Do you pray ,do good deeds ,follow all the rules of islam ?
If you do , why do you do that?
You have to because your scared of allah ?
or
You have to cuz you want to so that you can go to heaven?
or
you have to cuz a Good person should do that?
Re: Questions which need answers ?
I'm a very sinful Muslim and I don't follow all the rules of Islam but i'd like to answer the last 3 questions.
Part of the reason why I do good deeds is I feat Allah (SWT) and his punishment. I also do it to attain Jannat by the grace of Allah (SWT). Last question, I don't believe doing good deeds alone makes you a good person. You need to have the Shahadah in your heart.

Sorry if I offend you, but thats not my intent.
Fear=negative emotion
Greed=negative emotion
both the reason for question 1 & 2 which you have given are based on negative emotions.
the problem is I dont have positive answers for the question, I thought a lot about this and came up with zero.
why do we have to have negative emotions to follow religion?
Re: Questions which need answers ?
I once read this book (called Islam is My Religion.) It stated that there are 3 ways of worshipping Allah. In decreasing order of preference:
1) Because you feel that he deserves to be worshipped
2) Because you want a reward
3) Because you fear a punishment.
The book went on to say that all of these are acceptable since you are still following Allah, and devoting your life to him. I was a little confused about this, because I always though intention was the most important thing

Re: Questions which need answers ?
i don't pray....i don't fast....i don't even believe in religions....but i try not to hurt people.....help em in any way i can....give donations....don't cheat/fraud.....keep everyone happy....n basically be a good human being.
why i do that? cuz to me that's the right thing to do....we all are humans....we belong to each other....we all want happiness and a good life....n it feels good at heart to help someone achieve that goal....i don't kno if there is any heaven or hell....but i know if we all start thinking like that...and quit fighting/killing in the name of religions....this earth would be no less than a heaven.
Re: Questions which need answers ?
Every positive comes from the fear of a negative. Its nature. Nothing you can do about it but realize it. Once you realize it you understand the truth that Allah speaks about.
Re: Questions which need answers ?
We shouldn't question Allah's order. Because then we start going out of Islam. That is all.
Re: Questions which need answers ?
LIke I sed b4,....."don't put a question mark where Allah puts a full stop!"
and having fear of Allah is one of the things which can make sum1 go 2 Heaven,.there's dis story,.its a bit long,.mayb tell u it sum uder tym,...
Re: Questions which need answers ?
A mother works hard to feed her childred, not out of fear, but out of love.
God gave us brain to reason, to think and to find out. If He just wanted to get things done just like its writted in the Holy book then he could have put a small computer in the and programmed it like he wanted.
If God is mercyful then why fear Him. Those who do wrong fear.

Yes, God gave us a brain! Then why don't we use it? Why question what He has ordered us to do? Then that would be just going against God. Yes there are ways of learning what we do, like performing salah, hajj, like how they came about etc.. That is why we have brains, to understand the reason behind.
God is merciful. We should fear Him because He is the only One that can punish us. Example: We sin, we are scared of Allah, and we say we won't do it again.
On the other hand, Allah is merciful. We should do whatever we do (the Good) for the Love of Allah!
You get what I am saying?
Re: Questions which need answers ?
Actually I do not get what you are saying.
You are saying God gave us brain so why use it. I am saying He gave us brain to reason, to think and to find out.
There is no definite path to heaven. There have been many men and women who got enlightenment, and each one by different path. They used their own thinking.
God is merciful, He loves you, He will protect you - So respect Him and not fear Him. Thats all I would say here for now.

I think that I have misunderstood you. :)
The first sentence, I would like to correct, I said " Yes, God gave us a brain! Then why don't we use it?"
Whatever you said in the above post, that is what I am saying.
O this internet... a wild thing indeed! :(

Fear of God and greed for heaven are not negative emotions. You have to look deeper into it to find out. I'd probably have to write 3 long essays to get my point across.
Re: Questions which need answers ?
i started this thread with three questions? Simple Questions
i really appreciate that ya'll had time to express your opinion.
But i got couple of more questions which i'll ask later.
Questions which need answers ? Part Two
1:Patience is virtue?
I've heard this quote a million times and one question floats in my mind all the time is that" if Allah put you through patience phase and you wait for a very long time, you do your best and leave the rest on allah but still nuthing changes but u still wait more more and more and u finally lose your patience then eventually you are entitled for punishment from Allah because you lost your patience and complained to Allah". What kinda justice is that?
Allah claims to love us more than the love of 70 mothers all together. And i strongly believe that a mother would never harm her child for something she put them through but to give them hope and encouragment.
People say ''Allah put his good men through phases to judge test their patience , he put his prophets in phases and tested their patience.''
But dont you think there is a difference between a PROPHET and a normal person .There are qualities which make a prophet DIFFERENT than a normal person. So patience is indeed a Prophet's virtue not a normal person's quality.
Re: Questions which need answers ? Part Two
One shud try his best and Allah is well aware of our shortcomings, He'll forgive.
Re: Questions which need answers ? Part Two
prophets were as human as any of us and if they cud be patient why not the rest of us????
prophets were sent as examples to us, that if they, geing human, can do all that, then there is no reason why others shud fail to do so....
And i strongly believe that a mother would never harm her child for something she put them through
here is where u go wrong....
Allah does not put us thru a hard time....
atleast not thru such that a person can not bear....
repeated more than once in Quran....
Quran 2:286
*On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear.... *
Re: Questions which need answers ?
ok here are some of the definations I am able to find for "Fear"
be afraid or feel anxious or apprehensive about a possible or probable situation or event; "I fear she might get aggressive"
be afraid or scared of; be frightened of; "I fear the winters in Moscow"; "We should not fear the Communists!"
an emotion experienced in anticipation of some specific pain or danger (usually accompanied by a desire to flee or fight)
be sorry; used to introduce an unpleasant statement; "I fear I won't make it to your wedding party"
concern: an anxious feeling; "care had aged him"; "they hushed it up out of fear of public reaction"
be uneasy or apprehensive about; "I fear the results of the final exams"
Also;
Fear is an unpleasant feeling of perceived risk or danger, real or not. Fear also can be described as a feeling of extreme dislike to some conditions/objects, such as: fear of darkness, fear of ghosts, etc. It is one of the basic emotions.
Responses to actual, present, external danger.
Emotional reaction to the threat of danger; emotional reaction to immediate and evident danger.
Dread, consciousness of approaching danger.
And Greed:
excessive desire to acquire or possess more than one needs or deserves
avarice: reprehensible acquisitiveness; insatiable desire for wealth
One of the seven chief features, or stumbling blocks. Its positive pole is egotism; its negative pole is voracity. It is caused by a fear of not having enough of a particular thing, such as money, food, sex, or attention.
Now in all the above-given example I do not see any positive emotion
Re: Questions which need answers ? Part Two
all humans (except ofcourse the infants) commit some sin in there life, to think this of prophets is unthinkable. Are both really same?
furthermore who has been addressed in this aayet.
[40:55] Therefore, be patient, for GOD’s promise is true, and ask forgiveness for your sin, and glorify and praise your Lord night and day. ![]()
Re: Questions which need answers ? Part Two
^ prophets were human beings just like the rest of the us....
if wud not be fair if prophets were given extra 'powers' and then normal humans expected to follow them....
