Proud Pakistani?

Re: Proud Pakistani?

nothing and everything.

More like when ppl love their family no matter what.
Even if mom don't look lile Anglina Juli and father is less like Brad pit..

But hey its family its here, they raised you so loves comes automatically.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

It wasn't about ABCDs or FOBs to start with. It wasn't about fighting and hating and bloodshed either.

Its about India (as a country policy and not Indian public in general) trying hard to destroy Pakistan's economy (e.g. on export front, influencing countries to cut ties, funding BLA etc) and an appeal to Pakistanis to atleast not HELP Indian economy by buying their products.

I am not against Indians. I do not want war. But I do not like the cheap tactics the Indian government is employing against Pakistan's economy. I cannot really influence Pakistan's financial policy as of now, but what I can do is not to help Indian's either.

How much tax have you paid to the government of Pakistan to ask such a question?

Re: Proud Pakistani?

I am just a little confused here...

..so the thread seems to be going in the direction of being friends with indians or not being friends.

so is that what being a proud pakistani boils down to?

PS: what about bangladeshis, afghanis, etc.?

sorry, you may want to rephrase that, Azkar is a proud Pakistani who has used his ability to try and give development contracts to Pakistan, not just for this site but also for the company he is in the leadership team of. That was part of teh conversation I had with him just last week.

Then you have people like Ehsan bhai whose patriotism can not be questioned...period. and TLK who has never given any hint of not having strong feelings for Pakistan.

That leaves Muzna and myself. Muzna being someone who purposefully went for Pakistani citizenship.

and that there is moi, and as they say actions speal louder than words. I have not been there in a decade and have no real plans to go. so that must be directed at me. which is fine. Its a fact, i cant argue with it.

But please dont drag those ppl in the mud with me. They are patriotic Pakistanis who are always thinking of what to do for the nation.

I can make no such claims, but spare them in your venting here. please.

really? where did you get this?
ever seen ppl going after each other on political differences, or social group?
northerners vs southerners, them making fun of west virginia (sorry WV guppies) or the redneckiness of texans..movies have carricatures of people from WASPs to african americans, to southerners yuppies, rednecks, whatever..I guess they are just nto as sensitive to satire. Heck last time I was in Europe my American colleagues were joking with general europeans about picking cheaper places for dinner because we have a third world currency..

I guess you dont know americans as well as you think you know them.

take govts out of the equation, and then understand that millions of people are nto xerox copies of each other. There are many..probably an overwhelming majority of locals who dont want peace sure.

Then you have send third generation americans and brits of indian or pak origin, who dont find much reason to dislike one another unless the person they are dealing with has some extreme viewpoint.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

Soooo to be a 'proud Pakistani' one has to live in pakistan, not associate with anyone who does not live in pakistan and resent/shed hatred anyone who is not pakistani?

Being friends with someone who is Indian does not make anyone less of a Pakistani. That's like saying someone who is Paksitani and does not live in Pakistan is betraying their country.

aisi tau koi baat nai howi!

You can live in Alaska, have loads of Indian friends and can still be a proud Pakistani!

You are right our childrens and grand childrens by living here won’t be like us.
Because they didn’t live there so they don’t feel any connection.

What can Pakistan give me is a total goi type soach. When you love something or someone so much then you don’t think that way that what he/she can give me.

PPl living here, born here, palay barhay here think goray’s way as they learned everything from here. So they can’t understand what is the love of country.

Why you are not proud of? because you don’t understand as you didn’t have chance to live there.

I can understand your feelings. You post didn’t offened me.

Excuse me that blood shed is only accusation from Indian Gov. there is no prove of that.

How could a muslim and Pakistani could agree with the bloodshed no matter it's Indian or hindus. You are so very wrong.

How could you be sure about any True Pakistani as you didn't born and never raised there. You can't even understand a pinch about Pakistani and even a true Pakistani. It's way beyond your soach.

Truth is why go to all country and become Internationl. Just become true and real muslim you will be good enough for all country.

It doesn't matter you call yourself international, Indian, Ductch or whatever they won't accept you but Islam will.

My concept of nationalism is not tied to hating anyone. People who didn't have much in common with their people have died for their country, and people who had benefited greatly from their country have betrayed their people.

as for boycotting products, i guess people have a right to not buy anything. although it may not be a solution or the right thing to do. recently i read in a paper that some indian group threatened a restaurant or some other business in india because they had 'karachi' as part of their business name. now that's something more serious than an emotional person resolving not to buy indian products. balance of trade isn't in pakistan's favor anyway.

Proud Pakistanis would encourage the government to find ways to resolve the conflict with India. It is a massive drain on resources, particularly for a country that does not have a robust defense manufacturing industry.

Proud Pakistanis would vote for effective leaders, not the goons who own your ancestral village

Proud Pakistanis would forego corruption and bribery.

Proud Pakistani pay their taxes in full and on time.

.... and so on...........
The issue was simple...it was suggested by someone's friend to boycott Indian products in order to retaliate. No hatred, no bloodshed, no Pakistani resident, no ABCD issue here!
exactly. my head is spinning from the stuff being talked about here. lets try to get along with each other first, respect each other's point of view without losing it, and then worry about embarking on a peace crusade with India. we have way too many issues of our own to sort our first.

BTW when did loving or hating India become a benchmark for being a proud or not- so-proud Pakistani? talk about an identity crisis.

Re: Proud Pakistani?

Can i be the first to say how ironic it is, that some of us want there to be world peace, and no conflict between the brothers and sisters of the world, but a topic like this can start conflict between our own? How can we expect different cultures to get along when we have so many problems within our culture itself.

This may inflame the passions.

Boycott Indian products? Why don't we buy Indian instead? India has the potential to be our greatest trading partner. Pakistani cement is prized in India, whilst Indian generic medicines are sought after in Pakistan. We should trade in harmony for mutual benefit.

What will hate achieve? Nothing, apart from perpetual torment and heartache? It’s time to love thy neighbour.

Colourful eyes I echo your views, Kurripunjaban I would like to polish your halo with Mr Sheen.

How could she. She is born and raised in western world I think.

Bundar kia jaanay adarak ka maza.

I think it'll be these 'western born bundars' who get pakistan back on its feet, cause they'll try to solve pakistans problems, without the war and corruption.

You'll be surprised to see how many of these "bundars" contribute to Pakistan... I personally know many Pakistanis living abroad who support orphans and hospitals and small businesses living abroad because they are in a position to do that and choose to do that because they care about their country. It's not all "talk" but real walk as well.

Anyone an talk big, but only a few people can actually take their precious time and money to make some difference.

There are many people who sit in Pakistan with their neighbors and have longggggggggg discussions on politics and how they can change the world.. unforunately, that's all they do... because it's easy and they have faltoo time.
