don't impress upon me :D

I kid, I kid...
when they dont have a rational explanation to support their claims.. they r either scared ... or mad due to there low level of information..!
I have seen annoyance here...but fear or anger....not yet.

Heh, rational? Do you honestly think an agnostic position is "rational"? It's intellectual cowardice at best. God exists, or does not exist. Maybe is not an option. Neither proposition can be proven, at least formally. That does, in fact, throw reason (at lesat formal reasoning) out the window...and so what we have left is rhetoric.

If one is to assume certain prior truths (as all rational discourses must begin), then I think the religious view is rational in the sense that it is self-consistent. Will it impress you? Dunno. But then, your line of reasoning would naturally be equally unimpressive to those you oppose as the basic premise of your arguments is perhaps different.
I havent classified u as one in my books yet since u r making sense to an extent ...

Very gracious of you...

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

Do I pray? Yes
Do Good deeds? Well, I try to, as much as I can.
Follow all the rules of Islam? That is too big of a statement. No one is perfect and no I can't claim that.
Why do I do that? Scared of Allah or to go to Heaven or cuz good person should do that?

Why would I be scared of Allah? Before I go on, I would like to share something interesting. Rabi'a (The Mystic/Sufi) was walking fast carrying water bucket in one hand and fire in the other. People asked her where was she heading with those two things? She replied, the fire is to burn heaven and the water is to extinguish the fire of hell, so that people stop praying for the greed of heaven or fear of hell-fire.

Why do I do that, is very interesting question. I started praying at a much later stage. I used to pray every once in a while when I needed to, when I really needed to communicate with Him. Then I felt that isn't it so selfish of me to pray to God only when I want Him and not do what He expects of me? They say, if you want to know where you stand with God, ask yourself, where does God stand in your life? It made me want to learn more and do more for Him who created such a beautiful world for us. And No, I did not do it out of fear or greed. The more I learnt, the quest kept increasing and it became my solace to learn as much as I can. And I found myself practicing more with every passing day. They say if you believe in God, you keep finding the proofs of his existence but for those who do not want to believe in Him, they hardly find anything convincing.

"When my servants question you about me, tell them that I'm near. I answer their prayers when they call on me; let them answer my call. Let them trust in me, that they may be guided along the path of righteousness." Quran, Al-Baqarah, surah 2:186

Your second Question: Patience is a virtue?
Are you implying that if Allah puts you through patience and you wait and wait and nothing happens and you complain, God will punish you? Where did you get that?

Also you compared God's love with that of mother, but the example that is usually quoted goes like this: "Do you think a mother would throw her own child into fire? God's love is more than that of 70 mothers". It does not say that since mother does not put her child through situations to give hope and encouragement, God should not put men through sufferings either.

God makes people go through tribulations for various reasons. At times, to make them realize the value of what they have. At times for other to learn from it. And tribulations has greater reward not only in this world but in the hereafter. A sahabia once tumbled over a stone and hurt herself but she started laughing. People asked her why was she laughing when she got hurt. She said, I just remember the hadith that says for every tribulation in this world, Allah has put much rewards in the Akhira. So that pleasant thought overwhelmed my pain.

So if we cannot see the reward in this world or if we do not understand given our limited knowledge that does not mean God is unjust. How many times we are blessed and yet we don't even know, as this aya mentions here:

"Believers, do not forget how Allah bestowed His favors upon you by restraining the hands of those who sought to harm you. So remain conscious of Allah and depend only upon your Lord." Quran, al-Ma'idah 5:11

This life as compared to the life in the hereafter is like a bubble of water. but the next life is forever. So what would you worry, some tribulation in this world which is gonna wither soon but not for the hereafter, which is eternal.

As for Patience among prophets and human beings. Well indeed prophets were human beings but they had special "muqaam" with Allah. Human beings cannot be compared with that muqaam of a prophet. But they set an example for us to learn. As I mentioned above, tribulations are from God and can be on anyone and Allah mentions in Quran that those who depend upon him, He provides for them from means unknown. Those who show patience, for them is a greater reward.

God created sufferings and heartache so that joy may be know as their opposite. Hidden things become manifest through their opposites. But God has no opposite; so He remains hidden. Light is known as the opposite of darkness. But God's light has no opposite. Thus we cannot know him through our eyes. -Rumi, Masnavi

Welcomes on GS are done in the cafe. People who are new, they introduce themselves in the cafe. Other than that no one can really tell esp. when u r asking for a welcome after your 31 posts.

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

No one is banned here for expressing their views and everyone enjoys freedom of expression. However, people who are disrespectful towards others, towards other's beliefs and create a menance at this forum, sure no body wants them, let alone Mods. As muali also suggested that if you are respectful, no one will ban or kick you out of this forum. If you want to be respected, pls. respect others too. sure you'll be welcomed by everyone when you make some valuable contribution. Respect is earned, not demanded.

Re: Questions which need answers? (merged)

Muali and **Lightbearer **This is a very very important and interesting question. But I doubt if you wud find an answer on this forum. If you are seriously interested in this, my suggestion would be to search somewhere else, academic resources, discuss with scholars, or there are plenty of other sources, websites and books which have discussed and expained this at length.

So your saying that god put u through these kinda phases so that others can learn from u. so in other words some innocent has been used by god as an experimental rat so that he can teach others humans some lesson and show them how powerful is he that dont mess with him , dont question him watever he put u through just suck it up and be obedient .and still you gonna sit there and tell me that god is mercyful . i know watever i'm saying about god rightnow he'll get me for that sooner or later because i questioned him ,i wined i needed justice and i asked him " WHY ME".and still u want me to believe that he'll forgive me for watever i'm saying.. thas bulll
i'm just a normal human being i believe in realistic stuff if i'll get hurt in this world i'll feel the pain in this world. i was born and one day all the cells in my body are gona die and i'll die that day.( in this world).why should i believ in a fantacy world a forever life world thas just doesnt click. i know alot of people got answer to this phrase too but thas how i think cuz i'm a human and i think like that.and i have a right to think like that.

Like i said before Prophets were not normal humans they had powers ,miracles *
*a normal person doesnt have all tha kinda stuff.Does he/she ?

And then on top of that god gonna set an example for human like us to follow those special people(prophets) of god who could go through anything cuz they had powers . thats just not fair cuz we are simply a blind faith believers and now thas wat we call a glitch in god's programming.
