Imran doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell against any established party. His party is much smaller than JI with pretty much the same platform. He aint stopping nobody.
You're not here in Pakistan -- you have no idea how frustrated people are. There's a very high chance that the established parties are going to be in for a major shock. People are very eager for a change.

They've been saying that forever.
Havent there been a bunch of bye-elections this year and last year? Who won those?
PMLN is notorious for operating its machinery in favor of its candidates, the elections at the national level WILL tell you another story. In all the by-elections, the candidates of the parties in the provincial government have won -- go figure why.
The consensus generally is that by-elections don't give you the remotest idea of what's to come. Let PTI and all the other parties campaign at the national level and you will see the outcome. In any case, to set the record straight, they won at all the booths in urban Lahore, and their candidate in Rawalpindi had a couple of hundred votes in 2008 as an independent but got a very respectable number when PTI backed him.
The fact that PMLN has to resort to generating all these establishment backing certain parties conspiracy theories shows how desperate they are. Trust me, you're going to see some interesting results come 2012.
Re your predictions, I guess we'll see. You seem to trust the system when it comes to the candidates 'respectable number', but not to the extent of accepting that they dont win elections.
i’ll also say that wrt theories about Imran Khan, I certainly have not jumped onto any bandwagon about him. I have had this criticism of him of being a taliban apologist and of being too cozy with the rightwing and the hamid guls of the word for several years, going back to maybe 2008 or so.
So lets be specific. You think its a good idea to protest against drone attacks by going to the alma mater of the Taliban, talking about the necessity of jihad and bashing america. Lets not confuse the issue.. there have never been any drone strikes in Akora Khatak, or indeed even peshawar.
They ARE suffering from the menace of the Taliban in this area. But when has Imran ever spoken against them?
If they are suffering from the menace of the Taliban then why people of the area are supporting Imran on his stance? Should Imran be praising America when he is protesting drone attacks? Is Akora Khatak the birth-place of Taliban?
I see. Please tell me what compromise you hope can be achieved, and what you are willing to give them in return.
A compromise can be reached once the two parties come to table and exchange their complaints etc. Besides, drone attacks are not to fight terrorism against Pakistan, rather terrorism against US/west.
Many so-called ENLIGHTEN one in this forum are against the Sit-In/Dharna???why??? may be because it is against US-Interest???
In any democracy ( now i know many would say, ya but Pakistan in not a democracy or bla bla bla) anyone have right to say what they want to say... if Imran Khan have this Demonsrtation/Sit-In against the US-Drone attacks then why others are having fits???
There were ample number of people who supported him in the blazing heat of Peshawar, they were with him for 2 days, despite all the threats and other acts of terrorism which are going through this city of Peshawar from last few years... he used his right, you can call it a Show-Bazi, you can call it a political stunt ( if it was then it is the right one) you can call it whatever you want to call it... but the truth is that he said what most of Pakistanies ( the people kind of thing who lives in Pakistan and are often use to cast some paper in a box after ever few years, normally those papers are called votes) want...what most of Pakistanies feel... and if one have his pulse on the hand of people, then he would do what PTI/IK did in Peshawar...
I would support Imran Khan in this Sit-In and other sit-in for the common cause, for the cause which benefits the local Pakistani people who have their interest attached to Pakistan and not in the foreign lands...
The reason PPP or PML ( All Alphabets), ANP or MQM cannot stage such demonstration is that because they don't want to send wrong message to their god, which is US and the reason many western influenced ( say Trojan Horses) are against the Dharna or issuing fatwas against it or making it look like a small thing is that they know that in long this kind of Sit-In would hammer the US-Interest in the region... and that is something which they cannot afford...
All the Way to Imran Khan... for representing the sentiments of majority of Pakistan...

Who says people of the area are supporting him? He and assorted religious parties drew a crowd of 15,000 (the upper limit given by stalker, for the crowd at its peak.. most other news agencies have put it at between 5 and 10k), that is pretty much the same as a 1/4 filled qaddafi stadium. Lets remember that assorted religious parties put together 40k not too long ago on two days notice.

Haqqania certainly is one of the birthplaces. Read up on it. And its fine if you want to blast america, but talking about how america is going to fail in afghanistan, and how jihad is necessary before an audience comprised of taliban type mullay certainly indicates much broader ideological support for taliban than just humanitarian concern wrt drones.

Be specific. Who are these two freaking parties. I'll help you out. Pakistan already has the 'good' taliban, i.e. the taliban that dont attack inside Pakistan in its control. Presumably the dialogue will be with TTP. So, what do you want to give the TTP in exchange for them stopping attacks on us.

I do not consider myself enlightened but i am against this dharna.
We are crying about violation of our sovereignity, when we do not have any governance or control in tribal areas. Either we should be able to control what happens within ourborders and happens in accordance with our national policy or we should stop crying about drones.
Any of you opposing imran, did you ever consider actually living in pakistan???
Or you just going to voice your opinions as out side observers??
i have considered living in Pakistan, and have lived in Pakistan. But that aside, why is that relevant to only criticism of Imran? Or would you rather those living outside Pakistan not have any opinion about Pakistan at all?
Problem of people living in Pakistan is good governance and many of them see Imran as the only hope. But they are not much bothered about the implications of his policy on international politics. At times i feel that Imran is just trying to get political support through emotions of people and may be will be different if he gets a chance to be in power.
