Questions for desi atheists

Re: Questions for desi atheists

Peace Theorist

Are your guidelines all based on common sense?

Re: Questions for desi atheists

^Yes pretty much..i think...i don't know...depends.

WHY?

Re: Questions for desi atheists

Now you are losing my respect.

So here is the thing theorist. We have this strange thing where we start baby sitting any one who says he/she don't believe in God.
Other then that you don't have edited to say.

Re: Questions for desi atheists

It could be habitual. An atheist friend who otherwise would be Hindu, does not go near beef either.
I've seen desi Muslims eat pork.

Re: Questions for desi atheists

You seem pretty unsure of yourself ... why are you trying to dismantle religious belief in God, when you have nothing better to offer? How is that common sense ... You yourself say that being athiest does not mean any of you are the same, but then by making people atheist you are subjecting people to follow their own desires - is that common sense?

Re: Questions for desi atheists

Come again? Who am I trying to make atheist? :konfused: I don’t have ANYTHING to offer, I never said I did. I am against injustice be in the name of religion, government, or culture. This is what I stand against. I do not knock on people’s door and beg them to give up their faith. That’s ridiculous! and I have not opened any threads asking people to explain their belief so I can refute them…they did! thanks for the accusation, Mr. Psyah! I am not visting your profile again. :snooty:

Re: Questions for desi atheists

Monkster, language please.

Re: Questions for desi atheists

My last post before I go inshaAllah ... to pray and travel back home ...

There is a box and I look inside it ... what possibilities are there on what I saw?

a) There is nothing inside it
b) There is something inside it

however these are not the only options because my sight itself is a parameter ... Which is that

1) I saw nothing
2) I saw something

now combining these we get ...

a1) There is nothing inside it and I saw nothing
b1) There is something inside it but I saw nothing
a2) There is nothing inside it but I saw something
b2) There is something inside and I saw it

The Qur'an talks about b2) as certainty of sight - that it will be given to us in the Hereafter ... and in many cases a1) is true that if we see nothing - then nothing is there ... a2) is imagination but we can't miss out b1) that is still an option ... The Qur'an refers to this as Ghaib ... it is currently ghaib and in the Hereafter it will become b2) apparent.

My point being ... we cannot depend on our apparatus of vision or perception to conclusively state what is there or not there ... because what we have no knowledge of we cannot be sure of ... We need faith to tell us about those things that we have no rational access to.

Re: Questions for desi atheists

theorist i dont know whether i should praise you or slap u silly for even initiating conversation in this thread considering first 3-4 pages are nothing but ridiculing athiests posters like mean school girls :frowning:

let me turn athiests back to religion, no brother let me!

ok im out!

Re: Questions for desi atheists

Well my accusation may have gone too far, sorry … but my point was if you believe religion or belief in God creates war and evil then it only makes common sense for you want others to leave God and religion … I mean if you don’t want them to leave it then why use the injustices done in the name of religion as your personal argument against believing in God?

And if you are really worried about injustice - then think of the injustice of disbelieving in God, if your heart allowed you to accept Him …

And if you really wanted justice - then I believe you will find it in Islam. Really last post …

Re: Questions for desi atheists

And we are back to where we started :)

Apka he dil chah raha tha logon ko bug karnay ka :D

Re: Questions for desi atheists

No, it's not as clear cut. Sure I believe religion has caused problems but i have faith in its believers as human beings to rise above it and use their brains/common sense to avoid what's so obviously wrong. And like you said, I can't judge them for everything that was done in the past but I do question their actions and it may be unfair on my part.

Questioning is natural for me, this is the reason I have come to believe that a religious God doesn't exist. Aslo, as I said before if your faith makes you a better person than it's a good thing. Logic in words mean nothing when I can't see it in their actions.

Re: Questions for desi atheists

I don’t like Salman Khan. :bummer:

Re: Questions for desi atheists

A Jew once asked the prophet why Allah created the material world? The Prophet replied, *“I was a Treasure unknown then I desired to be known so I created a creation to which I made Myself known, then they knew Me.” *

To me this suggest that God the creator of what we see and the unseen created this universe so that he maybe known. He existed throughout the eons and wanted his creation to know him and worship him. But the sort of dogmatic worship that Hindus and buddists do is only ritualistic. What God is trying to say is that "Look i exist i am here, who is it that will break away from their material bonds on this earth and search for me?" He is a treasure therefore he is not easily discovered. Many Sufis have also contemplated this and they came to conclusion that in order to discover God you must break away from the bonds which hold you down to this earth. And this is not only in Islam this is prevalent in many other Hindu spiritual techniques. In which the novice opens up his or her's "Qi" in order to experience the ultimate truth that exists in this universe. You simply can't experience God through Dogmatic techniques and simple recitations. What religion makes easier for us is to exist and live a "good" life in this world and prepares us a sort of default entry in to the after life as "Good people". Now if you must experience something more mystical and spiritual you have to give up your ties to this world and be willing to show this force this power in the universe and beyond it, that you're willing to give up everything for this mystical experience. Rationalists will never understand this because they've wired their brains to think God in material terms.

Was actually looking forward to this thread since a while, but the way it turned out in the first few pages, literally killed the interest altogether.
