never heard of the degree in Home science but yes it's taught as a subject at undergrad level in most universities. in AligaRh, we had some girls in our undergrad class who had to go to the women's college for in-class instructions. a lot of girls from Hyderabad Deccan used to come to AligaRh to appear at exams as 'private students' [home tutored girls].

They need to include something like this in the general curriculum in Pakistan, like they do in the US and Canada. I'm surprised at how inept some Pakistani kids (guys and girls) are when it comes to cooking and laundry.

I don't understand why its so unreasonable to expect a man to know how to cook, clean and do laundry. Why is it so difficult to learn? And who says this isn't a man's domain? If a woman can go out and earn which is part of a man's domain than a man should be able to do both also. Especially since they consider themselves the stronger ones.
If you are having issues with an educated woman - don't marry her. The education has made her independent and she doesn't need you. If you're the type of guy who is easily intimidated by a successful person (man or woman), marry someone who will always need and depend on you. You get what you want, she gets what she wants...all is right in the world again!

Oh and just another point. Every time one of you takes it upon herself to bless us all with her presence in med school and training and then subsequently ends up sitting at home, thank you, because now that's another handful of patients for me to see and fill my day with, with minimal extra benefits.
Do us all a favor. If you girls can't handle it, then DON'T DO IT.
The world, and especially Pakistan, NEEDS MORE DOCTORS. So don't waste seats, thanks much.

How funny when there's a thread about doctors and shadi and stuff and suddenly someone mentions the 'typical Pakistani girl'.. who apparently just wants to look pretty and nag and make babies and wants nothing to do with studying/working.
And THAT is when I get pissed off real bad.
Because these generalizations are hurtful. And it's not our problem that girls you know (in your family or friends) are like this. Because all of us are not like this. Girls in Pakistan have brains too you know. And most of them know how to use them.
/vent over.. I know it doesn't come under the particular topic but whatever.

Would love to see you have kids and then work! really would love to. Don't talk big unless you have experienced it yourself. I have seen your kind too, who talk and talk and when it hits them, they cry like babies.

As being a stay at home is something bad, I would rather be a stay at home mom to my kids than to be a over worked, tired mom … I understand the concerns of the topic starter, I am starting work part time in 2 months after my third kid, I have the choice to go back full time, make career but to what extend, to neglect my beautiful babies for career, money, no way I am doing this, mo money or career will make me do this, take away precious time from kids.
So what if a single not experience frustrated female is looking bad at stay at home females/ moms with degree, who is she to judge.
I will tell my own daughters to work but not to kill themselves in the process, enjoy the little things in life, work, career and money is not the only thing that matters in life.
